Jake Paul

On October 29th, ‘The Problem Child’ Jake Paul will face his toughest test to date when he meets former UFC middleweight champion and all-time great, Anderson Silva.

Airing live on Showtime pay-per-view, the fight will emanate from Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona. it will be an eight-round bout fought at 187 pounds as originally reported by MMA journalist Ariel Helwani. Paul, who is riding a five-fight win streak, will attempt to add another former UFC titleholder to his resume after having already defeated former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley on two separate occasions.

Recently, ESNEWS on YouTube caught up with tenured UFC star Nick Diaz who gave his brief, but clear predictions for how he sees things going when ‘The Spider’ goes head-to-head with the social media star turned professional boxer.

“I don’t see why Anderson shouldn’t beat him,” Diaz said. “Depends on who’s working [with] Jake Paul.”

The 47-year-old Silva finished his mixed martial arts career with a record of 34-11 with one no-contest. At his peak, he defended the UFC middleweight championship a record 10 times during an impressive 17-fight win streak.

On the flip side, Jake Paul will be looking to get his sixth straight win though none of his previous victories have come against legitimate professional boxers. While Silva himself is not a professional boxer, many within the combat sports community are praising Jake Paul for taking a fight with one of the most decorated strikers in MMA history.

Nate Diaz Gives His Thoughts on Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva

Nick Diaz’s brother Nate Diaz has also given his thoughts on the upcoming showdown between Jake Paul and Anderson Silva. While speaking to The Mirror, the younger Diaz didn’t necessarily give his prediction for the bout but believes it would be foolish to count out Anderson Silva because of his age.

“They considered him the GOAT in the UFC for a long time, you know? There was no appreciation for that and I thought that was stupid. I think they’d be stupid if they’re trying to count him [Silva] out at all in this fight, but I also see that Jake Paul could win or do well too,” Diaz said. “[He’s] young, motivated, strong, inspired to box. So, I think it makes for an interesting fight.”

Nate Diaz is coming off of what many believe was his final appearance in the UFC after 15 years with the promotion. Originally scheduled to face Khamzat Chimaev in the evening’s main event, a last-minute shake-up had the ‘Stockton Samurai’ meeting fellow fan favorite Tony Ferguson in the UFC 279 headliner. Diaz scored a fourth-round submission victory, his first win by tap-out since facing Conor McGregor at UFC 196 in 2016.

Tyron Woodley

Tyron Woodley once competed and beat some of the best athletes within the UFC, dominating his opponents in the welterweight division. Reigning supreme over the rest of the division Woodley was the 170-pound champion from 2016-2019.

During his time with the promotion, Woodley would take the belt from Robbie Lawler at UFC 201 before going on to make three successful defences against the likes of Stephen Thompson, Demian Maia, and finally Darren Till.

Since retiring from the sport Woodley has ventured into multiple areas that the sports and entertainment world have to offer. Having made appearances in the Netflix series Cobra Kai that aspect of his life has been going extremely well. However, in his next sporting adventure, we cannot say the same.

Tyron Woodley fell short in his attempt to step into the world of Boxing when he faced YouTube boxer, Jake Paul. Woodley fell short via decision the first time round before being brutally knocked out in the pair’s second meeting.

Tyron Woodley is ready to silence his critics in a potential boxing matchup with KSI

Now it seems following his fall from grace people have forgotten just exactly who Tyron Woodley is, and with rumours circulating that ‘The Chosen One’ will be taking on internet sensation KSI in his next boxing bout the former welterweight champion is looking forward to silencing all his critics.

“I’m not gonna let no f–king YouTuber, do-tuber, nobody makes it seem as if I’m not the same type of fighter. I’m not the same guy.”

“Based on one mistake, it only takes one there’s been many guys on the other end that took that one mistake against me, and they lights got shut out. Robbie dropped his hands at the wrong time. Dong Hyun Kim caught a spinning back fist right, and Darren Till thought he was gonna bully me but I bullied him, right, so at the end of the day, KSI, I like that he’s energetic, he’s all into it, he’s all over the place, but he’s gonna get f–ked up playing around with me.” Woodley told TMZ Sport in a recent interview.  (Transcribed by MiddleEasy)

Do you feel Tyron Woodley would beat KSI should the pair enter the boxing ring together?

Mike Perry has reacted to BKFC suggesting he face off against Nate Diaz, who recently became a free agent after fighting out his UFC contract.

Nate Diaz‘s departure from the UFC took place at UFC 279, which was embroiled in one of the most chaotic fight weeks in UFC history. Diaz was initially set to face off against undefeated surging contender Khamzat Chimaev. However, after ‘Borz’ missed weight by a significant margin, Diaz was rebooked to fight former UFC lightweight interim title holder, Tony Ferguson.

Whilst neither Diaz nor Ferguson is in the prime of their careers anymore, the two put on an entertaining main event bout, with Diaz being crowned the victor after locking up a submission in the fourth round. In the aftermath of the fight, Diaz spoke with Joe Rogan, who asked him what his future now holds.

Diaz vowed to ‘go and conquer another sport,’ and then later return to MMA. Whilst many presume he will now box Jake Paul, the idea of a potential bare-knuckle boxing match was floated by BKFC, who pushed the idea of a Nate Diaz vs. former UFC welterweight Mike Perry matchup.

Mike Perry would be quick to comment on this, stating the following on Twitter:

“Now is my time to make noise. I have no excuses so I’m calling out all the best fights the fans can be interested in. I want to make waves. Been fighting my whole life and I always will no matter what.”

Wanderlei Silva

Former PRIDE FC champion and UFC alum, Wanderlei Silva recently confirmed his retirement from professional mixed martial arts, however, has announced plans to pursue professional boxing – as well as poking barbs at compatriot and past opponent, Vitor Belfort.

Silva, a former undisputed middleweight champion under the PRIDE FC banner, as well as the 2003 middleweight Grand Prix victor, recently called time on his professional mixed martial arts career with immediate effect, having last competed in a fourth fight against Quinton Jackson under the Bellator banner back in 2018.

Revered as one of the most lethal and devastating knockout artists in the sport’s history, Silva holds the record for the most wins, knockouts, title defenses, and the longest streak of victories under the PRIDE FC banner.

Wanderlei Silva blasts Vitor Belfort for boxing Evander Holyfield last year

Competing under the scrutiny of the UFC from 2007 until 2013 in his second tenure, the Curitiba striker announced his intentions to compete in professional boxing next – eyeing former world champions, as well as criticizing fellow Brazilian, Belfort’s knockout win over Evander Holyfield last year.

“I would like to fight a boxer, right?” Wanderlei Silva told MMA Fighting’s Trocacao Franca podcast with Guilherme Cruz. “I always liked to do it in their game. Even when I was training, I liked to do Jiu-Jitsu with Jiu-Jitsu guys and wrestle wrestlers. I like to test myself.”

“I would like to box one of the good guys, maybe a former world champion, something like that,” Wanderlei Silva explained. “That would be interesting. But I don’t want to fight an old man like our friend (Vitor Belfort) did, fighting someone who’s almost 70. It has to be someone younger, right? To fight an old man and beat them quickly is something other type of fighters do. I won’t do that. I wanna someone good.”

Headline a Triller Fight Club event against the 59-year-old former world champion, Holyfield last year, Belfort scored a brutally one-sided first round knockout win.

Sharing the Octagon all the way back at UFC Brazil in 1998, Silva suffered a first round knockout loss to Belfort inside just 44-seconds in Sao Paulo.

Floyd Mayweather is looking for more exhibition fights against YouTube celebs. The retired boxer has his eyes on YouTuber Deji Olatunji who is the brother of KSI and is 1-3 in the ring.

The 50-0 former world champion boxer Floyd Mayweather is reportedly looking to fight Deji in Dubai in November in an exhibition bout. Since officially retiring ‘Money’ has faced fighters such as kickboxing star Tenshin Nasukawa, former UFC Champion Conor McGregor, YouTuber Logan Paul, and others. Now, he is targeting Deji.

Deji is one of the most influential UK social media creators with over 10 million followers on YouTube alone. Earlier this year, Deji was able to earn his first victory in the ring when he stopped Fousey via TKO. Fousey is also a YouTuber. At this same event, named MF & Dazn X Series 1, Deji’s brother KSI boxed and won against two individuals on the same night.

This bout will add to ‘Money’ Mayweather’s busy upcoming schedule. The 45-year-old boxer earned a recent win against his former sparring partner Don Moore in May of this year. The US-born athlete will also be facing RIZIN superstar Mikurua Asakura on September 25. Additionally, Floyd Mayweather will now be looking to add another exhibition match, facing Deji in November.

Mikurua Asakura is a former Rizin Featherweight Champion and has won half of his MMA fights by way of KO/TKO. This fighter has no professional boxing experience.

Floyd Mayweather vs Deji reaction

Most combat sports fans seem unimpressed with the Floyd Mayweather vs Deji matchup. On the KSI Subreddit, user ‘TheDavinci1998’ commented:

“What are we expecting here realistically? Logan won 1 round out of 12 against Floyd if we’re feeling generous and he’s objectively better than Deji. Given Deji’s stamina, I think it is not going to be longer than 8 rounds and he won’t be able to have his own.”

User oOzonee added:

“That’s the most boring thing ever. At least Logan could potentially knock him out considering how big he is. Deji vs Floyd is a waste of time and I doubt people actually care. I would care more if he fought Salt Papi or Joe Weller.”

On Twitter, user Osgood said:

“Deji Mayweather would literally be the DUMEBST fight of all time. Have they mistaked Deji as someone else? At least with Logan hes a big guy and okay MAYBE in some other universe he could KO floyd. But DEJI!?!? They could fight 10 matches in a night and Floyds winning all 10 EASY.”

The fight announcement story was initially reported by Mirror Fighting.
