When UFC President Dana White announced late last night (July 6, 2016) that Jon Jones had been pulled from his highly-anticipated main event rematch with Daniel Cormier just days before UFC 200 (July 9, 2016) due to a potential anti-doping violation, Brock Lesnar hadn’t yet been made aware that his scheduled co-main event bout with Mark Hunt had been promoted to main event status.

When he was finally made aware of the situation, Lesnar said that it was ‘unprofessional’ of Jones. The former heavyweight champion also expressed his disappointment for Cormier, who has trained long and hard to get his revenge on “Bones”:

“It’s unfortunate for DC, I guess,” Lesnar told MMAFighting.com. “I feel a little bad for DC. Guys go hard, they go through training camps and put lots of time in and that’s where DC really gets the short end of the stick. It’s really unprofessional of anybody of this caliber when something like that happens.”

Ironically, Lesnar, who headlined the massive UFC 100 card back in 2009, will now headline UFC 200 in his return after nearly five years away from fighting. Despite now being faced with the daunting task of carrying the landmark event on his shoulders, Lesnar doesn’t appear to be worried:

“It’s unfortunate,” Lesnar said of Jones. “It’s unprofessional. That’s just what it is. What else can I say? Merry Christmas to Brock Lesnar.”

“I’ve been in the business long enough — the entertainment industry, the fight game — the show still goes on,” Lesnar said. “Regardless of where I’m at on the card, the show is gonna happen. I’m just thankful that I got through training camp healthy and I’m here. Merry Christmas to Brock Lesnar.”

Do you expect UFC 200 to take a hit in terms of pay-per-view buys with Jones now off the card?

Brock Lesnar Fires Back At Steroid Accusations With Humorous Response

Brock Lesnar is a freak of nature plain and simple. The former UFC heavyweight champion and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) professional wrestler has a monstrous physique, and it’s understandable why many have questioned whether or not that physique came naturally given that there simply aren’t many people built like “The Beast”.

With that being said, questions and criticisms regarding drug testing stirred up quite quickly when Lesnar announced that he would be making his return to fighting at July 9’s UFC 200 from Las Vegas, Nevada. Under the new USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) guidelines, a fighter coming out of retirement must be submitted into the testing pool four months prior to when he or she plans on competing. Announcing his return just weeks before the July 9th show, this wasn’t an option for Lesnar so the UFC handed him an exception.

Perhaps it’s clear why the masses would be worried about the situation, but Lesnar has indeed been tested an insane amount of times in his short stint in the USADA pool. “The Beast” has also never failed a drug test. In fact, he’s been dealing with these questions his whole life.

On a recent UFC 200 media call that took place yesterday (June 31, 2016), Lesnar fired back at the steroid accusations with a humorous and simple response:

“I’ve been dealing with that my entire life,” Lesnar said during yesterday’s UFC 200 media conference call (via MMA Junkie). “What do you want me to say? I’m a white boy and I’m jacked, deal with it.”

Well, there you have it. As Lesnar said, perhaps he really just is ‘jacked’, and until a failed drug test says otherwise, we may need to lay off of the former heavyweight champion, and simply enjoy his return.

There have been few bigger stars than Lesnar in the history of the sport, and in just over a week we will see him clash with slugger Mark Hunt in the co-main event of arguably the biggest card of all-time.

That’s something special.

The monumental UFC 200 card is just over a week away as the event is slated for July 9, 2016 from the brand new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Featuring three title fights and some of the biggest names in the sport, UFC 200 could very well could go down as the biggest card in promotional history.

One fight that has stuck out lies in the co-main event slot, as former UFC heavyweight champion and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) performer Brock Lesnar will make his highly-anticipated return to action against knockout artist. Mark Hunt. Despite being one of the biggest draws in the history of the sport, Lesnar, who main evented UFC 100, won’t headline the show, as the main attraction features a long-awaited rematch between Daniel Cormier and pound-for-pound king Jon “Bones” Jones.

Jones will attempt to recapture the light heavyweight title he lost to trouble with the law rather than an opponent, and get back to ruling the division. A few more defenses of the strap likely remain for Jones if he topples Cormier, but Lesnar’s future with the UFC is unclear after July 9th.

One interesting suggestion that came from an MMA insider on Twitter earlier today (June 29, 2016) was that Jones, who has touched upon a potential jump to heavyweight in the past, and Lesnar do battle next if both come out victorious:

While this thought may seem a bit outlandish and unrealistic, Jones’ manager, Malki Kawa, replied to the tweet saying that he ‘could see’ the potentially massive clash taking place:

Would you be interesting in seeing the pound-for-pound king dance with “The Beast”?

Heading into his most recent fight at EFN 50 last Friday (June 17, 2016), legendary heavyweight Fedor “The Last Emperor” Emelianenko was reportedly “closer than ever” to signing with the UFC.

But then the fight took place, and the situation became quite a bit cloudier.

Perhaps unsurprising to many, a 38-year-old Emelianenko simply looked like a fighter far past his prime, and he certainly didn’t look like the version of himself that was considered to be the very best heavyweight of all-time who went nearly ten years without surrendering a defeat.

Taking on a much smaller Fabio Maldonado, Emelianenko was bloodied, battered, and nearly finished early before recovering and fighting back to secure a highly questionable majority decision. In the aftermath of the bout, many were calling for the Russian legend to retire, and it appeared as if far less fans wanted to see him finally compete under the UFC banner.

While it’s clear that his skills aren’t where they once were, the UFC is a business, and Emelianenko is and always has been a huge draw. UFC President Dana White even said that his fight, which was broadcasted live on UFC Fight Pass, did very well from a ratings standpoint.

Emelianenko’s future with the UFC is unclear, but it’s quite an interesting time to look at the top five UFC opponents for “The Last Emperor” if he were to indeed sign with the promotion (listed in no particular order).

No. 8-ranked UFC heavyweight Mark “The Super Samoan” Hunt is without question one of the heaviest hitters in the sport of mixed martial arts. A feared puncher with a lifetime of kickboxing experience under his belt, Hunt has produced some of the most brutal knockouts that we’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing.

The legendary striker will clash with returning former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar in the co-main event of July 9’s UFC 200 from the all-new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The bout seems to display the classic striker vs. grappler contest, and many are predicting Hunt to put Lesnar away as he’s done to so many other helpless victims.

Leading up to the highly-anticipated clash, we here at LowKickMMA thought it’d be the perfect time to take a look back the illustrious career of “The Super Samoan”. Excluding his kickboxing matches, let’s check out eight times that Hunt absolutely destroyed his opponent in an MMA fight.

Daniel Cormier Compares Brock Lesnar’s UFC Return To Christmas

Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar’s return at next month’s (July 9, 2016) UFC 200 has sure over shadowed the event’s highly anticipated main event between reigning 205-pound champion Daniel “DC” Cormier and ex-champion Jon “Bones” Jones. Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar’s return at next month’s (July 9, 2016) UFC 200 has sure over shadowed the event’s highly anticipated main event between reigning 205-pound champion Daniel “DC” Cormier and ex-champion Jon “Bones” Jones.

Cormier has no issue with this, however, as he recently compared Lesnar’s return to ‘Christmas time’ on yesterday’s (June 13, 2016) edition of The MMA Hour:

“So I started to ask everyone when I heard about it because, you know, I got it from a pretty reliable source. I messaged Brock. I said, ‘Hey Brock, is it Christmas time in the Cormier household? Because Brock Lesnar equals pay-per-view buys.’ But he didn’t respond. Then finally after the commercial ran, I got a response from Brock that said, ‘Merry Christmas DC.’ And I was like ‘You got to be kidding me!’ I had to take a moment, sit in the corner a little bit and try to compose myself. It’s tremendous, man.”

In Cormier’s opinion, his rematch with Jones is the biggest fight available in mixed martial arts (MMA) as of now. With that being said, adding Lesnar’s return into the mix should provide for fireworks in Las Vegas:

“It’s a big event; you got Brock Lesnar who you can argue is the biggest star in UFC history. And I believe you have the most important fight that UFC can put on right now. I love Nate, love Conor, it’s a huge fight, but what is it for? It isn’t for a belt. It’s not going to lead to a title shot, it’s a fight that people just want to see because it’s an attraction. When it comes to Jon and I, you have the most important fight UFC can put on at the most important event.”

The card will feature three title fights including the main event, and Lesnar will face off with veteran slugger and legendary knockout artist Mark Hunt in the co-main event.

Is UFC 200 the biggest event of all-time?
