Hasbulla Magomedov

Former UFC flyweight title challenger and division contender, Katlyn Chookagian has revealed social media star, Hasbulla Magomedov refused to take a picture with her at a recent function, seemingly flat out refusing to take photos with women.

Chookagian, the current #3 ranked division contender, has yet to return to the Octagon since she saw a four fight winning run halted by Manon Fiorot at UFC 280 back in October on ‘Fight Island’ in a unanimous decision loss to the French standout.

Once competing for undisputed flyweight gold back in February 2020, Chookagian suffered a third round ground strikes knockout loss to current champion, Valentina Shevchenko

In a single professional loss since, Chookagian dropped a first round strikes loss to former strawweight champion, Jessica Andrade in a ‘Fight Island’ title eliminator.

Embarking on a run of four consecutive victories since her loss to Brazilian finisher, Andrade, Quakertown veteran, Chookagian managed to defeat the quartet of Cynthia Calvillo, Viviane Araujo, Jennifer Maia, and most recently, landed a split decision win over Amanda Ribas back in May of this year.

Katlyn Chookagian reveals a rather contentious interaction with Hasbulla Magomedov

Sharing her side of a recent interaction with social media star, Hasbulla Magomedov – who was recently added to the EA Sports UFC 4 video game, Chookagian claimed the Russian teenager refused to take a picture with her, given the fact she is female.

“It was all fighters, so he (Hasbulla Magomedov) knows I’m a fighter, and I asked him for a picture,” Katlyn Chookagian said on the Just Bleed podcast. “He literally waved his finger at me and said, ‘Women, no photo.’ I mean, that seems more disrespectful to women than Andrew Tate saying he thinks women should be like protected.”

Rising to prominence over the last two years, Hasbulla has featured prominently at multiple UFC events since, and entered the Octagon following compatriot, Islam Makhachev’s successful title victory against Charles Oliveira at UFC 280 back in October.

Former two-time undisputed UFC bantamweight champion, T.J. Dillashaw, has notified the organization of his immediate retirement from active mixed martial arts competition, after recently undergoing surgery to address a shoulder injury.

Dillashaw, a former two-time undisputed UFC bantamweight champion, most recently co-headlined UFC 280 back in October in Abu Dhabi, UAE – suffering a second round ground strikes knockout loss to defending champion, Aljamain Sterling.

During the bout, Dillashaw dislocated his shoulder on multiple occasions throughout the opening and second round prior to the finish, before confirming how the issue had begun earlier this year during the beginning of his fight camp.

The Angels Camp native was removed from the official UFC Fans Ranking pool this Monday night, with speculation regarding his fighting future rife as a result.

And according to an initial report from ESPN associate producer, Michael Wonsover, Dillashaw has informed the UFC of his intention to retire from professional mixed martial arts with immediate effect.

“BREAKING: T.J. Dillashaw has notified the UFC of his retirement,” Wonsover tweeted. “Dillashaw went 1-1 after serving a 2-year suspension from 2019-2021.”

A follow-up report from Ariel Helwani as per Dillashaw’s manager, Tiki Ghosn, confirmed how a subsequent consultation with the surgeon who addressed T.J. Dillashaw’s shoulder, and the potential need for a second surgical procedure has led the Californian to call time on his professional mixed martial arts career.

Dillashaw, 36, retires from the sport boasting a 17-5 professional record, bowing out following his title challenger loss to Uniondale native, Sterling.

T.J. Dillashaw’s first title reign began back in 2014

In his most recent professional victory, Dillashaw landed a close, split decision win over Cory Sandhagen in July of last year.

First clinching the undisputed bantamweight title with an upset knockout win over Renan Barao in May 2014, Dillashaw would begin his second term as champion with a 2017 knockout win over former teammate, Cody Garbrandt.

Dillashaw holds other professional wins over the likes of Joe Soto, Raphael Assuncao, and John Lineker.

AJ Dobson has revealed he suffered from a brutal abscess which left him unable to walk following his UFC 280 defeat to Armen Petrosyan.

AJ Dobson was beaten by Petrosyan via unanimous decision on the undercard of UFC 280, unfortunately for him not only did he have to suffer back-to-back defeats after being beaten by Jacob Malkoun on his promotional debut.

The American also had to deal with a hematoma that developed in his leg which then became infected resulting in an abscess forming which causes excruciating pain.

AJ Dobson took to his social media to update fans on his current situation and promised a return to action soon enough.

“After my last fight I was left with a few hematomas on my shin from eating leg kicks.

About a week ago it violently turned into an abscess and within two days I was unable to walk on my own and had an unwavering fever.

“We’re back on the road to recovery but I still have a lot to be thankful for. I might be out for a while but the goal remains the same! Thanks to my team and management for the help and support! I’ll be back soon.”

AJ Dobson Reveals He Had Fought With A Knee Injury For The Previous 4 Years

Taking damage is bad enough but expected when competing in a sport such as mixed martial arts but going into battle already damaged is a whole separate issue. Although many fighters will enter bouts carrying minor injuries acquired from training or sparring, the level of severity for some of these issues can be extremely high.

AJ Dobson revealed that this is exactly the case for him as he has been battling adversity during the last four years of his career by fighting whilst suffering from a knee injury.

“I tore my knee in 2016 or 2017, and I just had to suck it up. All these injuries that these guys would have, and they would just suck it up, train what they could and still break records,” he said.

“So, I was kinda pulling from those guys. I just have a bucket handle meniscus tear – it’s all right; put a knee sleeve on, rub some dirt on it, it will be all right. (Laughs) It’s just that ‘Work through it’ mindset that I’ve always been surrounded by.” (Transcribed by DailyStar)

We have seen very recently the impact this can have on performance following TJ Dillashaw’s title challenge at UFC 280, which saw him enter the cage with his shoulder frequently popping out of its socket.

How many fighters do you feel go enter the cage whilst carrying a serious injury?

Sean O’Malley floats UFC title fight rematch Marlon Vera in March: ‘Why not have a little interim belt?’

Sean O'Malley

Off the back of his close, split decision win over former UFC bantamweight champion, Petr Yan earlier this month, newly ranked number one contender, Sean O’Malley is willing to run back his August 2020 loss to the surging, Marlon Vera in an interim title clash, if undisputed champion, Aljamain Sterling elects to remain sidelined until June.

Featuring in a high-profile main card clash against former undisputed bantamweight best, Yan at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi, UAE earlier this month, Montana striker, O’Malley turned in the biggest victory of his professional career to date – defeating Yan with a clost, split judging effort in the Middle East.

Sean O’Malley welcomes a March rematch with Marlon Vera

Tipped to compete for a title of some form in his next Octagon outing, the Dana White’s Contender Series product has noted his willingness to share the Octagon with Ecuadorian contender, Vera in a much-rumored rematch, even if he only gets to compete for an interim crown.

“It’s so hard to say, everyone’s different,’ Sean O’Malley said on his YouTube channel. “I get it, Aljo (Aljamain Sterling) cuts a lot of weight. He’s probably already back up to 165-170, he’s probably like, ‘I don’t want to cut weight again in the next couple of months, I want to enjoy it.’ But if you do think… he wants to wait eight months.”

“I get it, I do,” Sean O’Malley said. “But say the number one contender, ‘Suga’ Sean O’Malley is ready to go in March, and the guy in line, in my opinion, should be (Marlon) ‘Chito’ Vera. He just beat Dominick Cruz, beat Frankie Edgar, beat some good guys. Why not have a little interim belt and then the winner of the interim belt fight Aljo when he’s ready?” (Transcribed by MMA Fighting

Initially sharing the Octagon with Vera back in the co-main event of UFC 252 back in August 2020, O’Malley, who then boasted an undefeated record, suffered a first round TKO loss due to ground strikes after suffering from drop foot earlier in the first frame.

New footage has emerged over the weekend detailing the aftermath of former UFC lightweight titleholder, Charles Oliveira being distraught and emotional in defeat following UFC 280 earlier this month – with the Brazilian submitting to new division best, Islam Makhachev.

Headlining the Abu Dhabi, UAE card in an attempt to clinch his second vacant lightweight crown, Charles Oliveira was submitted in a rather one-sided affair against Makhachev – falling into a second round arm-triangle choke loss

For Makhachev, the Makhachkala native scored his stunning eleventh consecutive victory in the process, as well as nabbing the vacant title and subsequently snapping Oliveira’s division-best winning run to boot.

Escorted backstage following his submission loss to the American Kickboxing Academy staple, Makhachev, Oliveira sat hunched over in his locker room with members of his Chute Boxe team attempting to console him.

Charles Oliveira’s team rally to clinch the lightweight title again

Sharing an embrace with head coach, Diego Lima, Oliveira rested his head on the technician’s shoulder, before footage detailed a rallying call from the Sao Paulo native’s coach, Jorge Patino, who urged his fellow coaches to help bring the championship back to their camp.

“They took his (Charles Oliveira) belt, but we’re getting that belt back,” Jorge Patino said in footage captured on UFC 280: The Thrill and the Agony. “It’s our duty. We’re responsible for that, everyone here has a piece of that belt. You and I. So out team needs to work hard to get that belt back. Congrats to their team, they won the fight. We must understand this sport. But just accept it? Never. We’ll be back stronger. Ok?”

Oliveira, who was subsequently linked with a fictitious fight against surging lightweight contender, Rafael Fiziev over the course of last weekend in what would come as a quickfire return at UFC 283 in January in his native Brazil, distanced himself from that fight, admitting he needs to take a break from active competition.
