The most talked about topic over the last year has been the crossover fight that will see boxing legend Floyd Mayweather taking on UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor. Now, the date is set (August 26th) and everyone can look forward to it.

The fight, which both has haters and supporters, is currently being projected to break the pay-per-view record for sales, surpassing Mayweather’s fight with Manny Pacquiao which pulled in an estimated 4.4 million buys. It won’t be an easy task, but a task that is doable. Although this will be a mega payday for McGregor, there is some concern about his future in the UFC.

The discussion has been based in part on previous statements by McGregor as well as pure speculation, that McGregor will walk away from the fight game after this boxing match. If he does, then the UFC is going to hurt big time as McGregor is their top draw. According to UFC President Dana White, he isn’t worried about it because he’s “pretty confident” McGregor will return to defend his title later this year.

McGregor’s good friend and training partner, Dillon Danis, recently did an interview with TMZ Sports and during the interview, he stated that he thinks that McGregor will have plenty of options after August. He also thinks that McGregor won’t be retiring from MMA because the sport is his passion.

“He can do what he wants. He’s the one that they’re all trying to get a fight with, in boxing and in MMA. So he has his options. MMA is his passion so I would think he’d go back to that but he has the option. . . At the end of the day, we’re all competitors. But whatever he wants to do, he has options.”

Danis, who recently signed a deal with Bellator MMA, is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and former world champion at the brown belt level. However, his skills won’t help McGregor for this training camp as he has no striking experience. Danis is confident not only in McGregor’s ability to compete with a great boxer but to dominate him.

“I don’t think he’ll hang with him, I think he knocks [Mayweather] out. 100 percent. I believe in him, Danis said (transcript courtesy of MMA Fighting). I think it [will be] a little more dragged out [than the Jose Aldo first-round knockout]. Mayweather’s a little bit better at avoiding the shots, so I think maybe under six [rounds].”

After months and months of speculation, it was finally announced last week that former pound-for-pound king and former five division world champion Floyd “Money” Mayweather would be coming out of retirement to take on reigning UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor on August 26, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The bout will be 12 rounds and it will be contested at 154 pounds.

In the Octagon, McGregor is most known for his striking, and to be more specific, the power in which he possesses in his hands. Due to the fact that he has never competed in a professional boxing match, however, many are giving McGregor a slim chance against Mayweather, a man many consider to be the best boxer of his generation. In fact, some have argued that McGregor will have difficulty even landing on “Money”, a defensive genius.

One man, however, is convinced that the Irishman will knockout Mayweather. Recently speaking on the topic, Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace and McGregor teammate Dillon Danis, who has quickly become one of the most outspoken voices in combat sports, said that McGregor will ‘100-percent’ finish Mayweather:

“I don’t think he’ll hang with him, I think he will knock him out, 100-percent. It will be a bit more dragged out (than one round), Mayweather is a bit more better at avoiding the shots (than Jose Aldo), so I think maybe under six,” Danis told TMZ Sports.

This is certainly a bold claim, as Mayweather possesses a perfect 49-0 professional record. Not only has he never been defeated or knocked out, but “Money” has never been knocked down, nor has he ever seriously been hurt inside the squared circle, so it’d be hard to imagine a fighter making his professional debut knocking him out.

Anything can happen in a fight, however, and McGregor, as always, is highly confident in his chances. The “Notorious” one hasn’t competed since last November when he brutally knocked out Eddie Alvarez in the main event of UFC 205 from the famed Madison Square Garden in New York City to become the promotion’s lightweight champion. Since then, he has been out of action due to the birth of his first child, but he has also spent much of his time over the last few months campaigning for this fight against Mayweather.

“Money”, on the other hand, hasn’t stepped into the ring since Sept. 2015 when he scored a dominant one-sided decision victory over Andre Berto. He announced his retirement after the bout, but made it clear earlier this year that he would be willing to come out of retirement, but only to fight McGregor.

What do you make of Danis’ comments?

Dillon Danis may be gaining a bunch of headlines in the mixed martial arts world, but apparently that’s come at the cost of his longtime head coach Marcelo Garcia.

In a surprising move, Garcia revealed on Thursday that Danis and fellow student Mansher Khera had been indefinitely suspended from his New York home gym. The famed Brazilian jiu-jitsu coach also released a statement on his official Youtube page yesterday, noting that his students had become too focused on fame and social media:

“I realize people was focused just on social media, was focused on other stuff that everyone is aware about — fame, stuff like that. And that really forced me to take a decision.”

Garcia elaborated on the decision further, focusing on his beliefs that some of his top students had forced him to make a tough decision when they didn’t echo the same values he tried to convey in training:

“I wish my black belts were doing the best they can to follow the examples that take people to a better place. That didn’t happen, and I felt even got worst each time I take a week off, something happen. I take a weekend off, something else happened.

“It’s really hard for me to come home — because this [the gym] is my home — and to see they don’t appreciate the same values that I have, they’re not being the example I want people here to have.”

Danis has recently made a ton of headlines with his largely outlandish trash talk, highlighted by him saying he’s already the ‘highest paid fighter in Bellator’ and that the upcoming Bellator 180 pay-per-view (PPV) ‘is not going to sell without him’ despite the fact that has no professional MMA bouts to his name.

Garcelo is obviously a much more old-school, warrior code-focused teacher, and trash talk like that clearly doesn’t fly in his highly honored school.

But with MMA on the horizon and stacks of cash to make, something seems like Danis might not be all that concerned with the indefinite suspension. Should he be?
