Just throw it on the pile of talents and career options for the Irish MMA champion. There is no shortage of these options. He doesn’t need this options, he just has them. The success is almost overwhelming.

As McGregor heads into Saturday’s boxing match with Floyd Mayweather, it seems he is already towering over a second sport as well.

While holding court with a lucky band of reporters recently, per a Saturday report from Alexander Lee of MMA Fighting, McGregor offered free advice to some of the sport’s top stars. And if we know anything about McGregor, we know how wise they would be to heed that advice.

First up in the free workshop—none of these other boxers were there, by the way—was Canelo Alvarez, current Ring magazine middleweight champion. Also in his sights was Gennady Golovkin, the fearsome knockout artist who happens to be facing Alvarez in September.

“Who else is in today’s game? Canelo and Golovkin,” McGregor said. “I’m not really too much of a fan of either of those. I think Canelo’s a little bit stuck, a little bit flat on his feet. When I watch footage of him, I see him just getting peppered, he has no feet under him.

“Golovkin I think came to camp for this preparation badly out of shape. I’m looking at him badly out of shape up in Big Bear [California] and I just see a drained individual.”

Perhaps the fighter who came out the worst in McGregor‘s breakdown was Manny Pacquiao, the past-his-prime Filipino who just lost an upset bout to virtual unknown Jeff Horn.

“Pacquiao wouldn’t be a bad [matchup] because he has a name,” McGregor said. “Look what happened to him in that last fight. He got mauled. He got absolutely mauled in that fight. People were crying ‘big robbery,’ I didn’t see no robbery in that fight. I saw a man that just got mauled in a fight.”

Sorry, guys. Looks like none of you will be enjoying a red undergarment night anytime soon.

“None of those names interest me at this present time,” McGregor said. “Like I said, I’m facing the god of boxing at the moment. [Mayweather] is supposedly the God of boxing and he could have stayed the God, he could have rode off 49-0. Instead, now I am here, and now I am the God of boxing.”

Any questions? I didn‘t think so.

By the way, was there anyone who gained McGregor‘s favor during the course of this discussion? Rejoice, Vasyl Lomachenko, Guillermo Rigondeaux and Gervonta Davis. You made the cut.

Conor McGregor could be setting up his next boxing match after his program with Floyd Mayweather is concluded.

The UFC lightweight champion is set to make his professional boxing debut against, arguably, the greatest of all time in undefeated 49-0 Floyd Mayweather in just two weeks (Sat. August 26, 2017). While Mayweather vs. McGregor has been getting most of the love as it pertains to promotion, another massive boxing contest is just over the horizon as well.

WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, and IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin is set to defend his titles against boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez in a boxing purist’s dream fight from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 16, 2017. If McGregor is able to shock the world and pull off a victory against Mayweather, many have begun to ponder the possibility of the Irishman continuing his boxing career against the winner of Golovkin and Alvarez.

McGregor recently spoke to media ahead of his open workout last week and commented on the Canelo vs. GGG bout, taking a few shots at the pair of middleweights (quotes via MMA Mania):

“I’m not really too much of a fan of either of those,” McGregor said. “I think Canelo’s a little but stuck, a little bit flat on his feet. When I watch footage of him I just see him getting peppered — he has no feet under him.”

“Golovkin I think came into camp, for this preparation, badly out of shape. I’m looking at him badly out of shape up in Big Bear and I just see a drained individual,” he said. “So, although they’re supposedly up there as well, I don’t really think they are.”

Oscar De La Hoya Says Mayweather vs. McGregor Scheduling Is ‘Disrespectful’

Oscar De La Hoya is unhappy with the date chosen for Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s fight with Conor McGregor, as he says the Aug. 26 matchup clashes with Gennady Golovkin’s bout with Saul “Canelo” Alvarez on Sept. 16 in Las Vegas.

In an appearance on ESPN’s SportsCenter (via MMA Fighting), the promoter took a swipe at Dana White and the UFC for scheduling the clash just three weeks before the middleweight title fight.

“It was disrespectful,” said De La Hoya. “I would have thought that Dana White would have a little more respect with this boxing event taking place, because look, you just don’t do that. I mean, it’s like having the Super Bowl and then three weeks later the World Series takes place, the final game. It just doesn’t happen.”

Here is the video of the legend’s comments (via Pop and Sports HQ):

De La Hoya said the UFC could have arranged the superstar fight in November or December.

Alvarez, meanwhile, said he is not interested in watching the action as McGregor’s lack of boxing experience will result in an easy win for Mayweather.

Not everyone is a fan of the boxing match between UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor and undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Add boxing superstars Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin to that list. Alvarez and Golovkin are approaching a mega-fight of their own as the two fighters , who are considered amongst the pound-for-pound best boxers in the world, are set to meet in a colossal main event from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sat. September 16, 2017. That’s just one month removed from the bout between McGregor and Mayweather.

Alvarez and Golovkin both recently made appearances on The Luke Thomas Show to give their respective takes on the bout between “The Notorious One” and “Money.” Both men showed a lack of support for the bout, to say the least.

Golovkin was first up to voice his opinion, claiming that McGregor vs. Mayweather isn’t a real fight but that instead his bout against Canelo is (quotes via Bloody Elbow):

“This is not a fight. My fight with Canelo is a fight. This is show. Conor with Floyd is show — business show or a funny show, or for somebody’s interest show, not for us.

“It’s not for boxing. This is not for boxing. This is for people, for business. My fight with Canelo, this is boxing. This is true fight.

“You know, I respect McGregor [as] a UFC fighter, [but] he’s not a boxer. He’s a good fighter, he’s not a boxer.”

Alvarez had little to say on the matter, except for his claim that the real fans will be tuning in for the real fight come the next few months:

“I’ve been asked that throughout the day in many interviews. I really don’t have a comment about that fight, but I will say this- I think that the fans will speak, they’ll know what to do. They’ll know the difference between a sideshow and a real fight, and they’ll decide what they want to do.”

Earlier today (Sat. May 6, 2017) Canelo Alvarez downed Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in Las Vegas in what was dubbed as a Mexican Civil War inside the squared circle.

Through 12 rounds of boxing Alvarez completely out-classed his native adversary, taking home a lopsided unanimous decision win. It marked the Mexican star’s seventh consecutive win since being defeated by Floyd Mayweather Jr. back in 2013.

Throughout the bout Chavez seemed reluctant to engage and found it difficult to get into a solid rhythm. Alvarez laid back against the ropes multiple times in hopes of getting Chavez to engage, but continued to bludgeon Chavez with his superior accuracy.

Following the contest it was announced that Alvarez would challenge WBA, WBC, IBF, and IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin next, finally answering the prayers of all hardcore boxing fans. The Kazakhstani is currently undefeated in his boxing career having amassed a record of 37-0.

The pair will throw down on September 16th of this year, with no further information being given.

We’ll keep you updated as we learn more…..
