The University of the Cumberlands in Kentucky will pay $14.1 million to the family of Grant Brace, a college wrestler who died following a ‘punishment practice’ in 2020.

Brace, 20, passed away due to a heat stroke after a ‘punishment practice’ held by the team’s coaches per a report from CNN. Coaches Jordan Countryman and Jake Sinkovics “ignored Grant’s deteriorating medical condition throughout practice,” per the lawsuit filed by Brace’s family. Countryman and Sinkovics also reportedly prevented Brace’s teammates from assisting him despite multiple pleas for help and eventually sent him out of the practice alone. He attempted to get water from a nearby fountain that was out of service. He also attempted to enter a building in a desperate attempt for help but was unable to gain entry and collapsed shortly after.

Roughly 45 minutes after being removed from the practice, Countryman and Sinkovics began looking for the college wrestler. Brace was found dead “with his hands clenched in the grass and dirt after a desperate and erratic search for assistance and water.” Per a report from Kentucky.com, the ‘punishment practice’ required wrestlers to sprint up and down ‘punishment hill’ for seven circuits. Brace completed multiple circuits before sitting down due to exhaustion. “I’m done. I can’t do this anymore,” Brace reportedly said before being excused.

University Will Honor College Wrestler Grant Brace with B.R.A.C.E. Protocol

The school opted to settle with the Brace family out of respect for their tragic and unnecessary loss despite a belief that they could adequately defend themselves against the claims.

“Grant was a talented, well-liked young man entering his junior year with a bright future ahead of him,” Chancellor Jerry Jackson said in a statement Wednesday. “Our University community continues to mourn his untimely loss. We sincerely hope that resolving this matter early in the legal process will offer the Brace family a measure of peace and healing.”

The settlement will also require the school to implement the B.R.A.C.E Protocol, a program that will educate “coaches and athletes about exertional heat strokes in order to prevent further heat-related deaths.”

Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia will both be putting their undefeated records on the line when the pair clash in a 136lbs catchweight fight on April 15th in Las Vegas.

Gervonta Davis notched his 26th professional knockout only yesterday when he stopped Hector Luis Garcia in the eight-round at the Capital One Arena, Washington.

Davis started slowly before he began to put the pressure on heavily causing the cumulative damage that Garcia faced preventing him from getting up from his corner before the start of the ninth round.

Another stoppage victory for Davis and another successful defense of his WBA Lightweight world championship saw his professional record extend to an extremely impressive 28-0. Having just defeated one Garcia, ‘Tank’ revealed he is now ready to take on Ryan Garcia in what has been one of the most highly anticipated matchups in recent times.

Following on from his victory Davis reflected on the matchup and looked ahead to his highly anticipated showdown.

“I knew when I caught him, he was hurt. He was hurt bad. He’s a fighter. He didn’t wanna show it,”

“I’ll be ready. I’m ready for the fight. He’s been training, he’s been talking, and let’s see who’s really about that.” Davis said post-fight.

Questions surrounded whether his matchup against Hector Luis Garcia would go ahead after Davis was arrested earlier this week facing a domestic violence charge of battery causing bodily harm. Having been cleared of these charges, Davis was able to compete and continue his run of fine form taking out another undefeated world champion.

Following the result, Ryan Garcia took to social media to let his next opponent know what he has coming for him when the pair meet on April 15th.

Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia Scheduled For April 15th

The pair have traded blows back and forth on social media for months but will now finally get to settle their differences inside the ring. Both men enter the bout holding undefeated records with a combined 45 knockouts in their 51 professional outings.

Garcia most recently extended his undefeated record to 23-0 when he stopped Javier Fortuna in the sixth round of their clash securing his nineteenth professional stoppage.

Who do you think will when Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia throw down in April?

Zion Clark

Zion Clark, the wrestler who was born with no legs due to a birth disorder secured his first professional MMA victory this weekend.

The Guinness world record holder was able to use his wrestling to ground his opponent Eugene Murray in every round en route to sweeping the judge’s scorecards at Gladiator Challenge: Seasons Beatings.

Concerns arose when the announcement was made that Clark would be debuting in professional MMA given the disadvantage, he would be at but that did not phase the college wrestler in the slightest.

Clark was able to secure a takedown in every round to ground his opponent which was met with a delighted roar from the crowd en route to his victory.

Zion Clark Delivers on Professional MMA Debut

Clark was born with a rare birth defect known as Caudal Regression Syndrome which prevented him from having any development from below the spine. Clark did not let this prevent him from ultimately achieving his goal and that has been his outlook on life.

From an early age, the 25-year-old had to overcome the odds to get to where he was today. Given up for adoption at an early age Clark spent a vast portion of his childhood bouncing around the foster care system.

He began his wrestling career in elementary school and things did not go to plan as he failed to secure his first victory for several years. Determined as ever Clark continued to defy the odds and would finish his senior year with a record of 33-15, falling just short in his championship match after combatting a grueling 6-minute matchup only to lose in sudden death.

Given the inspiration Zion Clark’s story gave to many it came as no surprise that Netflix decided to produce a documentary series on his rise to the top.

Joe Rogan shares his views of the Liver King steroid usage: “I wasn’t surprised at all.”

Joe Rogan has reacted to the recent news that The Liver King had lied about his use of steroids in order to improve his physique.

Speaking on an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the UFC commentator brought along Derek from More Plates More Dates (MPMD) who is an expert in understanding the use of performance-enhancing drugs.

At 45 years old The Liver King had a physique that only very few determined individuals could achieve. From the moment he burst through on the internet scene speculation surrounded just how legitimate and natural his body was.

Despite his original claims of being an authentic athlete, his false claims came to light when an email transcript was linked showing him openly admitting to the use of steroids.

Since this had become unveiled, The Liver King took to his social media to apologise to his following for hiding the truth.

From his initial outburst, Joe Rogan had always believed that Liver King was lying about his physique being achieved naturally given his age and how difficult it would be to reach where he was.

Now that the truth has come out, Joe Rogan sat down with Derek from MPMD to share his thoughts on The Liver King saga.

Joe Rogan Unsurprised By Liver King Steroid Usage

“I wasn’t surprised at all. It completely makes sense but that’s exactly what I expected. There’s no way you can look like that, in your 40s, that jacked, I mean he’s preposterously jacked.” Rogan said.

“Most people could see through it but at the same time, a lot of big names reached out to me when the video came out and they were like, ‘I didn’t think he was natural but this guy literally right to my face would say blatantly I am natural.’ He was lying through his teeth seemingly.”

“The problem with this too is that a lot of people will extrapolate this out and then think everyone with a jacked physique must be doing something, which is problematic… I do believe that physique, maybe not that physique but within striking distance of that in 0.00001% of individuals. You could get there naturally.” Derek responded. (Transcribed by FitnessVolt)

One man who likes to joke about his own type of enhancement is Paulo Costa. Proud owner of the ‘secret juice’, the Brazilian and The Liver King had an exchange prior to the announcement declaring a competition against each other for who has the better physique. Whilst we know Costa’s juice is a gimmick with which he plays along with, it seems that for The Liver King, we cannot say the same.

Did you ever believe that The Liver King has achieved his physique naturally?

The two men had met four times previously before this matchup with the Thai fighter emerging victorious on three occasions having already finished Sato in one of their previous meetings.

And it would be Buakaw who was victorious once again, the bout did not last long with both men exchanging fierce punches and kicks before Buakaw would land a shot that put Sato on the floor.

Buakaw Banchamek Calls For Greater Challenge In His Next Matchup

Speaking to the media post-fight, Baukaw revealed that he had expected himself to be involved in a much tougher matchup and had trained himself in preparation for such a thing.

His opponent Sato had not competed for nearly eight years however he told the media that he had continued to train during this period but unfortunately came up short on the night.

It is unknown where Sato will go from here however it seems that Buakaw already has his next matchup scheduled.

According to Tapology, Buakaw Banchamek will face Saenchai ‘King Star’ Saenpong in a main-event matchup at a Bare-Knuckle Fighting Championship card scheduled to take place in March of 2023. Both men are perceived as ‘Muay Thai Legends’ having a combined 600 plus matchups competing within the sport. This will be the first occasion for Saenpong to compete in BKFC.

Whether the Thai legend will have another fight prior to this matchup is still undecided.

How much are you looking forward to this battle of two legends?
