If his comments prove to be true, Floyd “Money” Mayweather will truly be living up to his nickname.

The undefeated 49-0 boxing legend is set to make his return to the ring later this month (Sat. August 26, 2017) when he welcomes UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor to the professional boxing world. “Money” will be putting his undefeated legacy on the line when he takes on the 155-pound knockout artist, a fight that Mayweather claims he’ll make $300 million for.

TMZ has obtained video from the next Showtime “All Access” special in which Mayweather claims he’ll make $300 million in just 36 minutes (quotes via MMA Fighting):

“I can do it in 36 minutes — 300 or better in 36 minutes,” Mayweather said. “We’re just being real. Like I said before, I’m not hurting. I’m far from hurting. … I got paper. They talking about Mayweather this and Mayweather that, I’m not hurting. I got mine.”

Neither man, McGregor or Mayweather, has confirmed what they will be making for the mega fight, but “The Notorious One” is expected to be making somewhere around $100 million. Mayweather didn’t disclose how much his adversary would be making for the fight, but instead continued to play up his wealth:

“I can’t say what the UFC is paying [McGregor], but every month I make millions,” Mayweather said. “So they talk about it, I be about it. I really got it. Y’all not gonna make this in a lifetime.”

“Before we can speak on Floyd Mayweather and speak on, ‘Oh, Floyd Mayweather, he done this and he done that,’ and what he can and what he can’t do, I mean, am I the highest paid athlete out there?” Mayweather said. “And just coming back.”

Yesterday, boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. continued his trash talk battle with UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor by stating he was willing to go down to eight-ounce gloves for their anticipated boxing fight on August 26 from Les Vegas, Nevada.

“Money” made a post on Instagram that claimed to be ‘helping’ McGregor to gain any advantage he could for the fight with an undefeated all-time great boxing champ, as compared to his professional boxing record which contains no fights:

“Whatever advantage McGregor needs to feel more comfortable in the ring, I’m willing to accommodate. Let’s give the boxing and MMA fans what they want to see,”

A barb disguised as a concession, McGregor quickly saw through his legendary counterpart’s ruse and posted his own response on Instagram that focused on the fact he fights with four-ounce gloves and doesn’t care what they use in the fight:

‘The Notorious’ poked fun at Mayweather’s size as he often has, also adding a jab at this oft-broken hands before proclaiming he would be coming out ‘sprinting with bricks’:

“Another handy 12 rounds today. We are prepared to destroy Floyd.
Pick whatever size gloves you want as well little man. I fight with 4oz. I don’t give a fuck about the size of the glove. I am coming sprinting at you with bricks. Know that. Brittle hands.”

The UFC champ is preparing for the 12-round bout by going that full distance in training, but questions remain about the Irish megastar’s ability to truly hold up that long after he appeared to tire as his two bouts with Nate Diaz drug on. As for the glove size, the contracts have already been signed and it seems like it would be almost impossible to make any changes to the original fight agreement thus far.

The stage is set, the stipulations have been agreed upon regardless of this offer, and the combat sports has 24 days left to wait until the biggest spectacle the fight game has ever seen.

Seemingly every detail for the Aug. 26 fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor has been heavily debated, and the size of their boxing gloves was not immune as a source of contention.

However, Mayweather announced Tuesday that he plans to use eight-ounce gloves for the upcoming bout.

“I’m telling McGregor, ‘Let’s fight in 8 oz gloves,'” he wrote on his Facebook page. “McGregor can fight in any brand he prefers or chooses. I’ll be wearing 8 oz Grant gloves. Whatever advantage McGregor needs to feel more comfortable in the ring, I’m willing to accommodate.”

UFC president Dana White explained back in April that glove weight was one of the sticking points on a potential deal due to the vast difference between boxing and mixed martial arts equipment. As Alan Dawson of Business Insider noted, UFC gloves are usually around four ounces with open fingers, while boxing gloves often range from eight-to-10 ounces.

As Keith Idec of Boxing Scene reported, McGregor believed Mayweather was pushing to use as much as 10-ounce gloves due to the heavier weight class for the bout.

However, during the first press conference, Mayweather said he would be willing to make his opponent more comfortable. “If you want four-ounce gloves, let’s put on 4 ounce gloves,” he said, per Mauro Ranallo of Showtime Boxing.

It appears they have compromised on a deal to use eight-ounce gloves in the highly anticipated bout.

It remains to be seen whether this will make a difference, but the lighter gloves could only help McGregor as he makes the transition from MMA to boxing for the bout.
