The Jon Jones vs. Brock Lesnar superfight conversation is really beginning to heat up – and former UFC light heavyweight champion Randy Couture believes “Bones” has a legitimate chance at defeating the former heavyweight champ.

Jones comes off of a spectacular third round knockout win over Daniel Cormier in the main event of the UFC 214 pay-per-view (PPV) last month (Sat. July 29, 2017) to recapture the UFC 205-pound throne. Immediately after the fight, Jones proceeded to call out “The Beast” and dared him to meet him in the Octagon if he wanted to know what it was like to get beat by a smaller man.

Lesnar responded soon after with a statement to the Associated Press, saying “Be careful what you wish for, young man.” Former UFC heavyweight champ Randy Couture was recently asked about the potential superfight by TMZ, to which he said that Jones wouldn’t have to move that far up in weight for the fight – as “Bones” is perhaps heavier than he was when he fought Lesnar himself back in 2008:

“He doesn’t have to move very far, he’s a big guy at light heavyweight anyway,” Couture said. “I think he walks around at 230 or 240 when he’s not in training camp and ready to make 205. So – that’s bigger than I was when I fought Lesnar.”

Couture believes there is no doubt that Jones can compete with Lesnar, as long as he prepares for the fight with bigger training partners and prepares for the ‘worst case scenario’ which would be the WWE Champ ending up on top of him on the ground:

“I don’t think there’s any doubt about that. He can compete with Lesnar, he’s a long, rangy, great wrestler, very dynamic striking, he has all the tools he needs to compete with Lesnar. He has got to get some very big partners and get used to – worst case scenario is he gets knocked down and Lesnar gets on top of him. He has to be able to survive that. So we’ll see.”

UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture believes Jon Jones has “all the tools he needs” to step up a division and take on former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar.

The 54-year-old American said he does not think there is “any doubt” Jones could, with the right training, take on Lesnar, per TMZ Sports:

He can compete with Lesnar. He’s long, rangy, a great wrestler, very dynamic striking. He’s got all the tools he needs to compete with Lesnar. He’s got to get some very big partners and get used to it. Worst-case scenario, he gets knocked down and Lesnar gets on top of him. He’s got to be able to survive that. So we’ll see.

We’ve all watched a mixed martial arts fight where one fighter seemed outclassed from the moment the bout was scheduled.

Whether that fighter is facing skill or size obstacles, they still show up and fight, even when faced with insurmountable odds against them.

Take a look at the 10 biggest mismatches in MMA history:

10. Fedor Emelianenko vs. Zuluzinho

Anytime you have what might be the beast heavyweight mixed martial artist of all time in the ring, it may always seem a little lopsided.

That fact was no better demonstrated in his 36-second destruction of Brazilian behemoth Zuluzinho.

While Zulu was a formidable 6 foot 7 and over 400 pounds of human, his ridiculous size was not enough to overcome Fedor’s unbelievable win streak and skill-set.

A straight left hand planted the big man on his bottom. Fedor attacked with lightning quick instinct, and felled his foe before he was able to get to his feet from the very first punch landed.

For any sane, rational person, getting into a street fight with a professional MMA fighter would be considered a fate worse than death.

From vicious strikes to brutal slams and bone-breaking submissions, mixed martial artist pro’s spend their days learning new ways to inflict pain and punishment on anybody that’s foolish enough to stand in their way.

There’s always someone out there that’s looking for trouble though, and so while the majority of MMA stars are only interested in putting their techniques into practice in the cage, there are often stories about ocasions when they had to put their skills to use in the street.

In this article we’ll take a closer look at some of the most infamous street fight stories told by some of the UFC’s biggest stars, from outnumbered battles against barroom bouncers to life-threatening altercations with weapon-wielding thugs, and not forgetting the time several legends of the sport became embroiled in a brutal back-alley brawl.

Bas Rutten

Back in the mid-1990’s Bas Rutten was already a famous MMA fighter, and so when he showed up at the famous Spy Bar in Sweden the bouncers warned him to keep out of trouble.

Soon afterwards two of them pulled Rutten to one side and asked him to leave. Rutten agreed, but the bouncers seemed to be fixing for a fight and a shoving match ensued.

One of the bouncers then dived over his colleague and poked Rutten in the eye, then did the same to his other eye. Rutten dropped him with a single punch and before long he was now fighting five angry bouncers, all intent on beating him up.

’El Guapo’ sent more bodies went flying, but realized this wasn’t going to end well and decided to head for the exit.

He reached a fire escape, but couldn’t open the door and turned around to face the bouncers again, who were now armed with broomsticks.

Moments later the police showed up behind Rutten and the bouncers backed off.

Rutten was jailed that night after it emerged that one of the people he’d KO’d during the melee had been a cop, but in the end he was released a few days later after the charges were dropped.
