It’s happening. Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal will meet inside the Octagon at UFC 244 on pay-per-view (PPV) in November.

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto broke the news after an interview with UFC President Dana White. White said the fight came together over the past 24 hours. The fight will headline the PPV, with no title fights going down on the card under it. All the action goes down inside Madison Square Garden on November 2.

Diaz called out Masvidal after his win over Anthony “Showtime” Pettis last month. He declared himself the “Baddest Mother F*cker Champion” of the world and said he plans on defending that title against Masvidal. To make things even more fun, White said he’s actually going to make a BMF belt for the winner.

Masvidal is on a two-fight win streak at the moment, in which he knocked out Darren Till and Ben Askren in devastating fashion. The first coming in Till’s own backyard of London in the second round, while the latter was recorded as the fastest knockout in UFC history at five seconds.

As for Diaz, he ended a three-year layoff against Pettis, outclassing the former lightweight champion, before calling out Masvidal. Now, we’ll get to see who comes out on top when these two fan favorites collide inside the Octagon.

Who are you picking in the welterweight showdown between Diaz and Masvidal?

Kelvin Gastelum has his next fight booked as he is set to take on Darren Till at UFC 244 in Madison Square Garden. It will be the Englishman’s middleweight debut inside the Octagon and comes against the guy who just fought for the interim middleweight title. And, who was scheduled to fight for the middleweight title earlier this year.

When Kelvin Gastelum got the call to fight Darren Till at UFC 244 he was surprised by it.

“At first thought, I was like, ‘I don’t know if it’s worth it for me to accept this kind of fight because he is coming off a two-fight losing streak,’” Gastelum told MMA Junkie. “I feel like I’m still in title contention, and I feel like I should get one of those top guys. But I want to fight in Madison Square Garden.”

Why he ended up accepting the fight is simple he wanted to fight at MSG. Yet, he was unsure of the fight as he says a win over Till doesn’t put him into the title shot talks which fighting a top-middleweight would do.

However, Kelvin Gastelum says this a chance for him to prove to everyone he is a top middleweight.

“I put a lot of thought on who my opponent is and why I’m fighting him, and will it get me to the title shot. Will it get me closer to where I want to go,” Gastelum said. “I definitely asked those questions. And, none of them applied to Darren Till. I don’t think if I win – it’s not going to get me a title shot. It’s not getting me closer. But I just think I need to go out there and make a statement against a guy like Darren Till because of my last performance. I want to go out there, I want to show that I’m still hungry, I’m still in contention, and I’m still one of the best guys around at this weight class.”

Who do you think will win the fight between Kelvin Gastelum and Darren Till?

Stephen Thompson has not fought since March of this year at UFC Nashville when he was knocked out by Anthony Pettis. Since then, he has been recovering from the knockout and looking forward to what is next.

Why he took so long off since the knockout is simple for Thompson.

“I wanted to take the summer off after that last fight with Anthony Pettis,” Thompson said to MMA Junkie. “Taking that shot was like, ‘Man, I want to make sure I’m healed up before I step back out there.’ Especially mentally, for my brain, and making sure that’s healed up before I step back out.

“To be honest with you, I’m 100 percent. I’m ready to step back out there and do it again. At this point, I’m just trying to find an opponent.”

The welterweight division is stacked that there are plenty of options for Stephen Thompson and his next fight. One opponent, “Wonderboy” wants is Rafael dos Anjos, as they are coming off of losses and both highly ranked.

Yet, if that fight doesn’t happen he would be open to fighting Vicente Luque.

“I know me and ‘RDA’ are coming off of a loss,” Thompson said. “That was kind of thrown out there, and hopefully that will work. It’s kind of up in the air, but I’d love for it to happen at Madison Square Garden. I want to get back up in that top five again. So that’s why the ‘RDA’ fight is so appealing to me.

“I don’t know if Vicente Luque is ranked yet. I think he’s in the top 14 or 15 or something like that, so it wasn’t that appealing to me. But if the ‘RDA’ thing doesn’t happen, that’s definitely a possibility. He’s a great fighter.”

The hope for Stephen Thompson is that he can fight again at UFC 244 in Madison Square against a top-ranked welterweight.

All signs pointed towards Kamaru Usman’s first title defense being against former interim champion Colby Covington. It only cemented that when “Chaos” defeated Robbie Lawler in the main event of UFC Newark.

Yet, reports came out on Thursday that the negotiations had hit a standstill and they were looking for other options. Since then, Jorge Masvidal called for a fight with Usman in a tweet.

“I’m partying too [Kamaru Usman] what’s the hold up? Sign the contract. #supernecessary #theresurrection #strapcity,” Jorge Masvidal wrote on Twitter.

Usman then saw it and threw some shade at Jorge Masvidal.

“That really looks like I’m partying… clown sit down FOH,” he responded.

Kamaru Usman has made it known he wants to fight at Madison Square Garden and defend his belt for the first time. But, who he will be fighting is currently unknown. Now, on Friday morning, he took to social media to anchor that statement.

“I want to fight Nov 2nd @TheGarden,” Kamaru Usman wrote.

Kamaru Usman has not fought since UFC 235 in March where he defeated Tyron Woodley by decision to win the welterweight title. He is currently on a 14-fight winning streak that includes wins over the likes of Rafael dos Anjos, Demian Maia, and Leon Edwards.

For Jorge Masvidal, he is on a two-fight winning streak after knocking out Darren Till in March and then handing Ben Askren his first professional loss. There, he knocked him out in five-second by a flying knee. Since then, he has called for a big-money fight or a title fight.

UFC 244 is currently without a main event but all signs point to Kamaru Usman defending the welterweight there. But, who he defends it against is the bigger question.

Who do you think Kamaru Usman should defend his title against at UFC 244?
