UFC featherweight Lerone Murphy has been left hospitalized following a high-speed collision with a car while out cycling.

Murphy boasts an unbeaten 11-0-1 professional record in MMA, which includes four Octagon triumphs. In his latest outing, the Englishman recorded a memorable knockout after connecting his knee to the head of Makwan Amirkhani at UFC 267.

But it seems that fans may not be seeing Murphy returning to the Octagon anytime soon. Earlier today, the 30-year-old detailed an accident that nearly left him bleeding out.

In an Instagram post, the Englishman posted an image of himself heavily bandaged in hospital, with a caption that explained how a car had pulled out and hit him at high speed while he was on a bicycle.

After a lengthy wait for medical attention, Murphy said a deep head wound caused by the accident led him fearing for his life.

“Ffs I can’t catch a break. Another near death experience ??. Yesterday while cycling, a oncoming car turned right without looking and we collided at speed. Which caused a nasty head wound ?The ambulance took 45minutes to arrive which nearly caused me to bleed out. Im here still breathing for a greater purpose clearly ???

This is not the first time Murphy has gone through a near-death experience. In May 2013, the Manchester native, then 21 years old, was shot by a gunman. After exiting a barber shop in his home city, the Brit was struck by three bullets, one in the face and two in the neck.

As a result of the attack, Murphy was forced to get prosthetic teeth and still has a small part of a bullet in his tongue.

Having survived that and now a nasty collision on the road, it’s safe to say that Murphy’s moniker, “The Miracle,” is beginning to fit his good fortune.

Lerone Murphy is excited to make his U.S. debut when he takes on Nate Landwher in Ohio on March 26 but is understandably disappointed not to be fighting at UFC London which will take place one week prior.

During a recent interview with LowKickMMA, Murphy spoke about the mixed emotions he is feeling ahead of his American debut which will go down on the undercard of Jan Blachowicz vs. Aleksandar Rakic in a couple of months’ time.

“That was the UFC’s decision really,” Murphy said about fighting in the U.S. one week after UFC London. “It’s mixed emotions for me. U.S debut in front of a crowd. It’s big. It’s massive. It’ll be good to fight in front of the U.S. fans and get my name out over there a bit. I’ve always dreamed of a home fight. Three UFC cards have been cancelled while I’ve been on the card, in London and they’ve not gone ahead.

“I’m a bit hurt about it, to be honest, but it is what it is,” Murphy added. “If I keep racking up the wins then I’ll be able to headline back in the U.K. so, I’ll be running the show.”

Murphy revealed he requested to fight in his home country but was told by the UFC that the card was full. ‘The Miracle Man’ thinks employers are simply scrambling to put on fights amid the ongoing global pandemic and that means not everyone gets to fight in their most desired location.

“I did ask for that card (UFC London) but we was told it was too full at the time,” Murphy said. “So, I don’t know who else is on the card and whatnot. I just think it’s because of all this COVID stuff and they just trying to put whoever they can put on wherever.”

Lerone Murphy has great respect for Charles Jourdain but has no interest in leaving their September 4 fight in the hands of the judges.

‘The Miracle’ has established himself as a potential player at featherweight after going unbeaten in his first three UFC fights.

Murphy is now set to square off against one of the most exciting 145lb prospects in Jourdain who impressively returned to the win column last time out

In a recent interview with LowKickMMA, Murphy talked up his “dangerous” and “unpredictable” opponent.

“Very good fighter,” Murphy said when asked about Jourdain. “Dangerous, unpredictable and he’s in it (the fight) from bell to bell, no matter what, he’s one of them guys that just keeping coming forward through everything.

The Englishman expects their fight to be exciting for as long as it lasts.

“It’s a good fight, man. I think it’s going to be an exciting fight and probably one of the best fights on the card to be honest,” Murphy said. “I bring the heat and he brings the heat. So, it’s just going to be one of them, who lands clean, who wants it more and the best man will win on the night, simple.

Murphy went to the judges in his last fight but has no intention of doing so again. The 30-year-old says he’s made the necessary adjustments in the camp that should allow him to fight hard for the full 15 minutes and hopefully find the finish.

“That’s always the plan (to finish the fight),” Murphy said. “The last fight I felt like I didn’t have the cardio in the last round to push. I had a few issues in that camp, not to make any excuses, but I probably didn’t run the whole camp. I didn’t do no sprints and that’s what I usually do. I feel like that third round should’ve been me pushing forward rather than being on the backfoot counter fighting. That’s an adjustment we’ve been able to make in this camp and hopefully, we can get to get the job done inside the three rounds.”
