Undisputed UFC heavyweight champion, Jon Jones has sent his followers on Twitter into raptures this Sunday afternoon – posting a series of cryptic tweets from his verified account – including a tweet saying “don’t kill me.”

Jones, a former two-time undisputed light heavyweight champion, headlined UFC 285 earlier this month in his first Octagon walk in over three years.

Jon Jones clinched the vacant UFC heavyweight crown this month

Dispatching former interim heavyweight champion, Ciryl Gane in the pair’s vacant title outing, Jones became the undisputed heavyweight champion – submitting the Frenchman with a stunning, opening round guillotine choke success.

Expected to make his comeback again later this year, although yet to be officially confirmed by the organization, Jones has been linked with a UFC 290 headliner against former two-time heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic in July during International Fight Week.

However, this weekend, the former Jackson-WInk MMA staple has sent fans into worry and conversation, tweeting several cryptic and erratic tweets, including one in which he asks not to be killed.

“Don’t kill me,” Jon Jones tweeted.

“Don’t kill you either,” Jones tweeted.

“Being nice (sic) conversation,” Jon Jones tweeted.

“Erase this year?” Jon Jones tweeted.

“Twitter says,” Jon Jones tweeted

Prior to his Octagon return earlier this month in the main event of UFC 285, Jones had yet to feature professionally since February 2020.

Taking headlining honors on that occasion, Jones, then the undisputed light heavyweight champion, managed to successfully defend his crown in a close, debated decision win over the now-falteting, Dominick Reyes in Houston, Texas – handing the Californian his first professional mixed martial arts loss.

Colby Covington claims Jon Jones Ciryl Gane fight looked rigged UFC

Upon the arrival of the UFC’s consensus greatest fighter of all time, a heavyweight debut proved to be successful, but Colby Covington suspects match fixing.

After a three-year layoff, Jon Jones took center stage at UFC 285 against a very dangerous and unique heavyweight, Ciryl Gane.

In just two minutes, Jones submitted Gane in a near flawless performance to become the undisputed UFC heavyweight champion.

Colby Covington, who continues to make new foes on a daily basis, has never had kind words to share about Jones.

The two were college roommates at Iowa Central Community College for two years according to Covington, and he accused Jones of several wrongdoings such as steroid usage.

Jones has come out and denied ever sharing a room with Covington which raised many questions.

In a recent interview with James Lynch, Colby Covington said that there is a genuine possibility of match-fixing in favour of Jones.

“Honestly, it looked like it was a work,” he added. “It looks like it was a fix. Maybe Jon Jones’ brothers went over to France and told Ciryl that they’re gonna pay him under the table to take a dive because that’s honestly what it looked like.”

Jones stole the world’s attention during his return at the T-Mobile Arena, and has since reclaimed his suitable position as the pound-for-pound #1.

Surprisingly, Covington did not question this decision, and he in fact believes that Jones is deserving of that top ranking.

“He probably should,” Covington said. “He’s never lost a fight in the Octagon. He has that one loss, it’s a DQ, but his body of work definitely speaks a lot more volumes than Islam [Makhachev]. He hasn’t even defended the belt yet, so I have no problem with that.”

Colby Covington campaigns for UFC welterweight title shot

Covington was seen front row at UFC 286 yelling at Leon Edwards, calling for his title shot.

During the post fight press conference, Dana White confirmed that Colby Covington is next in line to challenge Edwards for his belt.

35-year-old ‘Chaos’ has not fought since UFC 272, where he came out with a dominant decision victory in a very personal rubber match with Jorge Masvidal.

The victory came as Lobo Gym mainstay, Grasso’s fifth consecutively at the flyweight limit since her division move – following wins over Ji Yeon Kim, Maycee Barber, Joanne Wood, and Viviane Araujo.

With the win, Grasso also joined fellow Mexican-born fighters, Brandon Moreno, and Yair Rodriguez as gold holders under the UFC banner – with the duo landing flyweight and interim featherweight spoils, respectively.

Welcoming the possibility of an immediate championship rematch with former bantamweight title challenger, Shevchenko next, Grasso suggested a September title re-run.

“I hope, so, “ Alexa Grasso said of a rematch with Valentina Shevchenko during an appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani. “I hope so. She asked for that and I would love to fight again with her. I know that she’s super competitive. I know she’s a perfectionist like me, so imagine a second fight. Truly imagine.”

“I’m wondering what she’s going to do in this second fight, what she’s going to try to do, knowing the first one, knowing what I did,” Alexa Grasso explained. “Also, I have a lot of thrings to do and improve and get better. It’s going to be like a chess match.”

“September sounds like great,” Alexa Grasso explained. “September sounds amazing, but let’s see. Of course, before the end of this year, I would like to fight. Two fights every year sounds good. I truly hope that this can be in Mexico.”

In her most recent successful title defense, Valentina Shevchenko managed to narrowly defeat Brazilian challenger, Taila Santos at UFC 275 back in June of last year in Singapore.

Recently minted undisputed UFC heavyweight champion, Jon Jones has been described as a “bad guy, who is trying to be a good guy” by long-time promotional color-commentator, Joe Rogan – who also claimed the Endicott native is likely “terrifying” to the layperson.

Jones, a former two-time undisputed light heavyweight champion to boot, snapped his three-year Octagon hiatus earlier this month atop a UFC 285 pay-per-view card in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Competing for the vacant heavyweight champion, Jones turned in a dominant, first round submission win over former interim titleholder, Ciryl Gane – stopping the Frenchman with a guillotine choke inside two minutes of the opening frame.

Turning in his fifth consecutive victory since capping off his rivalry with former two-weight champion, Daniel Cormier – Jones added to wins over Alexander Gustafsson, Anthony Smith, Thiago Santos, and Dominick Reyes with his submission over Factory MMA Paris mainstay, Gane earlier this month.

Jon Jones labelled the “undeniable” GOAT of MMA by Joe Rogan

Touted by podcast host and standup comedian, Rogan, as the “undeniable” greatest mixed martial arts fighter of all time with his submission success over Gane – the company caller also claimed Jones was attempting his best to be a “good guy” – hiding his “bad guy” tendencies.

“Jon (Jones) is what I would describe – there’s human beings that have different temperaments, different minds, and different mentalities,” Joe Rogan said on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. “And have a ruthless competitive drive, that’s almost terrifying to the ordinary person. That’s Jon Jones.”

“Jon Jones is a bad guy who is trying to be a good guy,” Joe Rogan explained. “But that guy – if we were living a thousand years ago, he would be on a horse, with the biggest battleaxe, waiting at the back, hacking heads off – and everybody would be running.”

Expected to make his Octagon return later this year, Jones accused former two-time undisputed heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic of avoiding a summer fight with him at UFC 290 in July during International Fight Week – with the Ohio veteran swiftly denying those claims from former Jackson-Wink MMA staple, Jones.

Makhachev, the current undisputed lightweight champion, headlined UFC 284 most recently back in February of this year against featherweight titleholder, Alexander Volkanovski – defending his championship in a close, unanimous decision victory over the Australian.

First minting himself as undisputed gold holder back in October of last year in Abu Dhabi, UAE atop a UFC 280 pay-per-view card – Makahchev snapped the division-best streak of Charles Oliveira in a vacant title fight, stopping the Brazilian with an arm-triangle choke.

Weighing up potential future title defenses against the likes of Beneil Dariush, and even former two-weight UFC champion, Conor McGregor – in what Makhachev has branded a lucrative fight, the Makhackala native has stressed his interest in fighting at the welterweight limit to add to his trophy cabinet.

“100 percent,” Islam Makhachev said of a potential welterweight move during an appearance on WEIGHING IN. “One day I want to fight for another belt. I know, I’m not gonna be like, you know, so [much] smaller – maybe a little bit – I’m big too. I know I can take a second belt.”

“This is my dream, you know,” Islam Makhachev said. “Two belts, two shoulders.”

In the midst of a 12-fight winning run which includes his title win and subseqeunt defense against Oliveira, and Volkanovski, respectively – Makhachev has landed victories over the likes of Bobby Green, Dan Hooker, Thiago Moises, Drew Dober, and surging Armenian contender, Arman Tsarukyan.

At the time of publication, Leon Edwards currently holds the undisputed welterweight title, however, the Birmingham native puts his belt on the line this weekend at UFC 286 against former champion and Makhachev’s Dominance MMA stablemate, Kamaru Usman.

Dana White Francis Ngannou Jon Jones Beat Him UFC

UFC president, Dana White maintains he is still uninterested in a much-anticipated heavyweight showdown between former division champion, Francis Ngannou and recently minted titleholder, Jon Jones – claiming the latter would likely defeat the Cameroon native in “exactly” the same manner he did Ciryl Gane earlier this month.

Headlining UFC 285 earlier this month in his return to the Octagon for the first time in over three years, former two-time light heavyweight champion, Jones added to his trophy cabinet with a stunning guillotine choke win over Gane – stopping the Frenchman inside two minutes.

Long linked with a potential showdown with Batié native, Ngannou – Jones saw the bout fall to the wayside – likely for the foreseeable, when the former departed the UFC back in January, after completing his contractual obligations with the promotion back in December of last year.

Dana White still unmoved by Jon Jones, Francis Ngannou fight in the future

Set to entertain offers to make a potential move to professional boxing, Ngannou’s ability to defeat Jones in a clamoured-for fight has been knocked back by UFC leader, White, who believes the former champion would face a similar fate to Gane at UFC 285.

“I’m not interested,” Dana White said of a fight between Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou during an interview with TMZ Sports. “I tried making that fight for two years. He (Francis Ngannou) didn’t want the fight. Do you know what I mean? He didn’t want the fight. He left here (the UFC) without even having another deal in place. And I know how the boxing world is. It’s crazy. But Francis didn’t want to do it.”

“I tried to make that fight for two years,” White continued. “And, let me tell you what, I think a lot of people feel this way – I think that’s exactly the way the fight [with Jones] would’ve gone if [Ngannou] was in there [at UFC 285], too. Him and Ciryl (Gane) had a five round war. If Ciryl doesn’t go for that submission, Cyril probably wins that fight at the end fo the fifth round there.”

Last week, Ngannou revealed that he had verbal talks with former WBC heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder and his team regarding a series of fights in the next 24 months – with at least one of those earmarked matches targeted for a showcase event in Africa
