Dana White doesn’t see any value in buying out Bellator.

Over the last year, rumors have been swirling that Bellator was interviewing potential buyers with the biggest name being the Professional Fighters League. Initially, it was nothing more than pure speculation, but in recent months, reports have been flying that the pair are in final preparations to close a stock-laden deal that would see the PFL absorb Scott Coker’s MMA empire.

Adding fuel to the fire was the announcement that the PFL had sold a minority stake in the promotion to Saudi Arabia’s SRJ Sports Investments for $100 million. The deal also includes plans to expand into the Middle East and North Africa in 2024.

Dana White Slams PFL’s Rumored Acquisition of Bellator

Addressing members of the media following last Tuesday’s edition of Dana White’s Contender Series, the UFC President shared his honest thoughts on the proposed purchase of Bellator and whether or not the Las Vegas-based promotion could find itself as a potential suitor.

“Why on God’s green f*cking earth would anybody buy Bellator? So when we were just talking about business and making the right moves and making right decisions… There’s been lots of bad ones. Bellator would be one of the f*cking bad biggest,” White said. “Why anybody would buy Bellator is beside me. But hey, what do I know? We’ll sit back and see how this plays out. I’m excited.”

Learning that the potential asking price for Bellator is a whopping $500 million, White responded with a fair amount of sarcasm. “Bellator is $500 million dollars? Awesome. Sounds like a steal,” White quipped with a smile. “Sounds like a f*cking steal. Buy that thing quick before who else does? C’mon guys, this is f*cking silly.”

Of course, the UFC is no stranger to buying other mixed martial arts organizations. The promotion famously purchased PRIDE FC and the WEC in the early 2000s, but its biggest acquisition came in 2011 when the UFC acquired Strikeforce for $40 million, leading the way for a plethora of names to enter the Octagon, including Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller, Cung Le, Luke Rockhold, Alistair Overeem, Nick Diaz, and Dan Henderson.

The UFC allowed Strikeforce to run independently for two years until ultimately absorbing the company and signing some of the promotion’s biggest stars such as Ronda Rousey, Josh Barnett, and Daniel Cormier.

Paul, the elder brother of now 7-1 professional boxer, Jake Paul, will make his return to the squared circle for the first time since he battled former undisputed world champion, Floyd Mayweather back in June 2021 in Florida.

As for Danis, the outspoken grappling talent has yet to compete in combat sports since June 2019 under the Bellator MMA banner, where he moved to 2-0 in professional mixed martial arts courtesy of a first round armbar submission win over Max Humphey.

Logan Paul is set for a return to boxing against debutante, Dillon Danis

In the time since, the decorated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace has been sidelined through a slew of debilitating knee injuries, and is best-known for his role in multiple camps alongside former undisputed UFC featherweight and lightweight champion, Conor McGregor.

Atop the October card in England, the aforenoted Paul’s business partner, fellow YouTuber and rapper, K.S.I. (real name Olajide Olatunji) will take headlining honors in a clash against professional boxer, Tommy Fury – the half-brother of current WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, who is fresh from a February main event win over the aforenoted Jake Paul in Saudi Arabia.

0-1 as a professional, Logan Paul featured in just one professional match prior to his exhibition showing with Mayweather, dropping a split decision loss to the previously mentioned, K.S.I. in November 2019, in a rematch of a prior amateur fight.

Yet to make the walk in professional boxing, the aforenoted, Danis was scheduled to feature in an exhibition bout against K.S.I. in January of this year at Wembley Stadium in England, however, according to a MisFits promoter, the New Jersey grappler was forced to withdraw from the matchup due to a lack of preparation.

Can Logan Paul land a victory over Dillon Danis his in return to boxing?

UFC exec notes interest in signing Michael Page from Bellator it would be exciting

Hitting the open market as one of the most eye-catching free agents in the history of the sport, former Bellator MMA welterweight title challenger Michael Page has been continually linked with an eventual transition to the UFC, particularly in the wake of his free agency landing, with a promotional executive noting the organization’s interest in signing the British striker.

Page, a former interim welterweight title challenger under the banner of the Scott Coker-led Bellator MMA, challenged for divisional gold back in May of last year on home soil, suffering a split decision win against Logan Storley in London.

Bouncing back to the winner’s enclosure at Bellator 292 back in March, Michael Page turned in a first round leg kick TKO win over Goiti Yamauchi in just 26-seconds of their clash.

21-2 as a professional, Page, a staple of London Shootfighters, confirmed he was currently on the open market, and is testing free agency amid his storied career with Bellator MMA.

Michael Page appeared at UFC London over the weekend

And appearing at UFC London over the course of the weekend, Page, 36, was linked with a potential Octagon move in the future, with UFC executive, David Shaw claiming the London native’s move to the organization would be “exciting”.

“Perhaps (the UFC is interested in signing Michael Page),” David Shaw told assembled media following UFC London. “I’ve got no idea. I assume that we would, given the fact that he’s here. Maybe he’s a free agent, but definitely a question for Dana (White). We were talking about it the other day, a long list of individuals who’ve come over and done really well in other promotions that have come over. Look at (Justin) Gaethje and (Michael) Chandler, and a few other guys. It would be pretty exciting to add him to the mix, for sure.” (Transcribed by BJPENN.com)

In his sole other professional loss, Page suffered a thunderous second round KO loss to former Bellator MMA welterweight champion, Douglas Lima back in 2018.

Across his professional career, Page has landed notable career wins over the likes of Evangelista Santos, Paul Daley, Ross Houston, Derek Anderson, Douglas Lima, and the above-mentioned, Yamauchi.

Rampage Jackson titties Darril Schoonover

Rampage Jackson, the beloved MMA legend, is considering making a comeback against some old foes. Jackson has a hit list, and he’s eager to cross off the names on it while he’s in shape and before he’s too old.

Last active in 2019, Jackson’s last fight was against Fedor Emelianenko at Bellator 237. Things didn’t go his way and Emelianenko finished him with a nasty right cross. At the time, fans could see that Jackson had put on a lot of weight. He was a far cry from the shredded monster that would pick grown men up over his head and slam them.

However, Rampage Jackson has spent a lot of time getting back into shape and feels he is ready now to make one last foray into the world of Combat Sports.

Rampage Jackson speaks on his plans for a comeback and has a list of names he’d like to cross off

In an interview with Middle Easy, Rampage Jackson delved into the details of the comeback he is plotting on. He spoke about life, his career, and the funny experience he had with Darrill Schoonover on TUF 10. See, Jackson had dubbed Schoonover as ‘Titties’, and while it was funny, it actually segued into what is now an ancient beef.

“I’m in talks now with ‘titties’, I mean, Darrill Schoonover,” Rampage Jackson told Middle Easy. “I’m in talks right now with his brother. His brother hit me up and I’m seeing if Darrill’s interested in fighting. If Darrill beat me in this fight, I would never call him titties again. Never ever would I even mutter the word titties and him in the same sentence again. In the same sentence, I would never do that again.”

“We was on the show, ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ and I can’t remember exactly how the beef started,” Jackson said, speaking about his issues with Schoonover (H/T Middle Easy). “Him and I, we was pretty cool and truth be told at first, he didn’t mind the nickname ‘Titties’. But I think it got outta hand, it just got outta control.”

“People call me a bully and, and I don’t believe making fun of someone that made fun of you is bullying. I just feel like I won the banter and so now I’m a bully. The world’s gotten so soft. Things got really bad, people started calling him titties and stuff and now he hate me. But, I was going to fight him on the show cause he got in my face and I don’t forget that.”

Rampage Jackson reveals some more names on his ‘hit list’

Rampage Jackson would also speak on his hit list, and how he’d like to cross all of the names off of it and settle some old feuds and rivalries from his career.

“I wanted to start this whole thing where I do all my grudge matches before I got too old. Just fight everybody I don’t like, if I don’t like you, come and fight man. And now that UFL is a thing and I would like to promote UFL and get it more popular cause I believe in the company. So I wanna do my grudge matches in the UFL. Titties is first on my hitlist: Darrill Schoonover.”

“We got a couple other people on my hit list. I still owe Wanderlei [Silva] one more fight. Cause we’re 2-2. Too bad Shogun [Rua] just retired, I wanna rematch with him cause he beat me one time when I was injured and I never got that one back. There’s a couple people on my hit list.”

Do you think Rampage Jackson will actually make an MMA comeback?

Cris Lencioni

Chael Sonnen has shared that Bellator fighter Cris Lencioni is currently in hospital after losing consciousness during a training session.

Cris Lencioni is currently booked to face James Gallagher at Bellator 298 in just under two months, unfortunately though it seems that 11-3 pro has been hospitalised. Sonnen took to his YouTube channel to break the very sad news, saying that ‘Sunshine’ lost consciousness during a routine raining session but quick thinking training partners and coaches sprung to action.

“He was at a new gym, they invited him out there and said hey, we got some good bodies, some good coaching and we would love to have you. Cris took them up on it and went to a new gym,” Sonnen said. “He was in the process of working out, they were doing MMA sparring, they happened to be in a grappling situation, at the time Cris lost consciousness, he was not in the process of being punched or choked or anything like that. He was just in the process of getting his workout in and lost consciousness.

The folks at the gym, and thank heavens for them, they just sprung into action, called 911 and an ambulance comes. Cris Lencioni had not gained consciousness.” (H/T BJPenn.com)

Sonnen revealed that a week on, Lencioni has not yet gained consciousness, but signs are pointing to him waking up.

“They get an ambulance and get him to the hospital,” Sonnen continued. This was a week ago, immediately, they believed the following day, Cris would regain consciousness, and he himself could share some insight on how did we got here. “When the next day came and he didn’t regain consciousness, that wasn’t alarming, they just said, hey look it’s going to be the next day. In the process of all this, Cris’ wife is able to get out there and be by his side as this started to unfold…

“Cris is in the hospital, he has not regained consciousness. They have his vitals, they got his signs, they are able to do all sorts of things. Everything does steer to the direction that he will regain consciousness and then we go from there,” Sonnen concluded about Lencioni.

Incidents like this are rare, and hopefully the MMA community can rally round and support Lencioni in this truly difficult time.

Yoel Romero

Former UFC middleweight title contender Yoel Romero stepped into the main event spotlight at Bellator 297 on Friday night, challenging Vadim Nemkov for the Bellator light heavyweight championship.

Romero earned his opportunity at Bellator gold after scoring back-to-back third-round knockouts against Alex Polizzi and Melvin Manhoef last year. Standing in his way of becoming a champion for the first time in his career is Vadim Nemkov, a 16-2 fighter who has never been dated under the Bellator banner. In fact, Nemkov has not experienced a loss in more than seven years. The protege of heavyweight legend Fedor Emelianenko looked to keep that streak alive in the Second City.

Vadim Nemkov appeared to be in control throughout the first three rounds, but Romero showed signs of life near the halfway point of the fight, landing some solid strikes that appeared to have the defending champ in danger. Unfortunately, Romero’s moments were few and far between, as Nemkov’s speed dominated the contest. Romero was able to score a takedown in the final minute of the matchup but ultimately failed to do anything with it, leaving the contest in the hands of the judges.

Official Result: Vadim Nemkov def. Yoel Romero via unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 49-46)
