KSI FaZe Temperrr Boxing

YouTuber and rap star, KSI, real name, Olajide Olatunji continues in his rich vein of form in consecutive exhibition boxing matches, tonight taking out short-notice opponent, FaZe Temperrr, otherwise known as Thomas Oliveira with a first round TKO victory in the main event of Misfits & DAZN X Series 4.

KSI, a popular YouTuber, social media star and rapper in the United Kingdom, previously headlined a Misfits Boxing event against both Brandon Scott, and Luis Alcaraz Pineda in the same night back in August of last year, scoring back-to-back knockout victories.

The 29-year-old returned to the squared circle tonight against the aforenoted, FaZe Temperrr, stopping the professional gamer with a straight hand to left hook combination — resulting in a knockdown within the opening two minutes of the first round.

KSI was iniaily scheduled to headline tonight’s card in London against Bellator MMA welterweight grappler, Dillon Danis, however, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace was removed from his would-be boxing debut after fight promoters raised their concerns that the New Jersey native was unprepared for the fight.

KSI holds a single professional win in boxing, defeating Logan Paul — the elder brother of the 6-0 puncher, Jake Paul back in November 2019 in California.

As we all know by now, former teammate of Conor McGregor, Dillon Danis has withdrawn from his upcoming boxing bout with KSI, which was set to go down on January 14, 2023, live from the OVO Arena Wembley in London, England.

This was to be the BJJ black belt’s first fight outside of an MMA cage, under a new rule set, prior to him pulling out on January 4, ten days before the fight was expected to take place.

KSI has since found a new opponent in Faze Temperrr, who’s 1-1 as a professional and 1-0 as an amateur, while KSI is 3-0 as a professional and 1-0-1 as an amateur. This should be an interesting match up, as Temperrr is 6’4” with a reach of 77”, while KSI is 6′ with a reach of 76”, both parties coming off knockout victories going into this bout next weekend.

Danis has been no stranger to upsetting the MMA community, and he continues to do so with the withdraw of this bout after making a true ass of himself on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Hour leading up, stating, ‘that’s the stupidest thing ever’ when told people are expecting him to pull out.

Danis also decided to no show the pre-fight press conference leading up, causing reason for suspicion.

Current no. 1 ranked UFC bantamweight contender Sean O’Malley had the following to say in regards to this match up cancellation:

“Oh yeah Dillon Danis pulled out (of his) fight against KSI. Did you hear why? He couldn’t find a coach or a team to like, work with him. He’s underprepared and he is having trouble making weight. That’s what they said. So I wonder if he even had intentions on fighting.

“But yeah KSI is fighting Faze Temperrr now.”

O’Malley continued: “I’m curious if people are going to take fights with him. Like, no one known will. He’ll be able to fight some more bums probably.”

Danis hasn’t done too well in BJJ competition since being awarded his black belt, as he’s 1-6 in his last seven, and 2-7 in his last nine in grappling. Not to mention, he hasn’t fought in MMA since 2019, he doesn’t have sponsors, he doesn’t coach BJJ. How does he get by? It’s a noteworthy question.

It appears all Dillon Danis has left is Bellator. Will we ever see him fight again?

Michael Bisping had the opportunity to throw YouTuber-turned-professional boxer KSI around the gym in footage released by ESPN MMA on YouTube.

KSI, whose real name is Olajide Olayinka Williams, will make his return to the boxing ring when he takes on controversial combat sports figure Dillon Danis as part of the MF & DAZN: X Series 004 event on January 14th. Ahead of his return to the boxing ring, ESPN shared a video clip of KSI getting ragdolled by Michael Bisping. The two were brought together in 2018 to film promotional footage for the release of the EA Sports UFC 3 video game in 2018.

No Love Lost Between Michael Bisping and Dillon Danis

At the time, Bisping was only months removed from his final bout in the UFC. Since then, ‘The Count’ has stayed active in the sport, regularly working as a color analyst on UFC broadcasts and discussing all things MMA alongside Anthony Smith on his ‘Believe You Me’ podcast. Recently, Bisping found himself entwined in the rivalry between Dillon Danis and KSI when the former reached out to ‘The Count’ for his prediction.

“Hey Bisping, who you got winning,” Danis asked in a now-deleted Tweet. “Me or your hometown guy KSI?”

“Tough call,” Bisping said in response. “I mean, you’re known for having devastating boxing skills, right. I fear KSI may have messed up here.”

Of course, Michael Bisping’s response came with a healthy dose of sarcasm which was clearly recognized by Danis, prompting him to delete his initial tweet. As evidenced in the Twitter exchange below, there is no love lost between Danis and ‘The Count’ who often find themselves trading barbs on social media.

Conor McGregor ‘doesn’t care’ about ‘genre’ of influencer boxing, upsets the Paul brothers

Former UFC champion Conor McGregor ‘doesn’t care’ as influencer boxers reign down insults.

Celebrity boxing and exhibitions have been around for decades, but the bizarre world of influencer boxing continues to grow into something that combat sports has never seen before. It relentlessly seeps into the mainstream of boxing and MMA, even luring stars from professional backgrounds to compete in their events, as they further attempt to legitimize their standing in the space.

It was announced last month that KSI, one of the leading figures in influencer boxing, would take on Dillon Danis on January 14.

Danis, a former BJJ world champion and 2-0 pro-MMA fighter, rose to prominence as a friend and training partner of Conor McGregor. KSI has, of course, used this relationship to attach McGregor to the fight, taunting the Irishman on Twitter, and evoking a response.

Brother you’re a friendly little nerd I don’t care. He should be back doing mma if he is doing this little nothing burger match with you. I couldn’t care less about this genre of boxing, I am sorry. Have a good one.‘- Conor McGregor

Of course, both Paul brothers would jump at this opportunity, both using the time to boast of their fighting prowess.

‘“Genre of boxing” ?? Boxing is boxing. I’m a YouTuber & I still did more damage to Floyd than you’– Paul

‘You fight for belts? Last time you fought for a belt was 4 years ago. Lost 3 of your last 4 fights. I would knock you out in the squared circle with one hand tied behind my back. To be fair, in the cage I would need two hands. But same result.’- Paul

Are you like Conor McGregor or do you care about influencer boxing?

The MMA fighter Dillon Danis wanted to have a boxing match against YouTuber KSI but is still under contract with Bellator. Bellator promotes under Showtime while KSI promotes under DAZN. Danis planning to box against KSI on DAZN, Showtime didn’t like this. Because of that, Danis had to pay Bellator for the rights to do so.

Dillon Danis had to pay Scott Coker

In an interview on The MMA Hour, Danis explained the situation to Ariel Helwani. He said:

“I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about how I had to do that, because Showtime and DAZN are rivals, so I had to pay a hefty fee. It’s a lot of money. What I’m paying Coker to let me fight is more than probably every UFC [fighter makes]. I’m still with them. It would be different if I was with Showtime, because Showtime, they have a deal with them.”

Danis went on to explain that Bellator President Scott Coker was likely mad that his comeback fight was not in Bellator. He said:

“He wants me to come back to MMA, his star. Obviously, there’s no one in Bellator that’s going to bring that kind of noise. Who brings that much hype? I just think that he’s mad The big comeback should’ve been in MMA, which I agree, but why not just beat up a YouTuber for a f****** ton of money?” [Transcript courtesy of MMA Fighting]

KSI and Dillon Danis are booked for a match for January 14 on MF & DAZN: X Series 004. This boxing match is booked for Wembley Arena, which has a 12,500 person capacity. Wembley Arena has also hosted The Masked Singer and multiple Bellator events.

Gordon Ryan sarcastically offered Dillon Danis a job during the UFC Fight Pass Invitational 3 press conference.

Grappling kingpin, Gordon Ryan emerged victorious during his Fight Pass Invitational grappling matchup against Nick Rodriguez. Ryan was able to secure his victory via the fastest escape and following this spoke to the combat sports media.

Specifically, Ryan was asked about former rival Dillon Danis with the ‘MMA fighter’ scheduled to face internet sensation KSI in a boxing match taking place in 2023. This is what Ryan had to say about his previous opponent.

“He’s a master at staying relevant without actually doing anything, it’s incredible,” Gordon Ryan said. “I’ve offered him like 10-to-1 odds, I’ve offered him to compete against Luke for 2-to-1 odds, I’ve offered him every kind of match and he’ll post the 2017 ADCC match every now and then and be like, ‘See, I beat the best guy in the world.”

“Hopefully he’s getting paid. He actually randomly messages me on Instagram all the time at like 2am, he’s gotta be like drunk or whatever. He sent like a clip the other day of Chael Sonnen [saying] ‘Dillon Danis is the real deal, he went toe-to-toe with Gordon in 2017 and Gordon won the world championships’ — like out of nowhere, completely unsolicited.”

Danis has not competed inside an octagon since 2019 when he defeated fellow novice Max Humphrey via armbar in the first round. Now it seems a return to the octagon has become even more unlikely with his recently announced boxing affair.

Gordon Ryan Offers Dillon Danis A Job Washing His Cars

Danis has not competed in any facet of combat sports for quite some time and therefore it is understandable why Gordon Ryan perceived his boxing matchup with KSI as having been scheduled for him to earn a payday. However, should Danis fall on hard times Ryan has kindly offered him the opportunity to work under him washing his cars.

“I’m like, ‘Great Dillon, I hope you’re getting paid for this.’ He’s like, ‘I run the game kid, don’t forget this.’ I’m like okay, if it doesn’t work out and you don’t make that much money, I have tons of cars you can clean those for me,” Gordon continued. “I have like five cars to clean and if you want to clean those I’ll give you thirty bucks a week or something for those. And he never responded. Hopefully he’s making a lot of money. Hopefully he doesn’t end up homeless. He manages to stay relevant but it’s hard to stay relevant when you don’t compete.” (Transcribed by MMAMania)
