It is no surprise to see the talented Lee back in the UFC and is eager to return to competition, eyeing a big name for July of this year.

Me and Tony Ferguson,” Lee said to Helen Yee. “A lot of people are calling for that fight, they wanna see the rematch. I feel like it’s gonna right a whole bunch of wrong that kinda happened back in 2017 and it’s gonna put me right back on the right track.

“I feel like that’s the fight that people wanna see, its a great fight for Tony, it a great fight for me, it’s a great fight for the UFC. We had a great fight the first time, I don’t think people realise the significance of the first time we had it so I think its only right we run it back.”

Nate Diaz UFC Conor McGregor Mike Tyson

The infamous former UFC superstar Nate Diaz was quick to shrug off Mike Tyson’s compliment Conor McGregor’s boxing venture recently.

On a recent episode of Hotboxin’ With Mike Tyson, the former heavyweight sensation praised McGregor for what he achieved in his mega-fight with Floyd Mayweather.

Conor McGregor never really had a boxing match in his life right? Never really had a boxing match. He went ten rounds with the greatest fighter in the last 100 years of boxing.”

Tyson said that regardless of the end result, fans need to remember that not only did he face an elite boxer, but perhaps one of the greatest fighters we’ve ever seen.

“He went ten rounds, scored punches on the greatest fighter in the last 100 years. Look what he had to fight against. Look what he did when he fought against it.”

Not long after videos of Tyson’s praise circulated social media, Nate Diaz did not hesitate in reminding the world what he pulled off at UFC 196.

The last time the two traded blows in a cage may have been nearly seven years ago, but they certainly have not shied away from insulting each other on social media any chance they get.

A trilogy between the superstars to settle their even score has been rumoured and demanded by fans for years, but since both fighters have returned on numerous occasions and once again departed, the chances of a trilogy continue to fade.

As McGregor carries on filming The Ultimate Fighter 31 in Las Vegas, Dana White says that an announcement for a matchup against Michael Chandler is inevitable.

It is unknown exactly how healthy McGregor’s leg is following his surgery as a result of the gruesome injury he faced in his trilogy with Dustin Poirier.

As for Nate Diaz, his last fight was as recent as September of 2022 against Tony Ferguson.

His victory against ‘El Cucuy’ was the final fight of his UFC contract, following a 15 year reign in the promotion’s roster.

Diaz has jawed back and forth with numerous fighters online, but it seems his most likely destination will end up in a boxing ring, with his interest following a big payday.

If Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor fought in the Octagon one last time, who would come out victorious?

Kevin Lee Tony Ferguson UFC rematch

Having penned terms to make an Octagon return last month, former interim UFC lightweight title challenger, Kevin Lee, appears to have sights set on a rematch with former interim champion, Tony Ferguson – in an attempt to avenge a 2017 submission loss.

Last month, reports emerged detailing how Lee, a former UFC lightweight and welterweight contender, had inked a multi-fight deal with the organization again, ahead of a return to the Dana White-led banner later this year,

Departing the promotion back in 2021, Kevin Lee featured at UFC Vegas 35 in August of that year, suffering a unanimous decision loss to Daniel Rodriguez.

Slapped with an official suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission after failed to disclose his use of prescribed of Adderall to treat ADHD, the former interim title challenger soon linked up with the Khabib Nurmagomedov-led, Eagle FC.

Matching with UFC alum, Diego Sanchez in a super lightweight clash, Lee managed to return to the winner’s enclosure in a unanimous decision win last March.

Kevin Lee eyes rematch with Tony Ferguson in Octagon comeback

Yet to be booked for his first outing during his second tenure with the UFC, Lee shared a fan-made poster, billing a second fight between himself and Oxnard veteran, Ferguson, on his official Instagram account – as well as a story post captioned, ‘time to correct history”.

“Looks like Kevin Lee has set his sights on a rematch with Tony Ferguson for his return to the UFC,” Chisanga Malata tweeted

Headlining UFC 216 against Ferguson in October 2017, Lee started brightly against The Ultimate Fighter victor, however, dropped an eventual third round triangle submission loss in the pair’s interim lightweight title fight.

In the midst of a five-fight losing skid having previously racked up a division-best 12 straight victories, at the welterweight limit last time out, Ferguson dropped a guillotine submission loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 279 last September in a headlining fight.

Tony Ferguson alleges that Khabib Nurmagomedov and his former manager Ali Abdelaziz owe him a large amount of money from a business wrongdoing.

Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov may have never gotten the chance to settle their rivalry inside the octagon, but the animosity between the two remains strong. In their primes, a fight between the two would have been an enthralling display of mixed martial arts competition, but sadly this matchup never came to fruition.

Tony Ferguson Says Khabib and Ali Owes Him More than Half a Million Dollars

Via Twitter, Ferguson wrote a colorfully worded post claiming Khabib and Ali’s wrongdoings on a business deal that went south. While these allegations are serious, the specific details of the situation have not been disclosed.

What Could Have Been Between Khabib and Tony

During their primes, Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov were on a tear, just dominating every opponent in front of them. The two were set numerous times to settle the score in the UFC Lightweight division, but it turns out the matchup was never meant to be.

Three separate fight cancellations ended the possibility of the two matching up, and thus each fighter went on different journeys. Since Tony Ferguson’s 2019 victory over Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, he has lost five fights in a row, and it’s now clear that Tony’s title aspirations are a thing of the past. Khabib Nurmagomedov ended his MMA career on a high note, retaining his UFC Lightweight title over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 in 2020.

While Ferguson and Nurmagomedov never had the chance to settle their rivalry inside the cage, this new claim by Tony Ferguson re-ignites a heated rivalry from their past.

Veteran UFC lightweight contender, Michael Johnson has blasted past opponent and perennial division challenger, former interim champion, Tony Ferguson – branding his boxing “garbage” amid rumors of a potential rematch between the two veterans.

Johnson, who boasts a 21-18 professional record, managed to return to the winner’s enclosure back in December at UFC Orlando last year, defeating Marc Diakiese in a unanimous decision triumph – which came as just his second win in his last seven Octagon outings.

As for Tony Ferguson, the Oxnard native headlined UFC 279 back in September of last year against promotional veteran and common-foe, Nate Diaz, suffering an eventual fourth round guillotine choke submission defeat. The loss came as Ferguson’s fifth consecutively following a division-best run of 12 straight wins at lightweight.

Michael Johson previously offered to rematch Tony Ferguson

Matching with Johnson back in May 2012, Ferguson suffered a fractured forearm during their UFC Fight Night East Rutherford clash, en route to an eventual unanimous decision loss.

However, earlier this week, Johnson once more reached out to California veteran, Ferguson – this time to criticize his striking.

“Too bad your boxing is (garbage can emojis),” Michael Johnson tweeted in response to Tony Ferguson.

Over the course of his lightweight tenure with the promotion, Johnson has landed victories over former interim titleholders, Ferguson, as well as Dustin Poirier – the latter of which with a first round KO in 2016, as well as perennial contenders, Edson Barboza, Joe Lauzon, and Melvin Guillard.
