Yesterday’s third world tour stop in New York for August 26’s over-the-top Mayweather vs. McGregor was a disappointing letdown from Wednesday’s buzzing Toronto presser, and it’s safe to say Conor McGregor did himself little favors in Brooklyn after coming out looking like a megastar North of the Border.

Much of that stemmed from his response to allegations of racism earlier in the week when he called Mayweather ‘boy’ and told him to ‘dance for him,’ but the UFC front man took things to an all-new – and many believe disgusting – level yesterday in responding to the accusations.

Instead of quiet the storm, McGregor simply got vulgar with repeated sex references:

“Let’s address the race,” McGregor said. “A lot of media seem to be saying I’m against black people. That’s absolutely f*cking ridiculous! Do they not know I’m half black? Yeah, I’m half black from the belly-button down! And just to show that’s squashed, here’s a little present for my beautiful, black, female fans (humps air slowly).”

Perhaps it was in the name of gamesmanship and promotion, two things McGregor obviously ranks towards the top of the world at, namely when he’s attempting to hype up what will most likely be his biggest fight of all-time. But the words were a microcosm of the entire New York press conference, a deflating show of pompous machismo that was doomed before it began after “The Notorious” left fans waiting for nearly two hours.

He downplayed the comments during his post-press conference media scrum as well, insisting he had no prejudice against his opponent or anyone else solely based on race:

“That doesn’t sit well with me,” said McGregor. “I’m very multi-cultural and a very multi-cultured individual, and I don’t have any ill feelings toward any – I don’t even see color. I just wanted to say something and have a little bit of fun with it.

“I just wanted to play with it and address it in my own little way. It’s stupid, and it’s ridiculous is basically what I was getting at.”

Regardless of his intentions, his comments are beginning to cross the line, so much so that Mayweather began to change his tune from earlier in the week when he just planned to shrug McGregor’s supposed racism off. Now, the legendary boxer believes the Irishman’s words are becoming offensive to the female members of his family, and it’s losing him a lot of fans in his own post-presser segment via MMA Junkie:

“This is an event where two fighters are competing against one another, but saying a lot of racist things like today toward black women,” Mayweather said. “I have two black daughters, a black mother, of course I’m a black man.

“He’s crossing the line, but I can’t really focus on that right now. I’m here to do a job, and my job is to go out there and entertain. But he’s losing a lot of fans by doing that.”

Mayweather continued on about the discrimination courtesy of MMA Fighting, adding that he also said some things he should not have when he was a younger man like McGregor, believing that the UFC champion will regret the things he did when he gets older:

“Disrespecting my daughter, disrespecting the mother of my daughter, disrespecting black women, calling black people monkeys is totally disrespectful. I have a diverse team. A diverse staff. And when I was young, I may have said some things I shouldn’t have said because I was young. But you live, you learn and you don’t say those things when you get to a certain age because it’s all about growth and maturity.

“Today, he came out today and did it again…I guess when he gets older he’ll look back and say I probably shouldn’t have said that,” Mayweather said.

Well, a third stop on theMayweather and McGregor world tour took the star fighters to Brooklyn, but this time the scene could not produce the same fireworks as yesterday’s epic event from Toronto.

With over 13,000 people packed into the Barclays Center on Thursday night, the tension was palpable while waiting for “The Notorious” to arrive. It took McGregor quite some time to show up, but when he did, he couldn’t match the excitement generated in Los Angeles and Toronto on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

Once again, the crowd appeared to support the Irishman, but Mayweather came prepared and generally seemed to enjoy himself in the presence of McGregor’s insane brand of self-promotion. It was “Money” who did the most by showering McGregor in one-dollar bills and even ‘forming Voltron’ around his Irish opponent, but overall, the event just didn’t quite deliver.

Check out what the fight world had to say about the lackluster night of trash talk between two of the world’s best self-promoters:

There were few true highlights to write home about at tonight’s third stop on the Mayweather vs. McGregor press conference world tour from Brooklyn, New York.

Fans were forced to wait two hours for either star athlete to show up, and when they did, the one-liners and trash talk just didn’t match up to yesterday’s electrifying Toronto presser, although it admittedly had an impossible bar set up for New York.

That didn’t mean there weren’t a few entertaining moments, such as when Mayweather showered McGregor in cash money and “The Notorious” addressing recent allegations of racism against him, but possibly the most oddball and out-of-the-blue moment when “Money” had his sizable entourage ‘form Voltron’ around McGregor.

If you don’t know what forming Voltron is (and if you’re used to having the interwebs your whole life, you probably don’t), it was an 80s cartoon show where large robots formed the limbs of a much greater whole to form a super-powerful robot.

Yep, Mayweather did that around Conor McGregor. In 2017. Check it out right here:

After a two-hour wait from its original 6:30 p.m EST start time left fans restless, today’s (Thurs., July 13, 2017) third press conference from Brooklyn could legitimately be considered a letdown compared to the fireworks that broke out at yesterday’s presser in Toronto.

Both fighters weren’t exactly on top of their trash-talking game on the third leg, and perhaps that’s to be expected after two back-to-back events in Los Angeles and Toronto this week. But this is a world tour for the supposed biggest fight of all-time, so there’s little room for error amongst the two biggest personalities in combat sports, and they just didn’t deliver up to their potential after an excruciating wait today.

One of the few bright moments of the presser was when “Money” showered McGregor with a whole bunch of his namesake, to which “The Notorious” responded that the money he was being doused with all one-dollar bills, something that will certainly fuel the fire for his recent suggestion that Mayweather owes a large sum of money.

Floyd Mayweather Offers Heartfelt Apology To Dana White

It’s safe to say that boxing great Floyd Mayweather and UFC President Dana White don’t have the closest friendship, as “Money” has certainly sent some smack White’s way by saying he used to ‘carry his bags’ back when the UFC head man was just hustling to get recognized in the fight game. It’s safe to say that boxing great Floyd Mayweather and UFC President Dana White don’t have the closest friendship, as “Money” has certainly sent some smack White’s way by saying he used to ‘carry his bags’ back when the UFC head man was just hustling to get recognized in the fight game.

But headed into his anticipated August 26th match with White’s new golden boy Conor McGregor, Mayweather apparently doesn’t want to grind that axe any longer. During yesterday’s (Wed., July 12, 2017) press conference in Toronto, an event which McGregor used to throw the kitchen sink of insults at Mayweather and his team, “Money” stayed surprisingly calm to offer a heartfelt apology to White for what he said in the past:

“Dana, I could never disrespect you. I’ve known you for 21 years. You’ve done a hell of a job with this company. And I want to continue to watch you grow, I want you continue to build the UFC, ’cause it’s all about combat sports. No matter what I said about you in the past, as am an I look in your face and apologize, and tell you I’m sorry, but you’ve done a hell of a job with this company.”

After the press conference, Mayweather elaborated on the reason behind his apology, noting that he’s made some mistakes in responding to White’s words in the past, and admitted he’s man enough to own up to them and say he’s sorry. With that established, he affirmed he isn’t angry at anyone via MMA Fighting:

“Dana White used to come over my house every day,” Mayweather said. “I’ve been knowing Dana White 21 years. I’m big enough to apologize to Dana White. I’m a real man, that’s what real men do. I’m man enough to apologize. I’ve said some stuff about Dana. I’m only human. He takes shots at me; I take shots back. I’m only human. I’m not upset with Dana White, I’m not upset with anybody.”

SHOWTIME Sports

That’s a far cry from his words of merely six months ago, when Mayweather compared White’s standing with the UFC under its previous owners and his good friends the Fertitta brothers with the current owners now that the UFC was sold. With WME-IMG now running the show, Mayweather suggested, White was merely another employee, and he compared that to the time when he supposedly used to carry Mayweather’s equipment when “Money” wore his Bullenbeiser clothing company patch on his shorts:

“I don’t want to talk to Dana White,” Mayweather said. “Remember, Dana White, he was a player he was a boss but he was a small boss. The big bosses were the Fertittas. But then the Fertitta’s chose to sell the UFC so Dana is just an employee. Dana White – I like Dana White, I don’t have anything against him – but I can remember Dana White used to hang around me and Jeff Mayweather and carry my bags.

“Dana White, I remember when you used to carry my bags. And remember Dana White, I showed you love. You had the little Bullenbeisser [sponsorship] patch I wore on my trunks for you, Dana. I’ve always been good to you. But then all of the sudden he cut his head bald and he’s such a tough guy. He’s such a tough guy.”

Now that he’s facing the biggest name in MMA, however, Mayweather has somewhat surprisingly changed his tune even though White’s outspoken main attraction continues to rake him over the coals during every second of the world tour. Will the love continue to come from Mayweather amidst the hot venom from “The Notorious” at today’s press conference stop in Brooklyn?
