Jake Paul

Jake Paul was able to extend his unbeaten record further following his devastating KO over Tyron Woodley. Post-fight, ‘The Problem Child’ took this as an opportunity to try and line up his next opponent calling out multiple different fighters who are currently under the UFC Banner.

The likes of Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal were two of the names mentioned however as many of us are aware, it’s extremely unlikely Dana White is going to allow either fighter for a one-off boxing match, especially if it doesn’t make sense financially. However, there is one name that does make sense, who is a former UFC fighter and therefore no longer under contract.

Chris Weidman believes Jake Paul should challenge himself next against an opponent who he knows very well in former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Weidman spoke on the Wont Back Down Podcast giving Paul advice on who he should face as his next opponent.

“I would love to see him fight Anderson Silva; he’s calling out all these fighters with UFC contracts. I don’t think he’s really – none of those are really going to happen at this point.”

“The UFC would have to get behind it almost like a Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather type match. But unless you’re drawing in $500 million like the Mayweather and Conor McGregor fights were doing, the UFC’s not doing that because they want to split it. They would split it, but if it’s not that type of money, they’re not doing it. So (we’re) wasting our time even talking about (Nate) Diaz, (Jorge) Masvidal and (Kamaru) Usman.” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)

Jake Paul vs Anderson Silva?

Although ‘The Spider’ is no longer the competitor he used to be at 46 years old, he has taken very well to boxing and his excellent technique still prevails. Silva currently holds a 3-1 record with a victory over former WBC Middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Silva would put on a display in his last outing by stopping Tito Ortiz in 80 seconds back in September. Silva’s sleek striking and movement could provide Jake Paul with his biggest test to date.

Yes, you did read that right. Car-Jitsu is the newest style of competition to enter the combat world.

If you thought facing someone in a grappling match alone was hard enough, try doing it inside of a car.

Car Jitsu was initially created by Vik Mikheev in 2020. The two participants compete in two three-minute rounds with each player alternating between the driven and passenger in between rounds.

Points are earned by gaining a dominant position or securing a submission. If the score remains tied following the second round, both members will compete in a ‘back-seat only’ grappling match with the winner determined by whoever earns the most points within the 4-minute time limit.

The ruleset states that everything inside the vehicle is considered fair game and allowed to be used and will be classed as ‘creative use of the environment’ that includes mirrors, seat belts, and even the steering wheel. How you use them to your advantage really is yet to be seen but as the sport develops, we are only going to see weird and wonderful moments because of these objects being in play. 4-points are awarded if you can achieve mount or back control, whilst you are awarded two points in you are able to place your knee onto your opponent’s stomach.

The Origins of Car-Jitsu

Founder Viz Mikheev spoke to the Jiu-Jitsu Times on how he came up with this truly unique idea in the first place.

“In 2020, I came up with the idea of doing competitive grappling in vehicles. Since October of 2020, I and my friends run small tournaments of Car-Jitsu to study the aspects of jiu-jitsu application in such a confined space. (transcribed by mmanews.com)

Many fighters within the UFC will compete in such things as Submission Grappling and competing across these sports can get confusing, Sean Strickland demonstrated this when he gave up his back to Andy Varela who subsequently went onto to secure a Rear-naked choke. At least with car-Jitsu you own be able to just walk off from your opponent.

However, this isn’t the first time we have had a unique styled sport enter the combat world, with competitions such as combat pillow fighting and multi-member team MMA battles, Car-Jitsu will have to be added to the list alongside these.

Would you give Car-Jitsu a try?

Sean O’Malley feels that following on from his knockout loss Tyron Woodley has ruined the legacy he had built for himself across MMA. Woodley has lost back-to-back boxing matches against Jake Paul with the rematch ending by a devastating KO.

‘The Chosen One’ also had the misfortune of losing his final four bouts in a row within the UFC and although it was against the top end of the division it showed the true trajectory the former welterweight champion was heading on.

O’Malley spoke on an episode of the TimboSugarShow and explained that like many fans the vicious KO caught him off guard given the slow pace of the fight in the rounds prior to this.

“I was watching them on my laptop with my eyes kind of shutting. It was the sixth round getting closer to the end of the fight. It looked like it was probably gonna go all eight [rounds] and it was a close fight.”

“I didn’t really know who I had necessarily winning each round. But, out of f*cking nowhere, [Paul] slept him… bad!”

Sean O’Malley says Woodley’s legacy is now ‘completely destroyed’

Woodley now sits in a difficult spot as an athlete himself. Given his ending at the UFC, it is extremely unlikely they would be looking to re-sign the former champion, and with boxing not going the way he wanted who knows what’s next for him.

However, no matter what adventure he moves on to Sean O’Malley feels that this loss could still have a serious effect.

“Dude, it completely destroyed his f*cking legacy,” O’Malley said. “That could affect Tyron Woodley big time, or he could just be completely unattached to that and still be happy. That’s a f*cking skill that you have to require.” (transcribed by mmanews.com)

Khamzat Chimaev

Khamzat Chimaev had one of the most impressive starts within the UFC that we have seen for a very long time, smashing his way through his first four opponents ‘Borz’ is now looking for his fifth.

Chimaev has been extremely active on social media calling out pretty much every fighter on the UFC roster in hopes for scheduling his next bout, however, Dana White has admitted that finding an opponent has been a lot harder than anticipated.

The likes of Nate Diaz, Kamaru Usman, Colby Covington and most recently Belal Muhammad have all been potential matchups that ‘Borz’ has been calling for, however, given his time in the UFC only consisting of four fights many of these more experienced UFC fighters are opting against running such a high risk in a fight against Chimaev.

“@danawhite let me eat this guy bro neil_magny170,” Chimaev wrote on Instagram.

Khamzat Chimaev vs Neil Magny?

Following reports on social media, it appears now that an opponent has been found, and a more than willing one in the form of welterweight contender Neil Magny.

Neil Magny has been vocal on social media for quite some time now trying to not only get himself a fight but get himself a fight against Chimaev. Dana White would go on to say that Magny is one of few fighters and if not currently the only one in the division willing to accept a deal and test himself against the undefeated prospect.

Magny last competed at UFC Fight Night: Rodriguez vs. Waterson where he was able to beat Geoff Neal via unanimous decision. Khamzat Chimaev’s last outing came at his return following a year off against Li Jingliang and UFC 267 where Chimaev was able to secure the submission victory inside of the first round.

Who do you think would win a fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Neil Magny?

Michael Bisping has put praise onto Jake Paul following his devastating KO of Tyron Woodley this past weekend whilst speaking on an episode of his Believe You Me podcast.

Paul and Woodley faced each other once again come Saturday night and although many fans again were disappointed with the performances of both, that all soon changed when Paul landed an overhand-right which sent Woodley faceplanting to the canvas in the 6th round.

The former UFC Champion praised Paul for the power he was able to generate within that shot and highlighted how it wasn’t something he was able to do during his long and successful career.

“I’ll tell you this. Here’s another thing, he’s knocked out everybody that he’s faced. He knocked out Tyron Woodley, Ben Askren, Nate Robinson. And I’ll tell you what, that knockout of Woodley there – I’ve had about 40 professional MMA fights, boxing fights, kickboxing fights – I’ve never slept anyone like that. You know what I mean? That was a f***ing knockout and a half.”

Michael Bisping labels Paul vs. Woodley 2 a ‘sh*t show’

However, like many fans, Michael Bisping was disappointed with the overall performance of both men inside the ring. Until the knockout blow came there had been very little of anything from either fighter.

“I did watch it, the debacle that it was. It wasn’t really a fight, it’s always tricky talking about Tyron Woodley because I like Tyron a lot, but what a s*** show! What a s*** show that was, f*** me, even their own commentators were talking s*** about it and saying, ‘what is this?’ I forget what the exact quotes were but they weren’t very complimentary. There was a lot of hugging, there wasn’t too much fighting and fortunately for Jake Paul, he managed to get the knockout in the sixth round.” (Transcribed by sportskeeda.com)

Derrick Lewis

Derrick Lewis spoke to the media for the first time following on from his interim title loss to Cyril Gane back in August.

‘The Black Beast’ faces off against Chris Daukaus who is currently undefeated inside the Octagon at UFC Vegas 45 on Saturday.

Lewis spoke at the pre-fight press conference about Daukaus and the respect he has for what he does, however, come fight night Lewis knows he cannot allow for that feeling of respect for Daukaus to overtake him.

“He’s got to be a good guy because he’s a police officer, and you know I support the police departments all over the world and especially here in Houston,” Lewis said. “I appreciate most of y’all for letting me slide with a speeding ticket here and there, so I appreciate y’all, back the blue all day long. Whenever you are fighting a police officer you don’t want to get Rodney King’d on ESPN. So, you’ve got to go out there and fight hard man, do it for the people,”

Rodney King was an American activist who was beaten by LAPD police officers during his arrest. Following on from a high-speed chase whilst driving intoxicated. The entire incident was filmed by a local bystander George Holliday, who then sent the footage over to the media and local news station KTLA.

What’s next for Derrick Lewis?

Many fans were unsure what was next for Derrick Lewis, following on from his shortcoming against Cyril Gane, so when the announcement was made, he would be fighting Chris Daukaus fans were delighted.

If Lewis can get the job done, where does he go from here?

Lewis himself spoke upon wanting a match-up with former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic which makes the most sense given both fighters are ranked 2nd and 3rd in the rankings. Another option that would bring two heavy hitters together is Jairzinho Rozenstruik. Rozenstruik sits 6th in the heavyweight rankings and is also coming off a loss to Curtis Blaydes. As well as this another option could be looking into a potential rematch with Alexander Volkov who dominated most of the bout only for Lewis to catch him and still the victory from under his feet in the last 10 seconds.

What’s next for Derrick Lewis if he is able to win come Saturday night?
