Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will finally maker her long awaited return at Dec. 30’s UFC 207 from Las Vegas, as she’s slated to take on reigning 135-pound titleholder Amanda Nunes. Rousey hasn’t competed since Nov. 2015’s UFC 193 where she suffered a brutal knockout loss to Holly Holm.

Rousey seems to be hell bent on winning back her title, although former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell, who recently spoke on the situation, feels as if she should’ve considered a tune up bout of sorts:

“It’s hard for her at her stature to come back at a smaller fight,” Liddell told TMZ Sports. “But (as a coach), I would’ve gotten her a warm-up fight, just to get mentally back in the game. Amanda Nunes is a tough, tough opponent. If you want to come back, that’s the one to come back and show you’re back.”

After ruling her division for so long, it was shocking to see Rousey to surrender her title, so it’s not surprising that she was only interested in returning for revenge, although Liddell questions where she is at mentally. Comparing her to another champion who brutally lost his title last year, the “Iceman” said that Rousey ‘folded’:

“A guy like Aldo gets knocked out, he wanted to fight that day. He wanted a shot at (McGregor) that day. That’s a fighter. That’s a guy that’s got it together up here (mentally). ‘I made a mistake, I know what I did, I want to win now.’”

“She folded,” Liddell said of Rousey. “I don’t know what happened.”

Do you agree with Liddell’s assessment of the “Rowdy” one?

A pivotal fight in the UFC women’s bantamweight division has been confirmed, as the promotion has officially announced that No. 2-ranked Valentina “Bullet” Shevchenko will face off with with No. 3-ranked Julianna “Venezuelan Vixen” Pena in the main event of a UFC Fight Night card on Jan. 28, 2016 from Denver, Colorado.

Shevchenko has won six of her last seven bouts and is coming off of the most impressive victory of her career, which was a dominant unanimous decision victory over ex-champion Holly Holm last July. “Bullet” is 2-1 inside the Octagon with her only loss under the promotional banner coming against reigning 135-pound champ Amanda Nunes.

Pena, on the other hand, is a former The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) winner and she’s put together quite the impressive resume, as she currently sits at 4-0 in the UFC. Her most recent victories have come over notable names Jessica Eye and former title challenger Cat Zingano.

Pena has been campaigning hard for a title shot and the winner of this bout will likely take on the winner of Dec. 30’s title fight between Nunes and former longtime champion Ronda Rousey.

Tickets for UFC Denver are on sale now.

Former queen of the bantamweights Ronda Rousey is coming back on December 30, as she takes on current champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 207. Sitting out for a year following her crushing loss to Holly Holm, Rousey faces not only a dangerous new champion, but also many inner demons. Having faced deep depression following her first ever pro loss, there’s a lot at stake for the once dominant champ at UFC 207.

With a loss against ‘The Lioness,’ Rousey could well retire from her illustrious fighting career. Already putting her fighting future in question, ‘Rowdy’ recently revealed her retirement is imminent, win or lose at UFC 207.

Warrior Code

In her recent UFC on FOX segment called ‘Warrior Code,’ Ronda Rousey discussed a number of subjects ahead of UFC 207. From her nerves before fight night, to sacrifice and fame, ‘Rowdy’ revealed all in this in-depth interview:

“I feel most nervous two weeks before a fight, I call it ‘two week-itus.’ It’s when I feel the most emotional, my body is the most broken down, and I literally will cry over spilt milk. By the time I actually walk out, I’m tired of being nervous, so I just do what I need to do.”

“I don’t really think of the things I give up for my fights as a sacrifice. I’m happy to devote six weeks straight just to training, and to be moving around in a body that’s the most finely tuned fighting machine in the world. I feel like the biggest sacrifices have been made long before now, so I’m happy to embrace it.”

“Everyone Has Reasons To Fight”

“I try not to call myself famous or think about it too much, because I’m scared of it. I’m really scared to lose my reference on reality. If you are socially unhealthy then you’ll be mentally unhealthy, so I’m trying to remain socially healthy so I don’t lose my reference on what’s real.”

“It’s a human sport, there’s an instinct in every person on this planet to fight, at any age. Everyone has a reason to fight. You have to have the personality to fight, and you can’t learn personality, you just have it. Fighters are born, and I was born a fighter.”

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey returns at UFC 207, entering the octagon for the first time in over a year. Having suffered the only loss of her career at UFC 193, ‘Rowdy’ was a changed woman after facing Holly Holm. Going from the biggest attraction in MMA, to a fallen queen with an unsure future, Rousey’s loss was complicating and deep on many levels. That crushing head kick, it would seem, impacted harder than anyone knew.

Although nowhere near the levels of fanfare and media frenzy she’s accustomed to, Ronda Rousey’s big comeback is being pushed hard. The reigning champion Amanda Nunes takes a back seat in the UFC 207 promotion, with trailer’s titled ‘she’s back!’ being released on the UFC Youtube channel. Regardless of the hype, this is a big challenge for the ex-champion. Facing a strong, well-rounded and heavy striking force in ‘The Lioness,’ Rousey has a lot on her plate on December 30.

Beef With Joe?

Considering her record of feuding with opponents, it comes as a surprise there’s been literally no trash talk from Ronda Rousey toward Amanda Nunes. Perhaps even more unexpected is the rift between the former champ and color commentator Joe Rogan. As per Joey Diaz’s Podcast, Rousey is fuming at Rogan over his ‘negative’ comments following her loss to Holm:

“I went to this place and bumped into this guy — I’ve met this guy a few times, he’s a big time MMA guy — and he pulled me over to say how mad Ronda Rousey was at Joe Rogan. Not only Joe Rogan, but anybody in that time period that she got knocked out, anybody who said anything of a negative air, she’s just furious, and she has a long list, and she’s very angry.”

“You know, it doesn’t pertain to me, I really don’t give a fuck.”

Negative Air?

Without sounding petulant, is Ronda Rousey confusing honesty with negativity? Let’s be frank, was there a single media outlet or personality that was reporting anything positive about Rousey’s UFC 193 performance? With the formerly dominant queen already putting the screws to her future in MMA by declaring her retirement plans, what is the real story behind UFC 207? Will we look back on her fight with Amanda Nunes as the second chapter of her inevitable demise, or is Rousey mad at Joe Rogan (and everyone else) because she knows she’s capable of much more. If the latter is the case, we could be in for one hell of a fight to round out 2016.

Former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is set to make her long awaited return to the Octagon when she meets current titleholder Amanda Nunes in the main event of Dec. 30’s UFC 207 – that is if the “Rowdy” one makes it to the cage, which former boxing champion Christy Martin isn’t sold on.

Rousey hasn’t competed since suffering a brutal knockout loss to Holly Holm at Nov. 2015’s UFC 193, and Martin feels as if she is the ‘worst public female image’, also taking a shot at Holm in a recent interview with Fight Hype:

“We will see if it happens. I would give anything if I were 10 years younger just to show her. I mean, are you kidding me? Holly Holm knocks you out? Holly Holm punches like a feather. Ronda Rousey, to me, is the worst public female image that we could ever have out there. Simply because she can not sit here and have an interview with you without cursing word after word after word. I mean, come on, we are out here to set an example for women, young women, young girls; for people in general. Talk like you are intelligent. When you have to use every other word with “f” this and “f” that, that shouts your lack of intelligence and your lack of vocabulary. Not only did she get her shit knocked out by a non-puncher, she’s a poor example for a person. I don’t think we will ever see her on December 30th unless Dana White has some serious contract on her that she can’t do anything else, including movies, commercials and so on unless she gets back in the ring. We will never see her in the ring again.”

Rousey has said that UFC 207 will mark one of the last fights of her career, so it’s likely that we won’t see much more of her, but do you see her making the walk at UFC 207, or do you agree with Martin?

Anything can happen in a mixed martial arts fight and especially in a title fight, as we’ve seen multiple UFC titles change hands over the last year. With less than two months remaining in the calendar year, the UFC is set to put on a slew of not only exciting, but competitive title fights, as well as some massive events.

Let’s take a look at six UFC titles that could potentially change hands before the year’s end:

Ronda Rouseyn

Women’s Bantamweight

Newly crowned UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes is gearing up to defend her title for the very first time when she takes on former longtime champion Ronda Rousey, a female many consider to be the best 135-pound female fighter of all-time, in the main event of Dec. 30’s UFC 207.

By the time she enters the cage, The “Rowdy” one will have spent 13 months on the sidelines, as she hasn’t competed since being brutally knocked out by Holly Holm last November. Rousey was picked apart by Holm’s superior striking and she didn’t deal with the loss well, ultimately staying out of the limelight for the majority year. With that being said, it’s difficult to tell what form of Rousey will show up and what improvements she may have made.

Nunes is no slouch and she has proven to be a vicious well-rounded fighter, but if Rousey shows up in vintage form, we could see the 135-pound title change hands.
