Conor McGregor’s teammate was more than willing to make his prediction for the upcoming showdown against Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Road To The Octagon

McGregor’s legal troubles are behind him after he agreed to a plea deal. Now, he can focus his attention on fighting inside of the Octagon.

That deal will see him have a record of guilty of disorderly conduct charge and do five days of community service. Also, he must do anger management classes and have to pay restitution for the damage to the bus that he attacked.

Not only are fight fans relieved but UFC officials as well to see him fighting once again. This is due to the fact that that he hasn’t fought in close to one year. He hasn’t been seen inside of the Octagon under the UFC banner in nearly two years.

Conor McGregor’s Teammate Thoughts

James Gallagher, who is a teammate of McGregor, is making a bold prediction about the upcoming fight ahead of UFC 229. The Bellator star went on record by stating that he believes McGregor will capitalize on the mistakes that are made by the UFC champ.

“He’s going to get stiffened in about a minute-and-a-half,” Gallagher told MMAjunkie. “He’s going to rush in and try to get ahold of Conor,” Gallagher said. “You can’t fire sloppy shots to try to close the distance. He’ll take one clean shot on the chin, and he’ll hit the floor.”

Gallagher is keeping busy as he is slated to fight Ricky Bandejas at the upcoming Bellator 204 event.

This show goes down on Friday, August 17, 2018 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The preliminary card will air online at 7:00 pm EST while the main card will air on Paramount Network at 9:00 PM EST. Darrion Caldwell vs. Noad Lahat in a featherweight bout will headline this event.

Quote: Conor McGregor Is One Of Most Underrated UFC Fighters

Conor McGregor is also the biggest pay-per-view draws that the UFC has.

Conor McGregor is obviously the biggest pay-per-view draw that the UFC has these days as he tops the list with stars like Georges St-Pierre and Brock Lesnar following him.

With that said, there are some who believe that McGregor is booked into these big fights due to his trash talk and not necessarily because of his skills. But UFC President Dana White would disagree with that.

Dana White Comments

White went on record by stating in a recent interview that he thinks the former UFC UFC lightweight and featherweight champion has not been given proper respect as a fighter.

“It’s funny to say this because of how popular he is and what a huge star he is. But I think Conor McGregor is one of the most underrated fighters in the UFC,” White said on UFC Unfiltered (transcript courtesy of Bloody Elbow).

“Every time Conor McGregor comes out to fight somebody new and it’s a wrestler or it’s whatever. This is the fight that Conor is going to lose. He said that he would knock out Jose Aldo the way he did it. He said he would do it in the first round.”

The Fight Involving Conor McGregor

Conor McGregor is slated to challenge Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight title at the UFC 229 pay-per-view event. This marks his first fight under the promotion’s banner since 2016 where he beat Eddie Alvarez to win the strap at the UFC 205 show.

White continued by stating, “A lot of people picked him to lose to Eddie Alvarez because of Eddie Alvarez’s style and wrestling. Look how he looked there. Leading up to the fight when he fought Chad Mendes. Chad Mendes is a wrestler, everybody believed that he would do that.

Then after [Conor] won everybody said that Chad Mendes didn’t have enough time to train for it. The list goes on and on.”

The UFC 229 pay-per-view event is slated to take place on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The main card will air on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET while the preliminary card will air on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET and the promotion’s streaming service, UFC Fight Pass.

MMA fans will be excited to learn that Michelle Waterson returns at UFC 229.

Fan favorite “Karate Hottie” will face fellow top strawweight Felice Herrig on the growing October 6 card from Las Vegas. UFC 229 has been tabbed as the most anticipated UFC event of the year thanks to its Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor main event.

No. 7-ranked Waterson recently got back into the win column by defeating Courtney Casey on UFC on FOX 29 this April. No. 8 Herrig most recently saw a four-fight win streak end in a split decision loss to Karolina Kowalkiewicz at April’s UFC 223, therefore stalling her hoped-for contendership.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal first reported the bout. Three other solid fights were also reported for the card. Veteran light heavyweight Ovince Saint Preux will face prospect Alex Reyes. Lina Lansberg will meet Yana Kunitskaya at women’s bantamweight and Ryan LaFlare will face Tony Martin at welterweight.

Saint Preux is coming off a submission win over Tyson Pedro this June. The veteran has won four out of his last five UFC bouts. Reyes is one of the division’s hottest prospects because he has finished all three of his UFC matches.

Lansberg and Kunitskaya share the unfortunate distinction of having been victims of UFC women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg. The two women will compete at 135 pounds for this event.

LaFlare has won three of his last four, while Martin has won four of his last five. The fight promises to be a closely matched affair due to their recent runs.

UFC 229 will go down October 6, 2018, from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The blockbuster Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor lightweight title fight could break pay-per-view records due to the amount of hype involved.
