Russian bantamweight Vyacheslav Svischev flashed some deadly striking accuracy over the weekend at Open FC 19 in Samara, Russia.

Scheduled as the fourth fight of a six-fight main card, Svischev entered the cage opposite Kyrgyzstan’s Belek Aliev.

After the two bantamweights exchanged on the feet early, the southpaw Svischev backed Aliev up with a jab followed by a left straight to the body. The Russian fighter then landed a perfectly timed left uppercut as Aliev ducked in before following up with a left straight to the head as Aliev was falling to the canvas.

The 28-year-old Svischev improves his record to 9-2 with this win. Now on a four-fight win streak, Svischev has finished all four of those opponents via strikes and all of his career victories have come via stoppage.

Svischev’s win was the third of what ended up being four-straight KO/TKO finishes on the Open FC 19 main card. Light heavyweight Vladimir Seliverstov stopped his opponent in less than thirty seconds following Svischev’s victory, and in the heavyweight main event Yuriy Fedorov won a unanimous decision over Shamil Abasov.

What’s your reaction to Vyacheslav Svischev’s knockout?

A mysterious Russian MMA fighter is making headlines today after one of the most unusual assaults we’ve seen at a press conference to date.

The whole thing was captured on video, taken from a press conference held by a Russian promotion thought to be called “Arena Fighting”.

MMA Fighter Gives Opponent Flowers and Attacks

The clip opens up with one fighter advancing to the other, flowers in hand. He extends them as a gift, but when the other fighter starts to get up, the man who had the flowers hits him with a roundhouse that appears to get checked.

That doesn’t stop the action, as the original aggressor takes his opponent down, as security and even another random fighter intervened to split them up.

Things seem to calm down once the two get separated, but all of a sudden the MMA fighters get back into it again, and the gift giver seemingly lands or barely grazes the recipient with a spinning back kick. Unfortunately for the man who was given the gift and assaulted, security was about to rough him up too.

One of the security guards can be seen getting the gift recipient in a rear-body lock, before fully raising him up and channeling Rampage Jackson’s aura with a vicious slam.

Russia is known for having some of the wilder MMA promotions. Including Epic Fighting, which is known for putting on purposefully mismatched fights, or “Freak Show Fights”, including male vs female bouts.

One such fight saw a female MMA fighter take on a 530lbs man. While another featured a female fighter named Yulia Mishko who took on a 75-year old man and his 18-year-old grandson at the same time… and she won.

Is freak-show fighting becoming the most disturbing new MMA trend? Give us your thoughts in the comments below!

There has been a never-ending string of opinions in the wake of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s ill-timed brawl following his UFC 229 main event win over Conor McGregor.

The UFC’s biggest-ever pay-per-view event last Saturday (Oct. 6, 2018) from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, was supposed to be ‘The Eagle’s’ crowning achievement. In one way it was, as he submitted former two-division champion McGregor. However, that potentially historic win was marred by his actions shortly thereafter.

Khabib leaped into the crowd to fight McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis, inciting a wildfire of violence. Three of Khabib’s teammates then scaled the cage and assaulted the Irish superstar. The bad blood definitely stems from McGregor’s infamous Brooklyn bus attack, and that’s understandable.

However, UFC 229 provided the stoic Khabib with the opportunity to shut McGregor up in the Octagon. He did that. But his normally soft-spoken style was uprooted by his actions. One UFC champion believes Khabib should not have allowed McGregor’s disrespect to change his own actions.

That man is middleweight champion Robert Whittaker. “Bobby Knuckles” sent a well-liked tweet Khabib’s way containing a deep quote about respect:

A Good Point

The 185-pound ruler has a good point. Nurmagomedov spent the majority of the build-up to UFC 229 keeping his mouth shut even though he probably wanted to explode inside.

Khabib accomplished his ultimate goal and dominated McGregor from pillar to post. There was no need to stoop to his level and commit outside-the-cage violence. The commission presiding over UFC 229 is not impressed and admitted that in a recent statement.

Khabib and McGregor will both face a complaint from the NSAC for their parts in the melee. The champion’s situation seems to be a bit more dire as the commission withheld his purse. Dana White doesn’t believe the NSAC should keep his whole $2,000,000 or strip him of the title. Khabib’s punishment is very much up in the air.

He’s soared up the UFC pound-for-pound rankings in the meantime.

Conor McGregor Slams Khabib’s ‘Quivering Coward’ Father

Conor McGregor calls Khabib’s father a ‘quivering coward’ at UFC 229 presser.

Conor McGregor slams Khabib Nurmagomedov’s ‘quivering coward’ father to kick off the UFC 229 festivities.

As usual, the Irishman held no punches at the UFC 229 press conference. McGregor dished political, crossed family lines, and got in Khabib’s face several times during the 30-minute presser. But did McGregor go too far when he verbally attacked Khabib’s father and coach Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov?

The Backstory

You may remember Abdulmanap was a subject of one of McGregor’s Instagram rants just about a week ago. McGregor continued to go after Abdulmanap’s character at the presser. He didn’t miss a beat when a media member asked if he was able to get a visa to attend UFC 229 in Las Vegas.

”I don’t know,” Khabib said. “Still working, but I think maybe no.”

Even with UFC President Dana White and United States President Donald Trump having a tight relationship its unlikely Abdulmanap will be able to secure a visa for October 6. Russian fighters have had a notoriously hard time securing visas in the past.

”Smell of shite off yer pa,” McGregor declared before going off on a rant that somewhat explains his earlier Instagram post.

Apparently, this whole thing boils down to a photo of Abdulmanap with the head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov. He is a controversial figure often referred to as a dictator and warlord. Kadyrov and his lieutenants have been accused of war crimes including most recently the rounding up and execution of gay men.

”The Chechen people know what I’m talking about when I called this man a coward,” McGregor said. “When I called his father a quivering coward. Him and Kadyrov were at a mosque together, and he posts a picture of Kadirov on his Instagram. Kadirov’s the Chechen dictator, a crazy man, don’t get me wrong. But, Khabib’s father, lick-*** O’Hoolihan, posts a picture of Kadirov at his mosque and the caption is, ‘Together we are stronger.’”

McGregor’s Presser Callout

“It’s such fake respect and fear. The Chechen people know that if the tables were turned and there was an opportunity for his father to stab that man in the back, he would do it in a heartbeat to take over, and he did not do nothing. And that’s why he’s a quivering coward, because he showed fake respect out of fear. And that’s where ‘quivering coward’ came from.”

McGregor’s comments did not seem to phase the Dagestani fighter who glared straight through the dapper Irishman.

”I don’t know what his father teach him, by my father teach me: you cannot never give up, and be respect always,” Nurmagomedov said. “This is what my father teach me. And I never give up, and I always show respect. I don’t know about his father, I don’t want to talk **** about his father … I am gonna teach him inside the cage.”

Rising UFC middleweight Merab Dvalishvili put on a brutal showing against a respected veteran at last week’s (Sat., Sept. 15, 2018) UFC Fight Night 136 from Olympic Stadium in Moscow, Russia.

But he didn’t just beat longtime fighter CB Dollaway at the UFC’s debut in Russia. No, he floored him and absolutely rained down one of the most one-sided beatings the Octagon has unfortunately ever witnessed. Dvalishvili was only doing his job, however, the true fault of the fight was on referee Herb Dean.

Dean let Dvalishvili land countless shots on a turtled Dolloway who was making no effort to defend himself whatsoever. Dan Hardy, who was cageside calling the fights, pleaded for longtime official Dean to stop, yet he would not answer. He finally stepped in to call off the fight in a strange scene. The comparisons to disgraced ref Mario Yamasaki for the inexplicable decision had already begun, however.

Hardy appeared on this week’s episode of The MMA Hour to detail his opinion of Dean’s jaw-dropping negligence. The former welterweight title contender offered his respect for the longtime official, but also insisted the fight was over:

“It’s difficult to criticize Herb Dean because he’s refereed me before and he’s been excellent. He’s had an excellent career as a referee so far. I mean, I don’t know what went wrong, to be honest. For me and I think for everyone in the arena who starts to boo, I think we all saw the fight was over.”

“The Outlaw” then went in Dean a bit more, adding that he did Dolloway a disservice by letting him take so many shots:

“I feel like Herb did him a disservice there,” Hardy said. “He could have saved him from at least 10 seconds of punches. He was curled up on his side, then he moved belly down, and for me, that’s too many, when they’re belly down, they’re done.”

Hardy admitted that Dolloway was a warrior, but the fight had reached a point where he had nothing left to give. At said point, Hardy believed, it was the ref’s job to save the fighter from themselves:

“I watched the fight back today and I think it was 26 seconds before the end of the round, I said something about Dollaway, fatigue had taken over and he had not a lot to give,” Hardy said. “He was trying to fight back he’s a warrior, he wouldn’t give up. I always appreciate a guy who will take a beating until the referee stops it, but that’s what the referee is for is to save the fighters from themselves and from their ego and pride.”
