UFC officials announced on Friday that the planned co-main event for UFC on FOX 20 between Glover Teixeira and Anthony Johnson has been scrapped.
The new co-main event will be lightweights Gilbert Melendez and Edson Barboza, which also opens a spot on the main card for Bojan Mihajlovic-Francis Ngannou and Felice Herrig-Kailin Curran.
Teixeira-Johnson is expected to be re-booked in the near future. Johnson was forced out due to a serious family matter.

While nothing has been made official by the UFC concerning Teixeira or his scheduled opponent, Anthony Johnson, MMA Fighting is reporting that the Brazilian has now withdrawn from the event.
Johnson was reported to be out due to an injury earlier this month.
“I’m prepared, and I spent a lot of money bringing guys from Brazil to help me,” Teixeira said. “For sure, I’d like to stay on the card.”
The bout was set to possibly determine the next contender to the light heavyweight title on July 23 from Chicago. The card features Holly Holm vs. Valentina Shevchenko.

According to a report at MMAFighting.com, UFC Light Heavyweight contender Anthony “Rumble” Johnson has pulled out of his scheduled fight against Glover Teixeira at the upcoming UFC On FOX 20 event.
Johnson, who was set to come into what was a striking fans dream match against Teixeira fresh off of two consecutive knockout victories over Ryan Bader and Jimi Manuwa, pulled out of the fight due to undisclosed reasons. Teixeira was coming into the fight off of finishes of Rashad Evans, Patrick Cummins and Ovince Saint Preux.
UFC On FOX 20 is scheduled to take place on July 23, 2016 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Unfortunate news has come to fruition earlier today (June 18, 2016), as MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani has reported that highly-ranked light heavyweight contender Anthony “Rumble” Johnson was forced out of his upcoming bout with fellow former title challenger Glover Teixeira which was slated for July 23, 2016.
Helwani took to his official Twitter account to break the news:
Anthony Johnson is out of the 7/23 fight against Glover Teixeira, per sources. More to come shortly on @MMAFighting.

After suffering a submission loss to reigning champion Daniel Cormier in April 2015, Johnson has since bounced back with back-to-back knockout victories over the likes of Jimi Manuwa and previously surging contender Ryan Bader. “Rumble” is widely considered to be one of the most feared strikers in mixed martial arts (MMA).
Teixeira also went through a rough patch, dropping two straight decisions to then champion Jon Jones and Phil Davis in 2014. The Brazilian slugger has since rebounded in an impressive way, scoring three straight stoppage victories Ovince Saint Preux, Patrick Cummins, and most recently former champion Rashad Evans.
A replacement opponent has yet to be named.
