I’m sure you’re sick of hearing the endless rumors and talks regarding a potential return to action for former longtime UFC welterweight champion Georges “Rush” St. Pierre, and some of you may have completely ruled out the possibility.

However, it could be argued that a comeback has never been more realistic, as St. Pierre recently said that he had been in talks with the UFC, although a few obstacles still need to be cleared up.

Many of you likely won’t believe it until you see it, but it’s interesting to speculate on if and when “Rush” will re-enter the Octagon, and whom he may face if he ever does.

UFC 200 appeared to be a suitable landing spot for the Canadian star, but the card has filled up relatively fast, leading the UFC’s debut at Madison Square Garden in November to be a very realistic event for St. Pierre to return at. As for whom he could fight, GSP also recently said that he’s simply interested in ‘big’ fights rather than title fights.

Nonetheless, a clash with reigning champion “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler would be massive, to say the least. While this potential title fight would make sense from a promotional standpoint, it may not be St. Pierre’s best choice.

Let’s take a look at five reasons why Lawler would dust St. Pierre if the two were to ever meet.

Well, the mass chaos surrounding July 9’s blockbuster UFC 200 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas has been surreal and even somewhat overwhelming over the last week, to say the least.

After a main event change saw featherweight champion Conor McGregor pulled from his scheduled rematch with Nate Diaz and replaced by the long-awaited grudge match between 205-pound champion Daniel Cormier and ex-titleholder Jon Jones, it appears as if UFC 200 is mostly set in stone – or at least the top half of the main card is.

Despite the monumental card being headlined by three title fights, the buzz surrounding UFC 200 just doesn’t seem to be there yet.

The card is obviously stacked with top-tier talent, which leads us to beg the question as to why it may not be garnering the attention we had anticipated.

Could fans have been hoping for too much? Or perhaps, could it be that UFC 200 is being compared too much to 2009’s mega UFC 100 card?

With those theories presented, another interesting question arises: how does UFC 200 compare to UFC 100? Let’s take a look:

The Octagon has long been deemed as the ultimate proving ground for mixed martial artists, and the upcoming UFC 197 event which is slated for this Saturday (April 23, 2016) will serve as no different.

The UFC has stacked the deck with this event, as it’s set to be headlined by back to back title fights with all eyes obviously landing on the highly anticipated return of reigning pound-for-pound king and former light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones, a man who’s spent the last year and a half on the sidelines dealing with legal issues.

After being involved in a hit and run accident last April in his home of New Mexico, “Bones” was arrested on felony charges and stripped of his long-held 205 pound strap.

Although he won’t get the chance to recapture his title against his arch nemesis and former champion Daniel Cormier like he was scheduled to, Jones will get the chance to claim an interim title against No. 6-ranked Ovince St. Preux.

With that being said, let’s take a look at Jones and five other fighters in desperate need of a win at UFC 197:

A plethora of injuries and an upset loss later and Velasquez finds himself at a crossroads, having only competed once since October 2013.

The former champion is set to face off with No. 7-ranked Travis Browne at July 9’s UFC 200 in a bout that if won, could launch Velasquez back into title contention.

His accomplishments inside of the cage can never be looked down upon, and while anything can happen in the insane sport called MMA, let’s take a look at five reasons why Velasquez will never maintain UFC gold again.
