After nearly five years away from the sport, former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar made his triumphant return to fighting in the co-main event of UFC 200 (July 9, 2016) in Las Vegas, scoring a dominant decision victory over legendary slugger Mark Hunt. Lesnar looked better than ever in his return, although it may have been too good to be true, as “The Beast” was notified by USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) of a potential anti-doping violation shortly after the fight.

Little details regarding the situation have been released since, although it has been made clear that Lesnar tested positive on two different occasions for what is thought to be an anti-estrogen agent. Today (August 23, 2016), however, Lesnar was given a temporary suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) which serves as the first step in his adjudication process according to MMAFighting.com. The former champion will likely take part in a formal hearing in front of the commission at a later date.

“The Beast”, although recently leaving the door open for a potential Octagon return, is potentially facing a two-year suspension from both USADA and the NSAC, as well as possible fines from the commission. Lesnar, who owns a 6-3 professional mixed martial arts record, would likely end his fighting career if he receives a two-year suspension given the fact that he is currently 39 years of age.

Many had felt as if this was a dangerous challenge for Lesnar, but “The Beast” prevailed and took home a dominant decision victory. That victory was quickly plagued, however, as Lesnar was notified by USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) of a potential anti-doping violation.

Few details have been released regarding the test since, but Lesnar could be thrown back to the sidelines for two years if the situation doesn’t play out in his favor. With that being said, the former titleholder has decided to put his focus back on his professional wrestling career for the time being, although he did leave the door open for a potential return to the Octagon (Via TMZ):

“I’ve got a few challenges to overcome before I can get there. I don’t know. For right now, I’m gonna focus on my WWE career. I wanted to step back into the Octagon and avenge my loss against diverticulitis. Sunday (August 21, 2016) I’m facing Randy Orton at Summerslam and that’s really all that’s on my mind. To my fans that watch me in the Octagon, I thank them for their support. This has been a bumpy road. I’m gonna get through this alright. And there will be a day, maybe, that they’ll see me back in the Octagon.”

Lesnar holds a 6-3 professional MMA record which includes victories over Randy Couture, Shane Carwin, Frank Mir, and Hunt. Would you like to see the ex-heavyweight king once again return to the world’s largest mixed martial arts promotion?

After five years away from the Octagon, former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar made his highly-anticipated return to action in the co-main event of last weekend’s (July 9, 2016) UFC 200 from Las Vegas, Nevada. Lesnar put on an impressive performance, scoring a somewhat dominant decision victory over legendary knockout artist Mark “The Super Samoan” Hunt.

Despite launching himself back into the heavyweight top 10, Lesnar’s future with the UFC is currently unclear. At the UFC 200 post-fight press conference, “The Beast” left the door wide open for an Octagon return, but he’s also still under contract with the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment). In fact, he’ll be competing for the professional wrestling organization later this summer at Summerslam.

Along with his WWE contract, however, Lesnar is indeed still under contract with the UFC according to a report from MMAFighting.com. With that being said, “The Beast” remains subject to USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) drug testing per company spokesperson Ryan Madden:

“To my knowledge, Brock Lesnar has not notified USADA of his retirement from the UFC,” Madden said. “Therefore, he remains subject to USADA testing and the UFC anti-doping policy.”

Prior to his bout with Hunt, Lesnar drew some criticism regarding drug testing, as he was granted an exception by the UFC. Typically when a fighter is making a return, he or she is subject to four months of drug testing before he or she can compete. Lesnar, however, announced his return just weeks before UFC 200 and was excused from this rule.

Despite the criticism, however, “The Beast” has never failed a drug test. His physique is simply unlike that of many others which has caused the masses to speculate on this matter. In the end, however, it appears as if Lesnar competing in the UFC again could be very possible.

If he indeed decides to stick around, who would you like to see the former champion face off with next?

After nearly five years away from the sport, former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar made his triumphant return to action in the co-main event of last weekend’s (July 9, 2016) UFC 200 from Las Vegas, Nevada. Ending his previous UFC tenure due to a brutal battle with Diverticulitis, Lesnar claimed that he was healthy and rejuvenated, and he appeared to be just that.

Taking on legendary knockout artist Mark Hunt, Lesnar had a difficult task on his hands, and many were counting him out. However, “The Beast” coasted to a somewhat dominant unanimous decision victory, looking fantastic in the process.

In the aftermath of the win, Lesnar left a door open for a possible future with the UFC despite his return being previously billed as a ‘one off’ fight given his current contract with WWE. If he does indeed decide to stick around, Lesnar, now ranked at No. 8 in the heavyweight division, will likely be in line for a huge fight.

Let’s take a look at three possible fights for “The Beast” to take next:

The UFC went through some hectic times last week. The last seven days have featured three fight cards, one major drug test failure, and the changing of hands of two titles. In terms of fights, the week was capped off by the monumental UFC 200 card (July 9, 2016), but the action hasn’t stopped as it was announced earlier today (July 11, 2016) that the promotion had actually been sold for a record setting $4 billion.

Throughout all the chaos, however, the show must go on, and the latest UFC rankings update has been released with some key changes. Most notably, former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones, a man many consider to be the greatest fighter of all-time, has lost his spot atop the pound-for-pound list.

Late last week, it was announced that Jones had been flagged by USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) for a possible anti-doping violation. He was then forced out of his scheduled UFC 200 main event bout with Daniel Cormier just days prior. Jones now sits at No. 3 on the list and has been replaced by dominant flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson.

Also, former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar, who made his return to action after nearly five years away from the Octagon by beating Mark Hunt at UFC 200, has entered the rankings. “The Beast” now sits at No. 8.
