Jon Jones second failed USADA test was certainly a massive hit to his career, but to hear his manager tell it, he could be back this year as long as USADA is “a respectable organization.”

Jones’ manager Malki Kawa revealed this most recent update on The Luke Thomas show (via MMA Mania):

“By the end of this month I think we get some clarity on the issues. We have a hearing with the California State Athletic Commission and we’re hoping to get the investigation with USADA wrapped up by then, as well.”

“Hopefully it all works out that way. I got to assume that by the end of March, for a fact, we will get this resolved and get an idea of what it’s looking like. I’d like to say about a 95-percent chance (he fights in 2018).”

Jones had recaptured the light heavyweight belt with a stunning third-round knockout of longtime foe Daniel Cormier at July 2017’s UFC 214, but once again was stripped of his title after failing an in-competition test again.

But despite all of Jones repeated issues, Kawa claims Jones never used Turinabol and that USADA will find he did not willingly take any PED:

“If USADA is a respectable organization, which I think that they are, and they take all the information they compiled, all the interviews that they’ve done and all the things they’ve seen, they know for a fact that Jon Jones was not cheating and he was not intentionally taking any kind of substance. I think they know that and everybody can come to that conclusion based on the circumstances of his situation. That’s the most I am going to say at this point because it is obviously on-going.”

Jones has been relatively silent about the matter until Kawa’s most recent update regarding the adjudication of his USADA case. Jones’ other infractions include positive tests for cocaine metabolites and estrogen blockers, making his most recent failed test simply another on a growing list of issues outside of the cage.

Meanwhile, Cormier was reinstated as champion and defended the title against Volkan Oezdemir at UFC 220, leading to him getting a super fight with heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic at July’s UFC 226.

Do you expect to see Jones fighting again anytime soon?

UFC president Dana White is well known for his bombastic temperament.

He’s always said exactly what’s on his mind, and whether it’s about a fighters’ performance, referees, or business partners, no one is safe from his wrath.

While most fighters under the UFC banner do their best to appease their mercurial boss, many others have found themselves on the wrong side of Dana White.

Take a look at 10 former and current UFC fighters who ended up on White’s “s*% list”:

10. Jason High

One thing White hasn’t tolerated is fighters hitting or otherwise assaulting a referee. Well, he did it when Conor McGregor stormed the Bellator cage and shoved a ref, he did it with Big Country when he kicked “Big” John, but Jason High doesn’t carry the same cache as those men.

So when High expressed his frustration due to what he perceived to be an early stoppage in a TKO loss to Rafael Dos Anjos in 2014, White didn’t hesitate to lambaste him before cutting him from the promotion entirely (his second time being let go from the UFC). Adding to High’s frustration was the fact that he was hit with some illegal strikes throughout the contest.

But after two failed stints in the UFC, albeit by way of top-tier competition, coupled with the lapse in judgment in shoving a referee was more than enough to warrant his release from the promotion.

“I heard – I didn’t even see it – that he put his hands on a referee. Done,” Dana White said of High’s indiscretion. “You touched a referee. Done. Over. That’s worse than what (Paul) Daley did to (Josh) Koscheck.”

Jon Jones found himself the centre of attention again this week, but for all the wrong reasons. During what was meant to be a busy fight week for the interim and former undisputed light-heavyweight champion turned out to be nightmare of epic proportions. A failed drug test dating back to June 16 of this year was announced on Wednesday (July 6, 2016), right in the middle of the promotion’s busiest period ever. With three events yet to unfold at that stage, and Jones set to be taking part in the main event of the historic UFC 200 event tonight, all hell predictably broke loose.

‘Bones’ was removed from the main attraction rematch with current champion Daniel Cormier, leaving the UFC and ‘DC’ in a pickle with only 72 hours to find a replacement. Eventually former middleweight champ Anderson Silva stepped up to the plate, but the struggles and consequences for ‘Bones’ in this latest debacle have only just begun. The USADA (United States Anti Doping Agency) B sample analysis also came back positive, and UFC president Dana White previously hinted at two banned substances on the flagged screen.

An emotional statement from Jones this past Thursday afternoon was the first step for the troubled champion in attempting to resolve this daunting situation. He claimed that he had never intentionally taken the substances detected in the failed test, citing tainted supplements as the reason for getting popped. Dana White, needless to say, is furious with Jon Jones. He appeared on ‘The Herd’ to let out his frustrations on the late UFC 200 shuffle caused by Jones’ failed test.

“How many chances can you give this guy? How many breaks can you cut him? I still haven’t talked to Jon Jones, I haven’t and I’m not gonna. I’m not talking to Jon Jones, there’s no reasons for us to talk. I believe that he took a supplement and it had this stuff in it, I truly believe that, but at the same time; COME ON. You’re 28 years old, you’re probably the greatest talent to ever step foot in this sport. Call USADA and tell them what supplements you are taking. You already have this history of absolute madness, forget doing this to us, why would you do this to yourself?”

In the words of Nate Diaz, I’m not surprised (MF) by Dana White’s irate reaction.
