Jake Paul continues to take the boxing world by storm, and the YouTube sensation has revealed a shortlist of who could be next for him between the ropes.
In his most recent outing, Jake Paul dismantled former UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley in spectacular fashion. The anticipation pursues to grow on who Paul will face next. Several notable names have been thrown in that hat, but nothing is locked in as of yet.
In a recent interview with Teddy Atlas, Jake Paul shortlisted six potential opponents that are on his radar for the next bout.
Jake Paul Reveals Six-Man Shortlist
“Floyd Mayweather, Oscar De La Hoya, Anderson Silva, Michael Bisping, Tommy Fury or Sonny-Bill Williams out of Australia. There’s a lot of people on the hit-list and some other names that we’re talking to. Just trying to pick the biggest opponent.
“Everyone I’ve fought I’ve carried the promotion, nobody has matched my star power so I’m looking for someone who can match my star power – we might fight in Australia, America or the UAE.”
Despite boxing being Paul’s chosen craft, the 25-year-old is banking on himself to transition to mixed martial arts. ‘The Problem Child’ believes UFC President Dana White would be open to having him compete under the UFC banner. White and Paul have had previous back and forths, but the UFC boss is not stupid when it comes to intelligent business. It’s a move that the organisation could very well gain from.
Paul Eager on Transitioning to MMA
“I think it’s timing and proving myself more in the boxing side of things, and pretty soon the UFC and the MMA side, it’ll be undeniable for me to get into the Octagon, or fight for one of these other organizations against a big name. So I think it’s all a timing thing and Dana [White] seems to be open to it. Right,” Paul said on Teddy Atlas’ podcast.
“He said on my brother’s podcast he might let Logan fight in the UFC and I think he’s coming around to me and starting to see what I’m about and what I actually stand for. Obviously, he doesn’t like me harping on the fighter pay side of things and sort of harming his business, and being a shareholder in Endeavor and pushing on the investment side of things. There’s definitely a feud there, so we’ll see what happens.”
With White open to having one Paul brother in Logan try his luck among the best mixed martial artists in the world, there’s no reason to suggest why White would decline Jake’s interest in competing in the UFC. The Paul brothers have made a name for themselves through hard work, dedication and the skill of promotion. Whatever the pair set their mind to, both seem to accomplish the goal.
Paul’s last three wins have come against former MMA champions Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley, and he does have an extensive background in Wrestling. It would be a case of perfecting the craft and mixing the ability to strike and wrestle in the Octagon. A whole different ball game, but one Paul feels confident he would succeed in.
The Cleveland born sits at (5-0) in his boxing career, with four of those victories becoming viral knockouts. Every outing, Paul finds himself against progressively better opposition, which is smart for his development and growth as a fighter. Still, with success comes critics. Many don’t hold Paul’s skill-set in high regard due to continuing to fight undersized athletes who aren’t professional boxers.
Who do you believe will be the next fighter to stand across the ring from Jake Paul, and do you believe we will see him transition to MMA?

Mayweather and Paul competed in a boxing exhibition in Miami, FL last year. It was one of the most-watched boxing events of 2021, despite a formal winner not being declared.
The bout between Mayweather and Paul wasn’t officially sanctioned due to the large physical discrepancy between the two of them. The result of the bout was left in the eyes and minds of the viewers.
While Mayweather and Paul seemed to be on amicable terms just minutes after their fight, that has appeared to have fizzled over. Paul has reportedly threatened legal action against Mayweather over an alleged failed payout.
Mayweather has since responded to the allegations during a recent podcast appearance, citing that the issue has to do with pay-per-view revenue.
“I know some of you (who) got the little TMT shirts think that The Money Team’s a real business. It’s not,” Sonnen said of Mayweather. “It’s a bank account that goes one way: Money comes in. They do not have a team. They do not have a staff. They do not have a lease. They do not have obligations. They don’t have debt to service. It’s not a real company. He signed a contract with (The Money Team). That’s a big problem. Big problem for Floyd if he received funds, and he did. And he converted those funds to his own, which it appears that he did.
“So this story is going to be ongoing. But if you are Team Floyd, you’re gonna wanna lawyer up real fast, you’re gonna wanna get a hold of their representation. Before the FB gets called in to look at this, you’re gonna wanna make a deal, and you’re gonna want to pay Logan Paul.”
Mayweather hasn’t competed in professional boxing since his win over former UFC champion Conor McGregor in 2017. He remains adamant about staying retired despite calls for him to return to the ring.
Paul has hinted at a return to boxing in 2022 against fellow YouTube sensation Whindersson Nunes. It’s unclear how the Mayweather/Paul drama will end up playing out in the coming weeks and months.

Former UFC middleweight fighter, Chael Sonnen has recently given his take on the Pauls and Mayweather’s strife.
In accordance with ‘The American Gangster’ the Mayweather brand ‘Money Team’ is not an actual company going on to label it a “bank account that goes one way”.
Speaking on his YouTube show ‘Beyond the Fight’, Sonnen believes ‘Pretty Boy’ is better off getting a lawyer and making a deal with Logan Paul before the FBI starts getting in involved.

Floyd Mayweather Calls For Patience
Despite Logan Paul’s recent allegations in addition to the exhibition fight between the two selling over a reported million pay-per-view buys, Floyd Mayweather, states that this comes with being part of such blockbuster boxing fights.
The 44-year-old, not long ago stated on the ‘Pivot Podcast’ that the “back-end” money for such events comes with time. This was just before he was unable to help himself take a jab back at the YouTube Star.
“To them, that’s real money, and I like the YouTubers. The money on the back-end though, from pay-per-view, that takes a while. Nothing comes right away. I’m still collecting checks from fights seven or eight years ago. They just hate when the table is turned. Be happy with the biggest payday you ever got in your life.”

Mayweather and Paul went toe-to-toe in the boxing ring last summer in an exhibition bout, with the fight going the full distance. The fight wasn’t sanctioned due to the notable physical discrepancy between the two boxers.
Despite the two controversial personalities seeming to end their fight on respectful terms, things have taken a drastic turn in recent weeks. Paul has alleged that Mayweather has failed to pay him the full amount owed for their boxing match.
Paul has gone as far as threatening lawsuits, although nothing has been filed just yet. During a recent appearance on The Pivot Podcast, Mayweather responded to the latest Paul fiasco (h/t The Sun).
“This comes with the territory,” Mayweather said. “To them, that’s real money, and I like the YouTubers. The money on the back end though, from pay-per-view, that takes a while. Nothing comes right away. I’m still collecting checks from fights seven or eight years ago. They just hate when the table is turned. Be happy with the biggest payday you ever got in your life.”
Paul is anticipating a return to the boxing ring later this year, potentially against fellow YouTube star Whindersson Nunes. Paul also previously hinted at a potential faceoff with UFC legend Anderson Silva in the ring.
It appears that Logan Paul won’t be getting a check from Mayweather anytime soon, which could create more tension between the two brash personalities.

Floyd Mayweather called time on his professional career following a 2017 TKO win over Conor McGregor
“He (Floyd Mayweather) really hasn’t (paid Logan Paul),” Jake Paul told the Mirror. “There’s a lawsuit that was opened up last week or two weeks ago. They’re pressuring him both legally and behind-the-scenes, but it’s embarrassing for Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather to not have enough money to pay my brother.”
Competing over the course of 8 rounds, an official victor of the bout was not declared due to the exhibition nature, with Paul competing for the third time in the squared circle following a prior amateur and then professional match with fellow YouTuber and musician, KSI.
To boot, Paul’s friend, fellow podcast host and standup comedian, Andrew Schulz confirmed that Paul had informed him he would be suing Mayweather after he failed to receive payment for his part in the exhibition boxing match.
“I was talking to Logan (Paul) about it,” Andre Schulz said on his podcast. “I was like, ‘Are you serious?’ He goes, ‘Yeah, yeah, I guess we’re going to have to sue him,’ and it sucks because once you go into the lawsuits the lawyers make all the money. You can stretch that sh*t out forever and he owes him (Logan Paul) probably between five and 10 million dollars.” (Transcribed by MMA Mania)
