UFC president Dana White and retired boxer Floyd Mayweather are seriously working on an event for 2020.

Last month, the pair were at a Los Angeles Clippers game with Mayweather claiming he would be coming out of retirement again for a “spectacular event’ in 2020. Many speculated that it could be a collaboration for another boxer vs. MMA fighter event. Or maybe Mayweather would be competing under Zuffa Boxing.

For now, we still don’t know. But White confirmed that there is a deal in place — at least verbally — and if everything works out, there will be an event in October or November next year:

“It’s true,” White said on The Jim Rome Show (via MMA Weekly). “We sat at the Clippers game. We started talking and we literally got a deal done right there on the court. And if things play out the way things Floyd and I think they will, I will probably sit down with Al Haymon [Mayweather’s manager] in March and get a deal on paper.

“If everything goes our way, Floyd and I would be doing something in October or November [of 2020].”

We should expect more details in the coming months.

Dana White has confirmed that he and Floyd Mayweather have reached a verbal agreement.

Last month, Mayweather had the combat sports world buzzing when he teased that something was in the works with the UFC president. “Money” and White had a conversation during an NBA game. Mayweather followed that up by claiming he was coming out of retirement in 2020.

White Claims Verbal Agreement In Place With Mayweather

White appeared on The Jim Rome Show and revealed that he’s hoping to put pen to paper in March (via MMAWeekly).

“It’s true. We sat at the Clippers game. We started talking and we literally got a deal done right there on the court. And if things play out the way things Floyd and I think they will, I will probably sit down with Al Haymon (Mayweather’s manager) in March and get a deal on paper.

“If everything goes our way, Floyd and I would be doing something in October or November (of 2020).”

Mayweather retired from professional boxing with a perfect 50-0 record. He wrapped up his career with a 10th-round TKO victory over former UFC “champ-champ” Conor McGregor. MMA News will keep you up to speed on further updates on the Dana White-Floyd Mayweather talks as they become available.

Dana White Admits Khabib vs. McGregor Rematch Can Happen If Both Men Win Upcoming Fights

UFC president Dana White revealed that a rematch between lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor is more than possible.

The two met in a heated grudge match at UFC 229 in October last year that saw Nurmagomedov come out on top with a fourth-round submission victory. McGregor has since called for the rematch numerous times — but given his drop in stock as well as his overall inactivity, it never seemed likely to happen.

But that doesn’t mean it’s dead. White appeared on the Rich Eisen Show recently and admitted that a sequel could happen provided both men win their next fights. Nurmagomedov is set to defend his title against Tony Ferguson at UFC 249 next on April 18.

McGregor, meanwhile, will return to action against Donald Cerrone in the UFC 246 headliner on January 18.

“He’s gotta beat Cowboy Cerrone, which is a very tough fight, especially at 170, without Cowboy having to cut weight,” White said (via @jedigoodman). “Then, Khabib has to beat Tony Ferguson.

“If both of those things happen, then yeah, I think we can make the rematch.”

In a separate interview, White added the reason why McGregor was fighting at 170 as opposed to 155:

“Conor is going to fight at 170 for this fight,” White added. “Mainly because he doesn’t want to have to cut the weight to 155. Him and Cerrone have both fought at 170.

“He’s hoping that he beats Cerrone and can turn right around and fight Khabib as quick as possible. So he didn’t want to make the cut twice.”

While that serves as good news for McGregor, one person definitely won’t be happy with White’s comments — Justin Gaethje.

Do you think it would be fair for McGregor to get a rematch with Nurmagomedov?

Conor McGregor may have his sights set on more than Donald Cerrone when it comes to the welterweight division.

McGregor is set to return to action for the first time in 15 months when he meets Cerrone in a welterweight matchup in the main event of UFC 246 which takes place January 18 in Las Vegas.

Many were confused as to why the Irishman was competing at 170 pounds rather than his natural weight class at 155. However, we may have an answer.

According to UFC president Dana White, McGregor wants a crack at Jorge Masvidal. White also seemed more receptive to the idea than he was in the past:

“Conor has told me he definitely wants a fight with Masvidal,” White said in an interview with 101.6-FM on Thursday (via MMA Junkie). “So we’ll see what happens.”

Masvidal brought up the idea of a McGregor fight earlier this year. However, White shut it down stating that “Gamebred” was too big for McGregor.

Since then, the pair have had a few back-and-forths on social media. And with this new revelation, it looks like it’s certainly more possible than ever — especially as McGregor tends to get what he wants.

What do you think of a McGregor vs. Masvidal matchup? Who wins?

Aniah Blanchard “went for the gun” before she was shot to her death by murder suspect Ibraheem Yazeed according to court affidavits.

Blanchard was missing since late October until remains — later confirmed to be hers — were discovered in Macon County, Alabama last month.

Ibraheem Yazeed was one of three suspects arrested in connection to her kidnapping and was recently solely charged with her murder after it came to light that Blanchard was shot dead.

“In the interests of public safety, I can say that the investigation has determined Ibraheem Yazeed to be the lone person responsible for Aniah’s abduction and her murder and he remains in the Lee County jail without bond,’’ Lee County District Attorney Brandon Hughes said. “Mr. Yazeed remains innocent of any charges against him until his guilt is proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

“From its first moments, law enforcement moved swiftly and methodically to find Aniah’s abductor, her murderer, and her. The process of seeing justice done on behalf of Aniah and her family will not be swift, but it will be thorough. It is my intention that the response to this horrific crime serve as a warning to anyone who believes they want to come to Lee County and engage in violent criminal behavior. You will be dealt with and the consequences will be severe.”

According to an unindentified person located by police (via MMA Junkie), “Yazeed was seen at a residence in Montgomery wearing only shorts, with a gun tucked into the shorts.”

The court affidavit also mentions that “during a subsequent conversation with Yazeed, Yazeed admitted to shooting a girl, and stated the girl ‘went for the gun.’”

Yazeed is set to appear in court on Thursday to face a bond revocation on his previous charges of kidnapping, attempted murder, robbery and possession of marijuana. He was notably free on bond from those charges.

Whatever Jorge Masvidal does next, it’s bound to be huge. However, longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan knows exactly what he wants to see next from “Gamebred.”

Taking to his podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” Rogan discussed all the likely scenarios for Masvidal. In Rogan’s opinion, he thinks Masvidal should fight the winner of Kamaru Usman vs. Colby Covington for the welterweight title. “I see why he would say that but I think it would be a real shame if right now in his prime of primes, he didn’t fight for the title,” Rogan said. “I just feel like he’s so close. He’s huge right now.”

Then, Rogan was asked by guest and former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub if he wants to see Masvidal fight Nick Diaz or Conor McGregor next. However, Rogan seems dead set on seeing the Floridian fight for gold.

“No,” Rogan said. “Well, I wanna see first no matter what Colby and Usman. Yes, super excited about that. Once that’s done, I want Masvidal to fight for the title whoever’s got the belt. I think if Masvidal and Nick Diaz don’t fight on the undercard, I don’t even know if they actually made that. I have no idea.

“If they do make that fight happen, I mean of course I’m gonna be excited to see it. Of course, but my thoughts are that right now we’re experiencing Masvidal in this very strange zone where you see fighters enter into it whether it’s through this rededication or refocusing of his intent and his discipline.”
