Now fans that can’t make it to the event can watch the fights live in the comfort of their homes. We are very excited that we are able to offer the fans a card stacked with such well-matched, high profile fighters for only $29.99.”

Dana White Insists Anderson Silva Can’t Repeat UFC 112 Antics

If you think about it, and this is easy for us to say since Chael Sonnen hasn’t been belittling us, our friends and sense of fashion, Anderson Silva might want to thank his next opponent for his over the top trash talk. It’s probably fair to say that if not for Chael’s vicious verbal assault […]

If you think about it, and this is easy for us to say since Chael Sonnen hasn’t been belittling us, our friends and sense of fashion, Anderson Silva might want to thank his next opponent for his over the top trash talk. It’s probably fair to say that if not for Chael’s vicious verbal assault heading into UFC 117, maybe there still would be a ton of focus on Silva’s WTF? antics vs. Demian Maia. Of course, the post-fight discussion took on a new life following his awful UFC 112 showing, due to Dana White’s insistence that Silva would get canned if he ever acted that way again.

Now we’re not trying to say Silva’s performance against Maia and his subsequent issues with White (and a lot of fans) has completely dropped off the radar screen, but you have to admit, Sonnen’s zingers have certainly dominated the headlines. All this aside, however, White continues to insist that if Silva does in fact have the balls to repeat his UFC 112 actions, Mr. #1 P4P will be unemployed (thanks to MMA Junkie for the quote).

“It’s about acting like a lunatic,” White said. “If he ever goes out and acts like a nut, like he did [at UFC 112], yes, I would cut him.”

Somehow we’re thinking this isn’t going to be an issue come Saturday night—certain things have been said; now it’s go time. To bet on tomorrow’s ‘this should be sick’ card, head here.

CHICAGO, Ill. (August 04, 2010) —Yoshiyuki Yoshida, a heavy handed Judo black belt and UFC veteran, has become the newest addition to the Bellator Fighting Championships’ roster, as he fights an unannounced opponent at Bellator 31 on September 30th for the chance to earn a spot in the Season 4 World Welterweight Tournament.

Yoshida is seasoned veteran of the Japanese mixed martial arts scene who quickly adapted to MMA in the US. He wasted little time choking out dangerous striker War Machine in his UFC debut with a vicious anaconda choke that came less than a minute into the first round. Yoshida also holds notable victories over the likes of Katsuya Inoue, Brandon Wolff and former UFC title challenger Dan Hardy.

“Yoshiyuki Yoshida is a multi-talented fighter with diverse abilities that could present problems for anyone in the welterweight division, said Bellator founder and CEO Bjorn Rebney. “At Bellator we’re dedicated to providing world-class, entertaining MMA and fighters like Yoshida at allow us to accomplish just that.”

Known for his flashy submissions and knockout power, Yoshida has finished 9 of his 11 victories, with 6 being stopped early due to KO or TKO, and the other 3 being finished via submission.

“For me, this is a new challenge,” said Yoshida. “There are many great fighters in Bellator so I am really looking forward to this opportunity,” said Yoshida. “I really like American fans and it’s my dream to keep fighting in the States. After the September fight, my focus will be solely on winning the Welterweight Tournament. Until then, I’m taking this one fight at a time.”

Yoshida joins an increasingly deep Bellator welterweight talent pool that currently includes Bellator Champion Lyman Good, Season 2 Tournament Champion Ben Askren, and Dan ‘The Handler’ Hornbuckle.
