Dana White has an intense interview with Waleed Aly of the Channel 10 show to promote UFC Fight Night 142 in Adelaide and UFC 234 next February. This is when Aly brought up the UFC 223 bus attack.

Back in April during fight week of the UFC 223 pay-per-view event, McGregor and several members of his entourage decided to fly from Ireland to Brooklyn, New York to get revenge on current lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

It all started once the UFC lightweight champion got into an argument with McGregor’s training partner, Artem Lobov, earlier that week. This led to McGregor attacking the fighter bus that had Nurmagomedov on and he was arrested as a result, then was charged with three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief.

Aly brought up how there haven’t been any real punishments involving these fighters for their actions. This includes the bus attack and their UFC 229 post-fight brawl.

“We have a hearing that’s coming up in front of the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) that’s coming up in December. They will lay down fines and suspensions and whatever they’re going to do. They’re actually coming after me for the promotion of the fight. So it was a bad night and believe me everybody asks me this question, White said (H/T to News.com).

Dana White Fires Back

White continued by stating that this incident isn’t good for business as they don’t need outside drama in order to sell fights.

You know, ‘This happened and it was bad, but it’s good for your business’, it’s really not good for business when things like that happen. We don’t need that type of stuff to sell a fight.”

This led to White defending himself by stating that McGregor was definitely punished for his actions.

“We do a show called UFC Embedded where we follow the fighters around. So those cameras were there when that happened because of that. But do you understand, he (McGregor) got arrested. He went to jail! He had to go before the New York Attorney-General. So they already took care of it, what am I going to do? What’s a suspension going to do? He was suspended, he couldn’t fight because he was in jail!”

Dana Doesn’t Back Down

Aly doubled down with his take and made it known that he wasn’t criticizing White but trying to get an answer from him.

“I’m levelling, that’s what I do. I put on fights. This guy was arrested, he was down there because we were supposed to be talking about a fight he was going to be in. He came and attacked a bus and got arrested and went to jail.”

White brought up how the UFC is overseen by the NSAC. Following their UFC 229 post-fight brawl, they’re both suspended for their actions.

“Now we’re overseen by the NSAC, so these guys can’t fight. They’re both on suspension, they’re going to get fined a certain amount of money. Whatever that number is that they suggest and then there’s going to be a suspension held out. That’s what Nevada does, they govern us. So what else am I going to do? Suspend them for another year? It doesn’t make sense.”

Finally, the UFC President made it known that reality is always better than a script that is written for MMA. Anyone who thinks otherwise is wrong.

“Let me tell you what, reality is better than any script you could ever write. If you think that we would put our top guy in a position where he attacks a bus. Hurts other fighters then gets sued by all of them and then gets arrested. We’re not that good.”

Following Khabib Nurmagomedov’s UFC 229 win over Conor McGregor, all hell broke loose. Khabib and McGregor will face the music soon, but it’s also resulted in some other high-profile names facing discipline in Nevada.

McGregor cornerman Dillon Danis began to taunt Khabib, who then jumped the cage to attack the Bellator fighter. This sparked a brawl between the pair outside the Octagon.

As a result, Zubaira Tukhugov, Abubakar Nurmagomedov, and Esedulla Emiragaev jumped into the cage with McGregor. Abubakar Nurmagomedov got into a scuffle with McGregor at the top of the cage. The Irishman landed a punch on him during the exchange.

Tukhugov and McGregor then got into a skirmish inside the cage, while Emiragaev came from behind to attack “The Notorious,” hitting him at least one time. All of these men are facing possible disciplinary action from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) as a result.

Per the commission’s website, Danis, Tukhugov, Abubakar Nurmagomedov, Magomedov, and Emiragaev will have a hearing on November 14th. This hearing will be to extend temporary suspensions. No one ended up charged with assault.

McGregor and Khabib had their temporary suspensions extended last month. They’re due in front of the NSAC on December 10th in Las Vegas. The NSAC is currently withholding half of Nurmagomedov’s fight purse, $1 million.

Jose Aldo Doesn’t Blame Khabib For Post-UFC 229 Melee

Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo doesn’t blame Khabib Nurmagomedov for the insane post-UFC 229 melee that broke out between both teams.

Sadly, the most memorable moment of UFC 229’s main event wasn’t Khabib Nurmagomedov’s submission victory.

Shortly after forcing Conor McGregor to tap out, Khabib Nurmagomedov hopped the Octagon to attack McGregor cornerman Dillon Danis. Danis was allegedly provoking Khabib at cageside after the fight. This sparked a huge post-fight melee between both teams, inside and outside of the Octagon. Both McGregor and Khabib are facing possible disciplinary action for the incident.

There has been some talk of a rematch next, especially from the McGregor side. However, the issues with the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) must sort themselves out before any of that can be pursued. While fight fans wait to see what happens on that front, the chatter about Khabib’s next move continues.

At UFC 230 this past weekend (Sat. November 3, 2018), ESPN got the chance to speak to former featherweight champion Jose Aldo. When asked about the ordeal that occurred after the UFC 229 contest, Aldo said he can’t blame “The Eagle” for his actions with the way McGregor acted in the lead-up to the fight (via MMA Mania):

”I understand the reaction of Khabib,” Aldo said. “No, it’s not his fault, we shouldn’t blame him for his actions because it’s the UFC letting McGregor do whatever he wants, in the past and here in New York. So it’s not Khabib’s fault. No time, no nothing for him.”

McGregor and Aldo have had issues of their own in the past. Prior to their fight at UFC 194 in December of 2015, McGregor treated Aldo very similar to the way he did Khabib. However, when McGregor met Aldo inside the Octagon, the Irishman was victorious by way of a 13-second knockout.

It was the first time Aldo ever lost in the UFC and his first defeat in MMA competition in almost a decade. Now, Aldo comes off the first victory of his MMA career since July of 2016. He defeated Jeremy Stephens via TKO this past summer as the Brazilian looks to reclaim the 145-pound title.

Dana White Details Recent Conversation With Conor McGregor

Dana White reveals what was said between him and Conor McGregor in a conversation last week.

During last night’s (Sat. November 3, 2018) post-UFC 230 press conference, UFC president Dana White answered questions from the media.

Of course, one of those questions was about Conor McGregor, who had nothing to do with UFC 230. McGregor was defeated in his Octagon return last month at UFC 229 by Khabib Nurmagomedov. Khabib submitted the Irishman in the fourth round of their lightweight title contest in Las Vegas. Following the loss, McGregor has already expressed his interest in an immediate rematch.

Many have been wondering what will actually be next for McGregor. If a rematch with Khabib doesn’t happen, McGregor has already said he’s willing to face the next in line. White revealed that he actually spoke to McGregor last week in regards to his Octagon return:

“Conor and I talked for an hour last week,” White revealed. “Typical Conor. ‘I would love an immediate rematch again, but I’ll fight whoever I gotta fight to get back to him if that’s not the case.’”

Due to the lopsided nature of his fight with Khabib, a rematch for McGregor doesn’t make much sense. Of course, the fight would make financial sense for the UFC, especially after the post-fight melee between both teams.

With that being said, it wouldn’t come as a complete shock if Khabib vs. McGregor II was next nonetheless. Should McGregor face the “next in line” instead, that would potentially open up the door to a ton of other interesting opportunities.
