Jose Aldo Jr and Floyd Mayweather Jr have reportedly agreed to a boxing match at some point in the future. The former UFC champion has added his name to the long list of people who are apparently going to box against Mayweather in an exhibition bout.
Earlier this year, Jose Aldo retired from MMA and got a Hall of Fame spot for his lifelong career of greatness. Just last night, he made his professional debut in boxing with a unanimous decision victory over 0-3 Emmanuel Zambrano. Aldo is already booked for his next match against his former UFC opponent Jeremy Stephens. This fight is booked for Gamebred Boxing 4 on April 1.
After his professional boxing debut victory, Brazil’s Aldo spoke with MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz to discuss the Floyd Mayweather bout. Officially, this may be an exhibition, but not for the Brazilian. Jose Aldo explained:
“His side has already agreed, my side too. We’re now waiting for [the promoters] to get the deal done … It might be exhibition on [Mayweather’s] side, but not for me. It’s a punch to the face like always. He knows that.”
Floyd Mayweather keeping busy in retirement

Since then, the US-born athlete has taken exhibition bouts against Deji Olatunji, Mikuru Asakura, Don Moore, Logan Paul, and Tenshin Nasukawa. Upcoming he is already booked against Aaron Chalmers.

Hall of Fame career Jose Aldo
Brazil’s Jose Aldo is an all-time great in MMA. The 36-year-old fighter was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame just earlier this month at UFC 283 in Rio de Janeiro.
Aldo was merely 21 years old when he made his debut in the WEC. The Brazilian Muay Thai striker would earn five consecutive TKO wins and then a shot at the WEC featherweight title. He then stopped reigning champion Mike Thomas Brown (Current American Top Team coach) via TKO in round 2.
After Aldo battered Uriah Faber for five rounds, the UFC would absorb the lighter-weight division into their organization. He would then have an unbeaten streak having defended his world title in eight consecutive bouts. In a blockbuster event, he lost his throne to Conor McGregor.
Later on, he would recapture UFC featherweight gold, and then eventually fight for a UFC bantamweight championship. Jose Aldo spent his 14-year-long career either as a champion or ranked in the top five.

Previously describing once-bitter foe, Jose Aldo as a “real legend” in the sport of mixed martial arts, former two-weight champion, Conor McGregor has showered the Brazilian in praise following his induction into the UFC Hall of Fame in his native Brazil over the weekend. McGregor, who played tormentor for Manaus fan-favorite, Aldo throughout both 2014 and eventually, 2015 ahead of a featherweight title unification clash, managed to turn in the fastest knockout in UFC championship fight history, finishing Aldo with a stunning 13-second KO at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Bringing the curtain down on their infamous rivalry, despite talk of a potential rematch in the time since, Conor McGregor recently heaped praise on Aldo’s 2021 win over compatriot, Pedro Munhoz, labelling the inaugural UFC featherweight champion as a “real legend”.
Over the course of last week during the UFC 283 event at the Jeunesse Arena, the organization confirmed Aldo would be the first inductee at this summer’s Hall of Fame ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada – leading to an emotional outpour from the former champion.
Conor McGregor praises Jose Aldo his UFC Hall of Fame induction
Heralded for a spectacular, gold-laden career, which he called time on back in September of last year, Aldo’s induction into the promotion’s Hall of Fame was “earned” according to the Dubliner, McGregor.
Recalling a rather funny prank Conor McGregor played on him following his interim featherweight title rematch win over Frankie Edgar at UFC 200, Aldo revealed the 34-year-old hung a pair of red panties on the door handle of his hotel room.
“It was a bit of light-hearted fun,” Jose Aldo said of the prank. “I think we were in the Red Rock which is owned by Lorenzo (Fertitta) in Las Vegas. We were window-to-window and it was the night that I beat Frankie Edgar, he just sent it out as a light-hearted joke. I didn’t do anything with it but maybe I could get my wife to wear it or something.”
