Sheymon Moraes evens the score with fellow Brazilian Marlon Moraes at PFL 10

The Professional Fighters League returns to us tonight, November 25, 2022, for PFL 10, headlined by a women’s lightweight championship encounter between two-time PFL champion Kayla Harrison and no. 1 ranked Larissa Pacheco.

Co-headlining the event is a featherweight championship bout between Brendan Loughnane and Bubba Jenkins.

Headlining the preliminary card was a featherweight rematch between former WSOF bantamweight champion Marlon Moraes and fellow UFC veteran Sheymon Moraes.

Marlon stopped Sheymon in the third round of their first encounter back in 2015 via submission (rear naked choke) to defend his title for the second time. He became the first defeat on Sheymon’s record that night, and he’d go on to defend that very title three more times prior to joining the UFC’s roster.

Tonight, courtesy of Shane Burgos withdrawing from his scheduled meet with Marlon Moraes via injury, Sheymon Moraes got a chance to avenge the first defeat of his career, and he did just that.

After a strong start by Marlon, showing him handily and dominantly out-strike Sheymon throughout the first two rounds, Sheymon landed a vicious overhand right that dropped Marlon and had him hurt badly. Sheymon went in for the kill and swarmed the former champion, finishing him off 58 seconds into round three.

It’s astonishing; their first fight ended in round three via submission, Marlon the victor, and their rematch ended in round three with a knockout, Sheymon the victor. You cannot write this. Does this set up a potential trilogy to take place in 2023?

Marlon Moraes (23-11-1) loses his PFL debut, as he’s now 1-6 in his last seven, all six defeats coming via knockout.

Sheymon Moraes (15-6) on the other hand improves to 4-1 in his last five with this comeback victory at PFL 10.

Daniel Cormier Believes Francis Ngannou Wins Stipe Miocic Rematch

Since his trilogy fight with Stipe Miocic earlier this month at UFC 252, Daniel Cormier has had some time to reflect not only on his career, but the sport as a whole as well. Since his trilogy fight with Stipe Miocic earlier this month at UFC 252, Daniel Cormier has had some time to reflect not only on his career, but the sport as a whole as well. Everyone knows Francis Ngannou is the No. 1 contender for the heavyweight throne, and Cormier believes he beats Miocic should they rematch.

‘DC’ had the following to say earlier today on ESPN MMA:

“The next time Stipe (Miocic) steps into the octagon, I don’t feel confident he’s gonna win, because all those shots come at a cost. I think Francis (Ngannou) wins the title next time.

“Unless Stipe takes a lot of time off to try to let his mind and his body, his head recover a little bit. Because think about it, Francis hit him with all those shots in January, I hit him in July and he went down, right? He took all the shots from Francis, but then when I hit him in July he went down.

“The last two years I hit him with those same shots and he was able to take ’em because it was a year between fights. So unless he takes a long time, the next time he fights he’s gonna get knocked out, because over the last three years, we’ve done a ton of damage to each other. We fought ten rounds in total.”

The former two-division UFC champion makes a good point, a great point. Luckily for us, Miocic has confirmed that Ngannou is next.

“Ngannou has definitely shown a lot better stuff since the first fight. He’s knocking everyone out in the first round. He’s just on a tear.”

On the other hand, Miocic has also stated that a rematch with Ngannou isn’t exciting to him.

“Francis isn’t exciting to me, already put on a 25 minutes clinic on how to beat him. (I) Want a new challenge! (I) Would love to box.”

With Jon Jones having vacated his UFC Light-Heavyweight Championship to go up to heavyweight, it’s doubtful he’d jump in front of Ngannou, though Jones moving to heavyweight has been talked about for years, and he still has yet to lose a fight.

Ngannou lost his next fight to Derrick Lewis after losing to Miocic because he was gunshy, but he’s won his last four straight, all via knockout, and without a single one of them going past 71 seconds. Perhaps Miocic can give Ngannou his rematch, then welcome Jones to the heavyweight division?

Who do you see winning Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou II?

Boxing will once again put together a mega fight between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin, as reports are surfacing stating the rematch will go down on May 5, 2018 in Las Vegas.

While the first fight ended in a draw, both men are widely regarded as the two best lighter weight boxers in the world, especially with Floyd Mayweather now once again retired and Manny Pacquiao no longer fighting in his prime.

According to an interview by the LA Times with Golden Boy Entertainment President Eric Gomez, a third fight between the two isn’t off the table as well.

“It’s going to be another great fight, so it’ll likely be a natural to do another rematch, but it’s not in the agreement. We want to concentrate on getting this [second Alvarez-Golovkin fight] done and then we can talk about a third fight later. I know Canelo’s going to win. I think Canelo figured him out in the last three rounds. Look at that fight. Canelo handled [Golovkin] those last three rounds. And this time around, Canelo’s going to have an easier time with him. Not an easy fight, but he has the experience now and he wants this fight.”

Boxing has been in a bit of a lull ever since Mayweather vs. McGregor and the first GGG vs. Alvarez fights late last year. Heavyweights like Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua are gaining some well-deserved notoriety, but a bout between the two seems unlikely, at least for the foreseeable future.

Until then, the fight to make is a rematch between GGG vs. Canelo, which reports say will be held in the new T-Mobile Arena.

Who do you see winning the rematch between Golovkin and Alvarez? Is that the best possible bout to make in boxing right now?
