Max Holloway is currently on a lengthy winning streak and a top contender in the featherweight division. Holloway is a fighter who is close to a title shot. However, the UFC doesn’t see him as a giant star. Holloway recently posted on Twitter, “PUSSY-ITIS. #maxforgold,” regarding the news that Jose Aldo wants out of his UFC deal following the announcement made by the UFC about current UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor fighting current lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 on November 12th at MSG in New York.

Holloway recently spoke with MMA Fighting and put Aldo on blast.

“The whole thing with Aldo, and everybody thinking he’s the best for 10 years, that he’s unbeaten and the untouchable champ, and all that,” Holloway said. “Then the whole thing with Conor thing came out, and he got knocked out, and everybody getting pissed off why he didn’t get a rematch after 13 seconds. These guys need to educate themselves in damn mixed martial arts. How many times has Aldo pulled out of a main event? Not counting the Conor time, how many times before that has Aldo pulled out of a fight? It’s happened a bunch of times.”

Holloway is not in favor of those who say that Aldo needs a rematch with McGregor. Holloway pointed out the Aldo pulled out of their first fight back at UFC 189 in 2015.

“People keep saying Aldo deserves this, he deserves that — how the hell do you deserve something when you pulled out of all these events?” he said. “And did the UFC ever make an interim title when he did? They held that all the way until they gave the interim title to Conor [at UFC 189], but they did it for a business move, to make for a huge event at UFC 194. People keep forgetting the past, of what Aldo did. How many times did he screw the UFC getting hurt and not fighting in the event and the UFC scrambling around and they’ve got to find new fighters for the event or scratch his fight? People say 13 seconds…who the f*ck wants to see the rematch after 13 seconds? I sure as hell don’t want to see it.”

Holloway understands that he is not a big name as Aldo right now but does think that he needs to get some wins over big name fighters like Frankie Edgar and Chad Mendes.

“I’m not a big name like Aldo,” he said. “I’m not as big as Aldo as it is right now, because Aldo had the opportunity to fight a big name and he took it over, and he made his way to the top. Just like McGregor did. He fought some big names, to make his name. Where the hell is my big name that I can go off of? I fought Cub, I fought this Jeremy guy, everybody telling me they want me to fight Frankie, and I’ve been calling out Frankie. Before Mendes got suspended, I’ve been calling out Chad Mendes. It should have been me and Frankie Edgar at that Ultimate Fighter [22 Finale] instead of Chad. That wasn’t my decision. I was begging for a fight. Shit, me and my team was begging for Frankie Edgar at MSG.

Holloway made it clear that he doesn’t see Aldo defending the interim featherweight title but does hope that he does so he can fight him because he feels that he is the only guy that Aldo can fight aside from McGregor.

“I didn’t think Aldo would even want to defend the [interim] title. But I didn’t want him sitting out. I figured if he wanted a fight, I’d fight him, and the only guy that made sense was me. I turned my whole attention to Aldo because we called out Frankie for this MSG card, and people were telling my team that he was going to 135. So I was like, what the hell? I’ll stop harassing him if he’s going to 35, then I see he’s fighting Jeremy at 45. So f*ck this shit. This sh*t is all wired and hectic.”

Switching gears, Holloway put McGregor on blast for not facing top tier talent in the featherweight division.

“There’s only two guys in our division that Conor beat that’s still ranked, myself and Aldo,” he said. “Who the hell else did he beat? I don’t even know who he beat. I only know the two ranked guys were me and Aldo. I don’t take that away from Conor, that he beat Chad Mendes on short notice. Chad took that fight knowing he had a chance to beat Conor, so that’s Chad’s fault he took that fight. My last four guys I beat have all been ranked.”

As the biggest mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion of all time, the UFC has whipped up some huge fights in its history with some of the baddest men on the planet going head-to-head against one another.

Some fights between two top competitors don’t quite live up to the hype, however, as the bout ends up putting fight fans to sleep rather than keeping them on the edge of their seat for 25 minutes or less.

Then, once in a blue moon, we get a fight that not only lives up to the hype, but exceeds it tremendously. That, my friends, is what we have compiled for you today, the top 10 biggest fights in UFC history that have ended with historic finishes. Let’s begin……

fabricio-werdum-submission10. Cain Velasquez vs. Fabricio Werdum UFC – 188

We kick off our list in the big boys’ division, where two of the most dangerous heavyweights of all time clashed for the biggest prize in MMA.

Coming off of nearly a two-year layoff from the sport, Cain Velasquez would attempt to unify his title with the then-interim heavyweight champ Fabricio Werdum who was on a five-fight win streak.

The opening rounds were a bit back-and-forth and the arena in Mexico City was hot for their native Velasquez, however, the altitude proved to be too much for ‘Cardio Cain’ to handle as he gassed out in the third round.

Velasquez then shot in for a takedown on the Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist and was immediately wrapped up in a nasty guillotine choke. Velasquez had no other choice but to tap out and make Werdum the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

Donald Cerrone: Conor McGregor Turned Down Two Fights With Me

Former UFC lightweight title challenger and fan favorite Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone has had his fair share of verbal battles with outspoken featherweight champion Conor McGregor, but he’s yet to get his chance against the Irishman, who will challenge lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, inside the Octagon. That isn’t because the fight hasn’t been offered, however, at least according to Cerrone.

Recently speaking on the subject, “Cowboy” said that McGregor has turned down two fights with him:

“Someone please just shut this dude up,” Cerrone said of McGregor on the “Norton & Friends” show on Wednesday. “Last night [at the UFC 205 press conference] I was going to get on the horn and start getting after him but I decided not to because you talk about him, people not taking fights, he, two times I had the obligation to fight him and he turned down and took the easier fight.

“When he fought Diaz for the first time, I just fought. So it was Sunday, I was flying home, Dana calls and asked me if I’d like to fight Conor and that was for the Diaz first fight. And, he declined me and took Diaz cause Diaz was in Mexico you know, took the fight on 10 days notice or whatever. But, why would he want to fight me coming off a win? So yeah, my name was in the hat. Conor and his people didn’t pick me.”

It’s for this reason, that Cerrone isn’t a fan of McGregor’s iconic trash talk. He also accused the “Notorious” one of acting different when the cameras are off and away:

“I get annoyed when he wants to talk about he’s the ‘best in the world and I’ll fight anybody’ blah blah blah but when it comes time, like there’s a lot that people don’t know about right. Behind the scenes stuff but I know. I knew he’s like, ‘Yeah, no no no no,’ cause we were trying. And I didn’t even want to negotiate more money. I said, ‘F–k you let’s go. I’ll fight you for whatever.”

“This dude same thing like last night, he’s good at when cameras are on talking sh-t. You get him in the back he don’t say nothing. F–k no, I been in the back many times with him.”

What do you make of Cerrone’s comments?

Wanderlei Silva Wants Jose Aldo To Fight In Japan

Former undisputed and current UFC interim featherweight champion Jose Aldo is having a rough week. Following the announcement of Eddie Alvarez vs. Conor McGregor at UFC 205, ‘Scarface’ came out of the blue with retirement talk. Blasting UFC president Dana White for being ‘McGregor’s puppet,’ Aldo said he no longer wants to fight anymore. Asking for his release from the contract he’s signed to with the UFC, the Brazilian has also indicated he’d be willing to fight the UFC in court.

Sounding similar? Another Brazilian icon of MMA in Wanderlei Silva, although for different reasons, has also walked this path. After some controversy with NSAC drug testers in 2014. Silva was lumped with a lifetime ban, but following negotiations it was reduced to three years. Still eligible to fight in Japan, ‘The Axe Murderer’ was scooped up by former Pride FC Sakakibara’s Rizin Fighting Federation.

Wand Reaches Out To Aldo

Seeing his countryman’s furious reaction to once again losing out on a rematch with Conor McGregor, Wanderlei Silva has reached out to Jose Aldo. Thanks to Reddit user ‘TrulySkeptical’ for the translation, here’s what Wandy posted to his Facebook page:

It saddens me to see someone so young and with so much potential like Aldo having his will to fight being thrown away. Aldo, I am here to tell you that I am with you. I always respected your attitude as a fighter and your team.

I want to tell you that, as someone who represents Rizin, the doors are open. I want to invite you to fight in Japan, where you’ll be respected and be put in your place. Me, as a Rizin ambassador here in Brazil, want to invite you to come with me to Japan and make history there. There you’ll have the respect you deserve, my champion.

In this promotion, the same you want to leave from, they took my will to fight, I know what you are going through, but there in Japan I am being treated as a samurai, as a champion that I am, and having the respect that I deserve, and the respect that you also deserve.

Aldo, come with me to fight in Japan. Rizin has open doors for you. As a Rizin ambassador I am inviting you. Come, because you’ll be well treated, as you deserve, my champion. God bless you, today and always, “we are always Aldo”, the best of all time.

Jose Aldo

Will Aldo Go East?

Although knocked out by Conor McGregor at UFC 194, Jose Aldo returned in great form at UFC 200. Defeating Frankie Edgar in a tough war, ‘Scarface’ showed he certainly still has the fire. It’ll be interesting to see if he does take Wanderlei Silva up on his offer.

Donald Cerrone Trashes Khabib and Conor, Says Neither Want To Fight Him

So, much in the fashion of the current UFC and MMA landscape, talking seems to be the best way to bring in the dollars. While many want to denounce Conor McGregor for his tactics, the reality is that he’s been able to get paid a considerable amount of money based on his fighting skills as well as his equally impressive skills on the microphone. As such, more and more fighters are speaking out letting the masses know exactly what’s on their minds. Now granted these fighters have always remained true to themselves, but racking up a pile of cash like McGregor isn’t easy and it requires fighters to turn themselves into a brand.

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone was always a fighter who spoke his mind, unafraid of the backlash he’d receive from fighters because, well, if they had a problem they can actually solve it with their fists. To say Cowboy hasn’t spoken his mind before Conor McGregor entered the scene would be a grossly idiotic and uninformed stance to take. But never before has Cowboy singled his opponents unless he signed a bout agreement. As time passes and his star has grown, Cowboy has become a man who tells it like it is and isn’t afraid to let everyone know exactly what he’s thinking.

In a recent interview on the radio show Jim Norton & Friends, Cowboy went in depth about how he feels about a number of fighters in the game, namely Khabib Nurmagomedov and one Conor McGregor. According to Cowboy Cerrone, these two men have been running scared and have no intentions of meeting him in the cage. Take a listen.

How do you think Cowboy would do in a fight against Khabib or Conor?

Conor McGregor made it clear that he loves New York during yesterday’s UFC 205 press conference from Madison Square Garden, but he may be enjoying it a bit TOO much heading into his lightweight title fight against Eddie Alvarez in the main event of the UFC’s New York debut on November 12.

That is, if the burning cigarette he’s holding in this photo of him partying in NYC last night is actually a joint. McGregor posted the following photo on Instagram earlier today, and from the look of things, he”s living it up in a big way. The truth of the matter remains unknown, but it’s going to be something that USADA most certainly takes note of nonetheless.

In the meantime, check out the photo and decide for yourself:
