Colby Covington Promises To Confront ‘Biased’ Joe Rogan At UFC 225

Colby Covington is taking his beef with Joe Rogan up a notch:

Colby Covington’s beef with Joe Rogan is raging on.

After Covington threatened to slap the longtime UFC color commentator earlier this month, Rogan simply asked him not to and essentially praised ‘Chaos” over-the-top brand of self-promotion that earned him the biggest fight of his career.

But just one week from his interim welterweight title bout with Rafal dos Anjos in the co-main event of June 9’s UFC 225 from Chicago, Illinois, Covington doesn’t believe that’s good enough. Spouting off during a recent appearance on BJPENN.COM Radio, Covington said his beef with Rogan would be squashed when the popular personality stopped ‘running his mouth’ about him.

In his eyes, Rogan has never competed in the octagon and therefore shouldn’t comment on matters he has no experience in. On top of all that, Covington called Rogan biased in his commentary as well:

“His little mouth was trying to run and say things when he shouldn’t have an opinion,” Covington said on the show. “You’ve never been in an Octagon, you don’t have any experience fighting. Just ’cause you do these little Tae Kwan Do tournaments and you can’t even get first place in those, doesn’t mean you can come talk to the King of Chaos, AKA the new welterweight king on June 9th.”

“[The beef will] be squashed when he stops running his little mouth like his opinion matters,” Covington continued. “His opinion is irrelevant. He thinks he has a say in everything and he’s a biased announcer as it is.”

The brash title challenger expanded on his claim that Rogan was biased, using the example of how he supposedly praises disgraced former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones in his fights no matter what “Bones” does. Because of that perception, Covington doesn’t believe his beef with Rogan to be over, and is even planning to confront him in Chicago next weekend:

“If it’s Jon Jones fight, his balls are so far in [Rogan’s] mouth that he’s just going to be saying anything Jon does, ‘Oh, my God! He’s the greatest of all time!’ This and that, so. I don’t think the beef’s squashed. I got something to say to him and I’m going to say something when I see him face to face in Chicago.”

It appears that calling out most of the high-profile names in MMA wasn’t enough, and Covington has extended his callout tour to commentators now too.

But even though it may appear to be all-out bloviating madness from the man nicknamed “Chaos,” it’s also a sneakily well-calculated approach as well, as Covington’s UFC record, although solid, isn’t one that screams title shot, at least not yet. In this day and age, trash talk is king, and Covington knows it. He also knows that Rogan is one of the biggest personalities in the fight game even if he’s not a fighter himself, and that brings another huge contingent of potential haters to the table.

Love him or hate him, Colby Covington is playing the game the right way right now.

Rafael Dos Anjos Believes Colby Covington Is Worse Version Of Conor McGregor

RDA is clearly not impressed with his next opponent.

The upcoming fight between Rafael dos Anjos and Colby Covington is right around the corner.

The former UFC lightweight champion is slated to take on the conversational prospect for the interim title welterweight title at the upcoming UFC 225 pay-per-view event in the co-main event.

If you recall, the beef all started back in December following RDA’s decision win over former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler in the main event of UFC on FOX 26 at the Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Covington went off on Lawler and dos Anjos after the fight. He even labeled Lawler as a “broken man.” He also tossed out the idea of facing dos Anjos in Brazil for the interim title.

The promotion went with the idea but pushed the fight back from UFC 224 in Brazil to the UFC 225 PPV event.

Dos Anjos made it clear during Thursday’s UFC 225 media conference call to promote the fight that not impressed with what he’s heard from his next opponent.

“I grew up in Brazil in the favelas, man. Bullies, trash talking, doesn’t work with me,” dos Anjos said Thursday on a heated UFC 225 media conference call (transcript courtesy of MMA Fighting). “But I think Colby, he’s just trying [to be Conor McGregor]. Conor does it well. Conor, he’s a rich man, he makes a lot of money. He’s a businessman, and I can respect that. But Colby, he’s just a worse version of Conor McGregor. He’s trying to be like Conor, but when he loses to me, his career is done. All he has is talk, nothing else.”

“Dude, you don’t believe one word that’s coming out of your mouth, Ralphie,” Covington shot back. “Let’s be honest, you ain’t teaching me sh*t. I’ve been to Brazil more than you’ve been there. You live in America, land of the free and home of the brave.”

“That’s a Conor McGregor joke,” dos Anjos responded. “That’s Conor McGregor’s joke, man. You’ve got to create something new. … You’re so fake, bro. You’re so fake. I’m about to be a legend, man, getting two belts. You’re so fake. You say you’re going to say something to Joe Rogan’s face? You say nothing when you see people face-to-face, man. You’re a fraud. You just look at your phone, man. You just bow your head. You just bow your head down and not even look around, man. You don’t even look around.”

UFC 225 pay-per-view event is slated to go down on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

The main card will air on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET while the preliminary card will air on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET and the promotion’s streaming service, UFC Fight Pass at 6 p.m. ET.

This is when the words started to kick up and things got a little bit heated between the two world-class fighters.

“Yeah, because I’m professional fighter,” Covington replied.

“Nah, you’re nothing,” dos Anjos said. “You’re fake. If you’re trying to be a bad guy, you’ve got to be a bad guy all the time. You’re trying to be a bad guy, man. You’ve got to be a bad guy all the time. Don’t be fake.”

“I ain’t fake,” Covington responded. “I’m as real as they come.”

“You’re not. You’re a little p*ssy,” dos Anjos replied. “That’s what you are. You know you are.”

Teammate: CM Punk Will Surprise People At UFC 225

A teammate of CM Punk’s is expecting a better performance from the former professional wrestler at UFC 225:

Former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) star Phil “CM Punk” Brooks made his mixed martial arts debut at UFC 203 in September 2016 and it’s safe to say that it didn’t go well, as he was dominated and submitted by Mickey Gall in the first round of the bout.

Following that bout, Punk’s future in the sport was highly unclear, but the UFC has elected to give the 39-year-old another chance, as he’s set to take on Mike Jackson at UFC 225 on June 9 in Chicago.

Ahead of this bout, Belal Muhammad, who trains with Punk at Roufusport in Milwaukee, feels as if Punk will ‘surprise’ those watching:

“He’s working really hard. He’s improved a lot. I think people are gonna be really surprised about the show he’s gonna put on,” Muhammad told Sherdog.com. “Not a lot of people are giving him respect after his first fight. But as you can see, Mickey Gall wasn’t no joke. He went out there and he beat Sage Northcutt pretty easily.”

Muhammad also feels as if Jackson, who is also 0-1 in his professional mixed martial arts career and who has also lost to Gall, represents a better match-up for Punk:

“I feel like it’s gonna be more of a test for him, the right-sized test,” Muhammad said. “Gall was an undefeated kid and he was a brown belt. Mike Jackson is kind of like the same level as him, so it’ll be a good test for him to go out there and put on a show.”

UFC 225 will be headlined by a middleweight title fight between champion Robert Whittaker and interim titleholder Yoel Romero. The co-main event, meanwhile, will play host to an interim welterweight title bout between Rafael dos Anjos and Colby Covington.
