Jessica Andrade will give strawweight a go, taking on one-time title contender Jessica Penne at UFC 199 this summer. The Los Angeles Daily News first reported the contest.

Andrade (13-5) has gone 4-3 as a bantamweight in the UFC, including three straight wins at one point. She is just 1-2, though, over her last three, with both defeats coming via submission.

Penne (12-4) is a former Invicta FC champion who advanced to the semifinals of The Ultimate Fighter before falling to eventual champion Carla Esparza. She also suffered a loss to current UFC champion Joanna Jedrzeczyk for the title.

UFC 199 includes Luke Rockhold defending his middleweight title vs. Chris Weidman and Urijah Faber challenging Dominick Cruz for the bantamweight strap.

Fight Night 69 Highlights/Results: Jedrzejczyk Batters Penne, Kawajiri Smothers Siver, “Mr. Finland” Shines Again + More

(Joanna Champion: The simultaneously most adorable and terrifying woman on the planet, next to Alice from Workaholics.)

Jessica Penne is tough as nails, y’all. Unfortunately for her, Joanna Jedrzejczyk has a bowl of nails for breakfast every morning…without any milk. To describe the women’s strawweight champion as “on point” in her main event scrap over the weekend would be borderline disrespectful — Joanna Champy was Chuck Liddell-esque in her tactical destruction of Penne (Joe), putting the TUF 20 alum’s face through the meat grinder over the course of a third round TKO victory.

While it was evident that Penne was outclassed on the feet from the start and unable to get the fight to the mat thereafter, a credit is due to her for taking everything Jedrzejczyk had to offer and not once backing down. We are often quick to praise a fighter’s heart in scenario’s like the one Penne found herself in, but very rarely do we see someone taking a lickin’ and keep on tickin’ like that. It’s not the highest praise, I know, but Penne will be a staple of this division for a while and have plenty more chances to improve and impress.

In the night’s co-main event, my boy Dennis Siver (aka Denny Seeves) was outmuscled by PRIDE vet Tatsuya Kawajiri en route to a unanimous decision loss, marking his 3rd loss in his past 5 fights overall. Despite some success fending off Kawajiri’s grappling-based attacks in the first round, Siver was simply a step behind “Crusher’s” takedown game in the second and third stanzas. It wasn’t a dominant win for Kawajiri by any means, but enough to earn him his second UFC win in 3 outings.

Elsewhere on the card, Makwan “Mr. Finland” Amirkhani continued his dynamic UFC run, submitting Masio Fullen in less than two minutes and dedicating the performance to his mother in an incredibly touching post-fight interview. There’s no denying that the UFC has found an entertaining, charismatic, and perhaps most importantly, talented guy in Amirkhani, so let’s hope they build him up properly.

Since the UFC hasn’t actually made any highlights from Fight Night 69 available online, we’ve had to resort to other means. But at the risk of compromising our journalistic integrity (LOL!), we’ll keep things brief and this article up by paying tribute to the excellent finishing sequence from the Scott Askham vs. Antônio dos Santos undercard fight. Dat uppercut tho…

Watch Carla Esparza Choke Out Rose Namajunas (Legit, Legal Video)

The UFC crowned its first women’s strawweight champion last night. Carla Esparza and Rose Namajunas tore through the cast of The Ultimate Fighter season 20 and met one another in the finals.

Namajunas had a great showing in the first round, but in the second and third, Esparza’s wrestling and power became too much for Namajunas to handle. She took Namajunas down at will and controlled her easily, eventually taking her back in the third round and securing a rear naked choke.

The card’s co-main event featured Jeremy Stephens and Charles Oliveira. The contest was one-sided, with Oliveira taking Stephens down repeatedly and nearly locking in arm-bar after arm-bar. To Stephens’ credit, he managed to escape every one — even the harrowing arm-bar attempts where his arm was completely extended. However, he barely landed any significant offense throughout the fight. Oliveira just smothered him too much with constant pressure in the wrestling department as well as unending submission attempts. The judges awarded Oliveira with a unanimous decision win.

Here are the complete results from the TUF 20 Finale:

Main Card

Carla Esparza def. Rose Namajunas via submission (rear naked choke) 1:26 of round 3
Charles Oliveira def. Jeremy Stephens via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28).
KJ Noons and Darron Cruickshank ends in a no contest via accidental eye poke, 0:25 of round 2.
Yancy Medeiros def. Joe Proctor via submission (guillotine), 4:37 of round 1.
Jessica Penne def. Randa Markos via split decision (28-29, 30-27, 29-28)

Preliminary Card

Felice Herrig def. Lisa Ellis via submission (arm-bar), 1:53 of round 2.
Heather Jo Clark def. Bec Rawlings via split decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).
Joanne Calderwood def. Seo Hee Ham via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26).
Tecia Torres def. Angela Magana via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26)
Aisling Daly def. Alex Chambers via submission (arm bar), 4:53 of round 1.
Angela Hill def. Emily Kagan via unanimous decisio (30-27, 30-26, 30-27)

VIDEO: Jessica Penne Chokes Out Lisa Ellis on TUF 20, Episode 3

(Props: TheUltimateFighterFX)

On last night’s episode of The Ultimate Fighter, #13-ranked Team Melendez strawweight Lisa Ellis had the chance to avenge her Invicta FC 1 TKO loss to #4-ranked Team Pettis fighter Jessica Penne. It didn’t go so well. This time, Penne only needed a single round to lock in a rear-naked choke and secure the tap from Ellis. Video of the full fight is above.

The victory gives Team Pettis a 3-0 lead over Team Melendez going into next week’s rankings-mismatch of Carla Esparza (#1, Team Pettis) vs. Angela Hill (#16, Team Melendez). Also, remember that tease-scene of Bec Rawlings crying in episode 1? Well:

The episode begins on a somber note. Dana White comes into the locker room looking for Bec Rawlings. He takes her into a side room and gives the bad news. After a long bout with Parkinson’s disease, her stepfather passed away. Bec knew that there was a chance of this happening when she left Australia, but the news still hits her hard. Her stepfather was a big fan of her career and she laments that, “I was hoping he could hold on a little longer so he could see my UFC debut.”

Dang. Our condolences, Bec.
