Ryan Hall has had a tough time finding a dance partner. So much so, in fact, that Hall has been forced to resort to some very uncharacteristic tactics.

Hall has taken to Instagram to call out former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo, and ex-lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. The former “Ultimate Fighter” winner posted the following statement.

“Never thought I’d have to go this route, but then again, I also never imagined a laundry list of ranked professional tough guys turning down a fight with a skinny, blinky kid from the suburbs…

“Frankie Edgar and Jose Aldo are two people for whom courage won’t ever be an issue and it’s for that reason I have looked up to both since I first saw them compete years ago. Maybe one of them would be willing to step in to show everybody else how it’s done?
Pick the time and place, boys. I’ll be there.”

The 34-year-old grappling ace has gone on an eight-fight win streak since dropping his pro mixed martial arts (MMA) debut in 2006. Many of Hall’s opponents have found his heel hook technique annoyingly difficult to defend. While Hall has faced many criticisms for the entertainment value in his style, he has certainly proven himself to be an extremely difficult matchup for anyone.

What do you think about Hall calling out Aldo and Edgar?

Jorge Masvidal has been named Fighter Of The Year for 2019 by several media outlets. And much to many’s surprise, Ben Askren agrees with the choice.

Masvidal exploded after his record-breaking five-second knockout win over Askren earlier this year. It marked the first defeat of Askren’s mixed martial arts (MMA) career, and marked the beginning of a two-fight losing streak before “Funky” would decide to retire.

Speaking to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani on “The Ariel Helwani MMA Show,” Askren noted that, if he were being truly unbiased, he’d have to give the nod to Masvidal for Fighter Of The Year. (H/T MMA Junkie)

“I’d like to pick Israel Adesanya over him, but I think – I feel like that would be disingenuous,” Askren said. “If I have to look at it from a non-biased perspective, it’s freakin’ Jorge, and if you said that was going to happen a year ago, everyone would have said ‘You’re on drugs,’ or have some type of issue. But unfortunately, I think he deserves it.”

While Askren and Masvidal won’t be sending each other any Christmas cards anytime soon, the former ONE and Bellator welterweight champ holds no grudges.

“It doesn’t hurt me. That’s what it is – that’s the truth. That’s the reality of the situation: It doesn’t hurt at all,” Askren said. “Now, does it feel good? No, it doesn’t feel good, either. But it’s not … that’s what happened.”

What do you think about Askren admitting Masvidal deserves Fighter Of The Year honors?

Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson put on one of the greatest UFC title fights of all time back in 2013. After five rounds in the UFC 165 main event, Jones was awarded the unanimous decision win. However, many spectators argue that Gustafsson should’ve won the fight. With that being said, both men undoubtedly showed the heart of a champion in that bout.

Recently, Chael Sonnen took to “The Ariel Helwani MMA Show” to discuss Jones, who was talked about as, arguably, the best fighter of the past decade. Sonnen explained why Jones’ performance against Gustafsson solidified him as the best and toughest fighter in the world (H/T BJPenn.com)

“That was one of the nights when everybody else that wanted to fight Jon Jones, everybody in that division stood back and goes ‘Oh no,’” Sonnen said. “Cause here was the belief in Jon Jones, we recognized he was the best fighter. So then the question was, well is he the toughest?

“If it’s true that he’s partying like he admits, if it’s true he’s not in the gym and focused and training as his teammates will state behind his back, then it must also be true that should this fight go long and gritty and dirty, he simply can’t hold up, that’s just logic. False.

“Turned out Jon Jones was the best fighter and the toughest fighter. And you never have to be both, you can win world Olympic titles either being the best or the toughest. Nobody is ever both. Jon Jones proved how tough he is in that fight with Gus.”

Jones and Gustafsson ran things back five years later, where “Bones” won the bout via third-round TKO. Now, Jones will defend his light heavyweight title yet again in the UFC 247 main event against Dominick Reyes on February 8.

What do you think about Sonnen dubbing Jones the best and toughest fighter in the world after his win over Gustafsson?

Everyone is ready for UFC 246 later this month (Sat. January 18, 2020). In the main event of the pay-per-view (PPV), Conor McGregor will make his highly-anticipated return, taking on Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at 170 pounds.

It will be McGregor’s first fight back since suffering a submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October of 2018. One man who will likely be in attendance is Jorge Masvidal, the UFC’s BMF Champion. Masvidal recently spoke to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani on “The Ariel Helwani MMA Show” to offer his take on the matchup. “Gamebred” said he thinks McGregor can catch Cerrone, who is a slow starter, early to put things away. (via MMA Junkie)

“It can go many ways,” Masvidal said. “Conor is great off the block. He’s phenomenal off the start. ‘Cowboy’ is a slow starter. Conor has tremendous speed and timing in the beginning, good power, so I think he can catch him early.”

However, Masvidal does admit that there is a path to victory for Cerrone through his grappling. If Cerrone comes out looking to grapple early with McGregor, mixing things up in the process, we could be in store for a masterful performance from “Cowboy.”

“If ‘Cowboy’ comes out to grapple like he has in the past with decent strikers and even good grapplers like Rick Story, who he was able to take down and create a lot of offense like that … if that ‘Cowboy’ comes out, he can mix things up real nice. And then he can start to flow and get into his game of high kicks and punching and being tricky, like a dual threat to Conor.”

Cerrone has said, however, that he plans to come out and bang with McGregor. If that’s the case, Masvidal sees McGregor getting the job done within two rounds.

“If (Cerrone) just comes out to fight it out, I see Conor winning within the first two rounds.”

What do you think about Masvidal’s prediction for McGregor vs. Cerrone?
