Jake Paul wrestles with UFC star Bo Nickal ahead of MMA debut

Social media superstar Jake Paul was seen grappling with one of the hottest prospects in the UFC, Bo Nickal.

Although this may come as a surprise, the 26-year-old could use as much help as he could get heading into his PFL debut sometime this year.

Paul, who has often been ridiculed for fighting MMA fighters in a boxing ring rather than a cage, announced that he would be signing with the PFL on January 5th.

The now professional turned boxer has no MMA experience, so a session with grappling phenom Nickal certainly does not stain his learning period.

Nickal is a former three-time NCAA Division 1 national wrestling champion.

The 27-year-old middleweight is no veteran of the game himself, having only made his MMA debut in 2022, yet he has rallied an immense support in his brief 4-0 career.

This involves three-straight first round submissions under the UFC branch, including his pay-per-view debut where he flawlessly choked Jamie Pickett at UFC 285, as a massive -1800 favourite.

The two may not share much in common, but Nickal has offered to assist Jake Paul’s transition to MMA in the past, and he is signed under Paul’s betting company, Betr.

Jake Paul, who is coming off his first defeat in professional boxing against Tommy Fury, is yet to announce whether his next fight will take place in boxing or MMA, but a bout with the PFL in the near future is inevitable.

The heavily criticized Ohio native was very much disliked by the MMA community in the past, feuding with stars online such as Nate Diaz, Conor McGregor, and Jorge Masvidal to name a few.

Although, he was similarly hated for his antics heading into professional boxing, and he would like to prove his doubters wrong in an identical fashion.

Paul’s multi-year historic deal with the PFL includes a co-created pay-per-view division called “PFL PPV Super Fight,” a division that guarantees fighters will receive 50% of revenue from its events.

The PFL have not exactly hinted at Jake Paul’s potential opponents, although Paul was rumoured to have offered free agent Nate Diaz a two-fight deal.

Will Jake Paul reach the same stardom in MMA as he did in boxing?

Deontay Wilder Frontrunner Francis Ngannou Boxing Fight

It’s been a couple months since former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou was released from his contract, and he’s been in search of an opponent ever since.

Ngannou is looking to compete in boxing and there was talk of him facing WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury for some time, but it appears he’s looking in a different direction at this point.

The former heavyweight champion recently went onto Ariel Helwani‘s MMA Hour to discuss what’s next for him.

Helwani asked Francis Ngannou if former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder was a match up he’s interested in:

“Yes, we have had the conversation and at this moment we are closer (with him) than anyone else.”

Helwani then asked when this match-up could take place:

“Maybe sometime this summer, maybe from the beginning or the end of summer.”

Ngannou then stated he doesn’t know whether the fight will take place in the USA or elsewhere, before answering if this would be a one-off, or if the two will rematch in MMA:

“Well it depends how serious he is. For me I think there’s more interest in boxing because I will give him more challenge than he can give me a challenge in MMA. I think (fighting) him in MMA would be a very easy one.”

Would you like to see Francis Ngannou face Deontay Wilder?

Ryan Garcia

Undefeated lightweight Ryan Garcia will return to the squared circle on April 22 for a highly anticipated showdown with Gervonta Davis.

With a little over a month to go before the 23-fight winner steps back into the ring, TMZ Sports caught up with Ryan Garcia to get his take on a potential matchup between boxing icon Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather and ‘The Problem Child’ Jake Paul. Garcia suggested that Mayweather would likely come out on top, but is confident that ‘Money’ won’t be able to finish the YouTuber-turned-professional boxer.

Floyd’s getting up there in age, but he’ll probably still beat up Jake, but guess what? Jake won’t get knocked out,” Garcia said. “I’ll 100% that. He couldn’t knock out Logan.”

Ryan Garcia Comments on Altercation Between Floyd Mayweather and Jake Paul

Earlier this week, Floyd Mayweather and Jake Paul made headlines when the two parties had a brief altercation outside of the Miami Heat vs. Cleveland Cavaliers basketball game on Wednesday night. In a video released by TMZ, ‘Money’ appeared to approach Paul with a rather large entourage. Reportedly taking issue with comments Paul made about him previously, ‘The Problem Child’ can be seen running away from the situation after recognizing he was hilariously outnumbered.

“You shouldn’t be running up on a guy with 50 dudes,” Garcia commented. “That ain’t right if you want the truth of that, but it is what it is. I ain’t worried about that. I’m worried about knocking out Gervonta Davis and hopefully, Jakes comes out and shows everybody, ‘I’m with Ryan. Ryan’s gonna knock him out and put him to sleep.’

WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, and WBA, IBO, IBF, and WBO heavyweight gold holder, Oleksandr Usyk have reportedly reached a verbal agreement on a title fight – which will attempt to determine an undisputed heavyweight champion for the first time in a four belt era.

According to an initial report from Fight Freaks Unite, Fury and Usyk have now reached a verbal agreement on a potential April fight at Wembley Stadium in London, England – in a bid to determine the undisputed heavyweight champion.

Initially a sticking point for the long-awaited heavyweight showdown between the duo was the proposed 70/30 revenue split in favor of Fury – which undefeated Ukraine puncher, Usyk had first taken issue with.

However, according to WBA president, Jesus Mendoza, a breakthrough has been reached between the duo, with handlers for both informing the former how a tentative agreement has been reached, ahead of contract talks.

“It seems Oleksandr Usyk versus Tyson Fury will happen,” Mendoza said. “There is an agreement between Usyk and Fury. They will provide a contract and dates. They are basically saying an agreement has been reached, let’s work on the contracts.” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie

Tyson Fury most recently competed in December of last year

Boasting an undefeated 33-0-1 professional record, Morecambe native, Tyson Fury managed to most recently secure a third career win over veteran, Derek Chisora with a tenth round TKO win back in December of last year at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, retaining his WBC heavyweight crown.

As for Usyk, the undefeated former cruiserweight has landed an impressive 20-0 professional record, twice defeating British heavyweight standout, Anthony Joshua in a title victory and immediate defense in his last two ring walks – the most recent of which came in August of last year in Saudi Arabia.

First winning the heavyweight titles currently held by Usyk back in November 2015, Fury travelled to Dusseldorf, Germany – defeating Russian veteran, Wladimir Klitschko.

Dana White believes the confrontation between Floyd Mayweather and Jake Paul earlier this week was nothing more than a stunt.

On Wednesday evening, ‘Money’ rolled up on Jake Paul outside of the Miami Heat vs. Cleveland Cavaliers basketball game. Mayweather and his entourage approached ‘The Problem Child’ and the two parties shared some words before Paul ran away, knowing he was in an unfavorable situation. Paul later used the altercation as an opportunity to call for a fight with Mayweather on Instagram.

Speaking with TMZ Sports, UFC president Dana White shared his thoughts on the incident, believing it was nothing more than a publicity stunt between the two to muster up attention for a potential fight.

Dana White Calls Bullsh*t on Floyd Mayweather/Jake Paul Incident

“I just can’t see Floyd doing that,” White said. “I can’t see Floyd rolling up on somebody and doing that. It’s not Floyd’s style. It’s not really his personality. I thought it was a skit.”

“I’m not buying it,” Dana White continued. When’s the last time you saw Floyd Mayweather act like a thug and roll up on somebody with 50 people? That’s just not what Floyd does. Yeah, I’m not buying it.”

After TMZ released video of the incident, sources associated with Mayweather claimed that they were not lying in wait for Jake Paul outside of the arena, but was upset over comments made by Paul that the boxing icon believes crossed the line. “Jake crossed the line. This wasn’t about grabbing a hat. This was about Jake’s comments to Floyd about Floyd’s deceased family member and other below-the-belt inappropriate behavior,” a source associated with Mayweather said.

Addressing the situation on social media Paul said, “You wanna run it one on one, no problem. But I’m not dumb. Okay? I’m tough, I don’t need to prove my toughness., but I’m not f*cking dumb. I’m not gonna sit there and try to fight 50 dudes.
