The mixed martial arts (MMA) community hasn’t taken lightly to the UFC making an exception for Brock Lesnar in terms of his USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) drug testing requirements.

Lesnar will be coming out of retirement to make his return at July 9’s UFC 200 against Mark Hunt. Typically when a fighter comes out of retirement, he would have to let USADA know four months in advance so that he could be entered into the drug testing pool.

With the event being less than a month away, however, Lesnar was dismissed from this requirement. Given his insane physique, many have been rubbed the wrong way by the situation.

Retired UFC fighter Brendan Schaub recently spoke on the ‘fishy’ situation on an edition of his podcast:

“He (Lesnar) could have gotten off of them, and tailored off. Now he can fight and be clean. So I’m retired and let’s say they want me to fight; I have to give the drug testing sanction, body a four-month heads up like, ‘Hey, I am thinking about fighting.’ They will be like ‘Okay, you have four months where we are going to test you and you got to be clean.’ He skipped all of that and now he only has four weeks where they can test him. Does no one think this is fishy? Hey man, you can’t do that.”

Not only does Schaub think the situation is a bit strange, but he also feels as if Hunt should show up to UFC 200 ‘juiced to the gills’:

“Mark Hunt should be able to take whatever he wants. Mark Hunt should come juiced to the gills and look like f**king Chong Li from Blood sport with traps from here to here. F**k you!”

In closing, Schaub once again claimed that Lesnar’s situation just seems a bit off:

“So maybe six months ago he told Dana, ‘Hey man I want to fight.’ And Dana was like, ‘Cool, well listen you know there is that four-month window.’ And he’ll say, ‘Okay, let’s see how we can work around this,’ If this doesn’t signal to every human being in the world that he’s probably on stuff.”

Are you worried that Lesnar has effectively worked the system?

The mixed martial arts (MMA) world was stunned when the UFC announced last weekend (June 4, 2016) that former heavyweight champion and current WWE wrestler Brock Lesnar would be making his return to the Octagon at July 9’s UFC 200 from The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The masses were even more surprised when Lesnar himself announced that he would be taking on No. 8-ranked slugger Mark Hunt in the co-main event of the blockbuster pay-per-view (PPV).

After nearly five years away from the sport, many had expected Lesnar to be booked against a lower-ranked opponent. Instead, however, he was thrown to the wolves, and will be facing off with perhaps the division’s most feared puncher. “The Super Samoan” possesses a decorated kickboxing background, and still has some gas left in the tank at age 42 as he’s compiled a winning streak that features back-to-back brutal knockouts.

With that being said, it’s understandable why many are picking Hunt to put Lesnar away at UFC 200. However, it’s also interesting to flip the script and look at the fight from another angle for a moment.

Let’s take a look at five reasons why Brock Lesnar just might destroy Mark Hunt next month.

Ariel Helwani Denies Joe Rogan’s Report On Brock Lesnar Fiasco

The UFC has lifted its lifetime ban on highly-touted journalist Ariel Helwani, but the mixed martial arts (MMA) community hasn’t dropped the situation just yet.

Ultimately, Helwani was escorted out of The Forum last Saturday (June 4, 2016) prior to the main event after breaking the news of Brock Lesnar’s return before the UFC could announce it themselves. Helwani’s credentials were also taken away.

The MMA world was thrown into an uproar, lobbying behind the Canadian journalist, and the UFC eventually reversed its actions.

However, as he detailed on an intense edition of The MMA Hour last Monday (June 6, 2016), his relationship with the UFC has always been a rocky one.

From Helwani’s side, he explained that he was simply doing his job.

UFC color commentator Joe Rogan recently touched on the situation, however, detailing what he thought to be the UFC’s view on the situation. Rogan claimed that the UFC felt as if there was a ‘mole’ feeding Helwani information, and that the promotion actually warned the journalist prior to his breaking of the news:

“That’s cool, because that means that public support made them lift that. But it also must mean that they worked out whatever the f*ck it was. See, this is what they were saying, this is what I’m hearing, okay. I haven’t talked to Ariel, but let me just give me the UFC perspective. The UFC perspective was that there was a mole. They believed that someone was giving Ariel information, and that information he was using to scoop the UFC’s official promotions. So the UFC, which is a private company, they don’t have to have… you don’t have to let people into your business, if you’re a private company, to come and report. So they were feeling that somehow or another he was getting a hold of this inside information, and releasing it, and making them look bad.”

“Now, I get the UFC’s perspective. They would wanna know who the f’ck is leaking this secret information, and that they don’t want this guy taking this information and putting it live. Now from what I understand, the conversation with him was, ‘Don’t do this, because if you do this, there’s only a hand full of people who know this information. So we’re gonna fire everybody. We’re gonna fire a bunch of people and you’re gonna ruin people’s lives’. This is what I was told, was a conversation they had with him. After the conversation he leaked the Brock Lesnar stuff.” Rogan said on a recent edition of his podcast.

Helwani then quickly took to his official Twitter account to reject Rogan’s theory:

What do you make of the latest in this ever evolving story?

Brock Lesnar’s UFC Return Could Send Ronda Rousey To Wrestlemania

After the recent announcement that former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar would be making his return to the Octagon at July 9’s blockbuster UFC 200 from Las Vegas, Nevada, many had wondered what was in it for the WWE.

After all, Lesnar is still under contract with the professional wrestling organization so why would Vince McMahon let one of his biggest stars go off and compete in the UFC?

Lesnar made it seem as if McMahon was simply allowing him to follow his dreams, but perhaps the WWE is also hoping to use the deal as leverage in luring in some UFC stars to participate in WWE events in the near future.

For example, it was recently reported that rising star and women’s strawweight contender Paige VanZant could potentially appear at ‘SummerSlam’ later this summer.

According to Forbes, that’s not all the WWE is hoping for, however.

Aside from some added promotion to ‘SummerSlam’, which Lesnar will also compete at, the WWE is hoping to have former UFC bantamweight champion and mega star “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey participate at the highly-anticipated Wrestlemania 33 in Orlando, Florida.

Rousey actually appeared in the ring at Wrestlemania 31 in a segment, but the WWE is now hoping to book her for a legitimate wrestling match as opposed to just an appearance.

Rousey hasn’t competed in the Octagon since shockingly surrendering her title in brutal fashion to Holly Holm at November 2015’s UFC 193 from Melbourne, Australia.

Her return to MMA has been discussed, rumored, and pushed back time and time again, and there is no official date as of now.

Will we see the former champion next in the Octagon or the WWE ring?

Shane Carwin Targeting UFC Title, Brock Lesnar Rematch

41-year-old former UFC heavyweight slugger Shane Carwin retired from the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA) a few years back and hasn’t competed since 2011 after suffering a series of injuries that would force him out of the cage.

At the time, however, the former title challenger was a force to be reckoned with in the heavyweight division, compiling a 4-2 UFC record with four stoppage victories as well as a 12-2 overall record.

Five years later, Carwin may not be done yet.

Apparently healthy, Carwin recently spoke with getmoresports.com, admitting that he’s been ‘pondering a comeback’. And if he were to make a return, the knockout artist knows exactly what he wants: the UFC heavyweight title, or a rematch with ex-champion and professional wrestler Brock Lesnar:

“I am rehabbing and pretty much recovered,” Carwin said. “I am pondering a comeback. I just need the right motivation or opponent. I’d like to get the belt and retire after defending it. Or just beat up Brock again.

“I still compete with the best of them and could beat any of them.”

Lesnar and Carwin faced off back at UFC 116 in July 2010 with Lesnar’s then held heavyweight strap hanging in the balance. Carwin actually dished out quite a beating on Lesnar in the first round, sending a bloodied champion back to his corner before unfortunately suffering a submission loss to Lesnar in the second stanza.

Clearly confident that he could still compete with the best, what do you make of Carwin contemplating a potential return to action? Is it realistic? Can he still hang with the elite at this stage of his career?
