At the time of publication, the organization have yet to confirm the weight class both Silva and Sonnen will compete in, nor the limit of rounds they will face-off under in the ring, and whether or not the bout would be a professional match, or an exhibition outing.

Twice competing against each other under the banner of the above-mentioned, UFC, Brazilian phenom, Silva scored a stunning rallying submission win over title challenger, Sonnen back in 2010 at UFC 117, slapping on a late fifth round triangle choke win in a bout he was set to lose on the judge’s scorecards.

Who wins in a trilogy fight: Anderson Silva or Chael Sonnen?

Is He Back? McGregor Nearly Destroys Sparring Partner

Conor McGregor’s record-breaking comeback fight is just six weeks away and the former UFC double champion is ramping up his efforts in training. That’s probably why “Notorious” nearly destroyed a teammate during a recent sparring session.

It’s been almost three years since the last time fight fans saw McGregor step foot inside of the Octagon. That was at UFC 264 all the way back in July 2021. McGregor was fighting Dustin Poirier for the third time and ended up breaking his leg towards the end of the first round. “Notorious” has been on the mend and making movies every since, but is finally ready to rejoin the UFC ranks.

Luckily, McGregor has a friendly matchup for his return. The UFC superstar will be pitted against a heavy-handed Michael Chandler, who prefers to stand-and-bang despite possessing elite-level wrestling. As long as Chandler doesn’t try to grapple McGregor their UFC 303 main event this June will be tailored for “Notorious” to win in dramatic fashion. That’s if McGregor can return to form after a three-year layoff from fighting.

As of right now, it appears that McGregor is gearing up for a memorable return to action. During recent sparring footage that the Irishman released on social media, McGregor can be seen delivering one of his patented left counter shots. The punch caught his sparring partner clean and nearly took his head off. It was like a blast from the past.

Check it out below:

What do you think, Maniacs? Is this proof that McGregor is getting back to form ahead of UFC 303 or are we reading too much into a four-second sparring clip?

Sound off!

UFC Vegas 92 went down last night (Sat., May 18, 2024) inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, which saw Lerone Murphy score perhaps the biggest wins of his career, defeating long-time veteran, Edson Barboza, via decision (recap here). In the co-main event, Khaos Williams stopped Carlston Harris in the second round via strikes, while Adrian Yanez scored a huge knockout win over Vinicius Salvador.

Winner: Lerone Murphy
Who He Should Face Next: Josh Emmett

Six straight wins and defeating the No. 12 ranked Featherweight on the planet should be good enough to earn a ranking spot, and that’s just where Murphy will find himself come next week. A fight against Emmett sounds good. Emmett snapped his two-fight losing streak in his previous outing by absolutely annihilating Bryce Mitchell in the very first round (see the scary scene here). This will be a good, tough test for Murphy, and a win could expedite his way up the division.

UFC Fight Night: Williams v Harris

Winner: Khaos Williams
Who He Should Face Next: Max Griffin

Williams secured his second straight win with a knockout victory over Carlston Harris to push him to 4-1 in his last five fights. He is making great strides toward the Top 15, and a showdown (and win) over Max Griffin could help his case further. Griffin has been competing inside the Octagon for eight years now and is a respectable 5-2 in his last seven outings.

UFC Fight Night: Gorimbo v Brahimaj
Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC via Getty Images

Winner: Themba Gorimbo
Who He Should Face Next: Price vs. Morono winner

Gorimbo secured a big win for himself after a rough lead-in to his fight against Ramiz Brahimaj (read all about it here). Gorimbo is now on a three-fight win streak after coming up short in his Octagon debut, and a fight against an established veteran could be on the horizon. Niko Price and Alex Morono are set to throw down at UFC 302 on June 1, 2024, and the winner of that fight could be a great test for Gorimbo.

UFC Fight Night: Yanez v Salvador
Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC via Getty Images

Winner: Adrian Yanez
Who He Should Face Next: Pedro Munhoz

While he may have been robbed of an extra $50,000 at UFC Vegas 92, Yanez is smiling big after managing to snap his two-fight win streak following his destruction of Vinicius Salvador. He could be staring at a Top 15 spot come next week, and a potential pairing against Munhoz, who is currently holding down the last spot in the division. Munhoz is a legitimate, established veteran who has faced some of the best the promotion has to offer, but he has seen better days, losing back-to-back fights against Marlon Vera and Kyler Phillips.

UFC Fight Night: Pinheiro v Hill
Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC via Getty Images

Winner: Angela Hill
Who She Should Face Next: Amanda Ribas

Hill earned her first-ever submission win, defeating Luana Pinheiro via guillotine and banking an extra $50,000 in the process. The No. 12-ranked Strawweight is 4-1 in her last five fights and is trending toward a Top 10 spot once again. I would like to see her matched up against Ribas next. While the Brazilian star is coming off a tough loss to former champion, Rose Namajunas, she is ranked No. 8 and would be a good test for “Overkill.” If Hill can take her out, she will definitely enter the Top 10.
