Top UFC lightweight Tony Ferguson solidified his case for a UFC title shot by beating former champ Rafael dos Anjos in the main event of last night’s (Sat., November 5, 2016) UFC Fight Night 98 from the Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico.

Pressuring dos Anjos with a heavy mix of unorthodox strikes coming from many various angles, Ferguson picked up his ninth straight win and solidified his chances at a coveted title shot. ‘RDA’ did look effective early on and appeared to fade after a mid-fight eye poke seemed to slow his momentum, but Ferguson still showed why many feel he is the next champion of the dangerous UFC lightweight division.

But fights against Eddie Alvarez, Conor McGregor, and/or his oft-scheduled nemesis Khabib Nurmagomedov. While those three contests would form quite a gauntlet, Ferguson has proven to be more than ready to take on anyone and everyone.

Do you believe ‘El Cucuy’ will be UFC champ in the near future?
