With scary knockout power and incredible speed in his hands, Junior Dos Santos has shown that he is one of the top heavyweights in the world during his time spent inside the UFC.

No one in the division has finished as many high-caliber opponents than Dos Santos the last few years, as he’s taken out 5 of his 6 UFC opponents, and most of them didn’t even get out of the first round.

After a promised title fight with Cain Velasquez fell through, Dos Santos is in his second straight No. 1 contender’s bout, but now he has some marketability to go with his talent after appearing on the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter.

Dos Santos will take on Shane Carwin in the main event of UFC 131 this weekend.

12 Bold MMA Predictions for the Summer of 2011

This year’s NBA Draft is pretty slim in talent; there isn’t a ton of depth or potential star-power to be had, past the top two picks (and, to be honest, both of those guys are pretty shoddy).

However, there are some players projected to be late-first round, early-second round draft picks that could become gems if the smartest teams select them.

These are usually players that didn’t get a ton of props because, despite whatever success they may have had, didn’t play in a Division I school; Additionally, these are also players on deep teams in college which saw them as the second-best player despite being crafty as a leader.

Whatever the case, there are always a handful of these dudes in each draft.

Here are ten of them in 2011.

Now that we are just a little bit into the taping of The Ultimate Fighter 14, it seems like a good time to write this.

The 14th season of the reality show features two fighters, Jason “Mayhem” Miller and Michael Bisping.

Bisping has already ticked off a lot of the MMA fanbase (again) and now will have to survive the hilarious verbal onslaught of the crazy Mayhem Miller.

This season will be the first season that showcases the newest additions to the UFC’s weight classes when the first bantamweight and featherweight fighters step foot into the UFC gym and house in Las Vegas and fight to become the first “Ultimate Fighter” in their respective weight class.

So here it is, five things for this season of The Ultimate Fighter.

June might as well have been dubbed MMA month. Every weekend in June has a fight card associated with it, and MMA fans couldn’t be happier. Cards from UFC, Strikeforce, and Bellator are being shown in the United States, with many of the fights having title implications.

The featherweight division and welterweight division have a lot riding on these next couple of weeks, but the heavyweight division will gain the most from these fight cards. The number one contender match Saturday will determine who will face Cain Velasquez in Houston this October at UFC 136, and the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix’s first round will conclude on June 18.

Many believe that the winner of the tournament will face off against the UFC champion sometime next year, as the UFC would have another opportunity to make a super fight. Fans have been wanting to see Alistair Overeem vs. Velasquez since Velasquez dethroned former champion Brock Lesnar, and winning the tournament might be Overeem’s opportunity to face the current UFC champion.

These are my top five fights of June that I judged from potential excitment, intriguing storylines and impact on their weight divisions.  I got around to doing this slideshow later than I wanted, so I didn’t get to include Anthony Pettis vs. Clay Guida.

Kenny “Kenflo” Florian is one of the most well-known fighters in the UFC as well as one of the most versatile (come Saturday, the man will have fought in four weight classes).

This Saturday at UFC 131 Florian is set to make his debut at featherweight against Brazilian Diego Nunes.

This fight will be one of the most important of Florian’s career. If he wins, it will be proven that featherweight is his weight class and domain—Jose Aldo beware. But should he lose, he will likely be cast off as a bum by the hordes of insensitive pundits and keyboard warriors.

Nevertheless, Florian’s career is an interesting one and he was (and still is) an influential figure in the UFC; not even a defeat Saturday night can rob him of this fact.

So, to celebrate Kenny Florian’s time in the cage, here are his top seven career-defining moments.

MMA is a hell of a sport.

In the early days of the sport, fans watched MMA in the hopes of seeing someone bludgeoned.

Fast forwarding to modern day, MMA fans seem to have a much more comprehensive appreciation for the sport. They cheer for a knockout, but they also cheer when a fighter retains guard, or hits a sweep.

It’s a beautiful thing.

That being said, who among us doesn’t still love to watch a fight where one fighter straight up beats the crap of his opponent?

There’s something entertaining about being able to say, “Wow. That guy might actually die.”

I’m exaggerating a bit.

When we, the fans, watch a fight we surely don’t want to see another fighter die. But, it is interesting to see just how much punishment the human body can take.

With that philosophy in mind, let’s take a look at the most one-sided beatdowns in UFC history.

The fights on the list are in no particular order.
