It’s only fair that we should start this article with a warning that the 10 true-crime stories you are about to read contain truly disturbing, depraved, and graphic details of horrifying murders that have been committed by professional MMA fighters over the years, from unheralded journeymen on the regional circuit through to established stars who have fought for top-flight promotions like the UFC, Bellator and PRIDE.

As such, if you are squeamish or easily offended, then you may wish to skip this one and read one of our many other featured lists instead.

If not, proceed with caution and enjoy.

David Tyner

Former Titan FC fighter Tyner produced a solid 6-1 run in his first year as a professional MMA fighter in 2007, but only two years later in November of 2009, he was turning himself into police in connection with multiple homicides in Oklahoma.

The 28-year-old had reportedly been asked by Indian Brotherhood gang member Denny Phillips, to rob and kill an associate, Casey Mark Barrientos, who ran a drug and prostitution ring from his compound in Olkahoma.

On the night of the murders, Tyner dropped off two other armed men, Jonathan Allen Cochrane and Russell Lee Hogshooter, behind the property and then went inside via the front door, where he waited for Barrientos to come home.

The plan he claims was for the other two to come in via the back door and kill Barrientos when he arrived, and sometime later while Tyner was in the bathroom he did hear shots ring out from the living room.

However, when he approached, Tyner found Barrientos standing wielding a knife in the living room and so he proceeded to shoot him dead and then ruthlessly went on to kill two other two female witnesses who were also present, pregnant 22-year-old Millie Barerra and 25-year-old Jennifer Ermey.

Soon after, Tyner chased another man, Jose Fierro, outside, but he was able to flee the scene.

When he returned Tyner saw Cochrane and Hogshooter wielding bloody knives and discovered that 22-year-old Brooke Phillips, a pregnant prostitute who had once appeared on the reality TV show, ‘Cathouse,’ had been stabbed to death.

Tyner and Cochrane left the home soon afterward, while Hogshooter stayed behind to pour gasoline over the bodies and then set them alight.

Police eventually arrested all the perpetrators involved, and in May of 2012, Tyner pled guilty to six counts of murder (four adults and two fetuses) in exchange for life in prison with no option to appeal. Phillips and Hogshooter also received life sentences, while Cochrane is spending 25 years behind bars.

Six Biggest Takeaways From An Insane UFC 226

Check out the six biggest takeaways from last night’s blockbuster UFC 226:

The post Six Biggest Takeaways From An Insane UFC 226 appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

UFC 226 was the crown jewel of this year’s International Fight Week. The landmark event delivered on every level – except for one horrific fight – despite losing the co-main event just days prior.

The fact that Max Holloway was supposed to defend the featherweight title against Brian Ortega last evening is an afterthought that no one is talking about; that’s how awesome UFC 226 was.

Dana White went so far as to say it could’ve been the best offering in the history of the UFC if the card would’ve stayed intact. Regardless, UFC 226 had something for everyone, from big knockouts to a slick “Showtime” submission, and finally, the return of Brock Lesnar.

So now that the dust has settled and the smoke has cleared, let’s take a look at the six biggest takeaways from UFC 226.

Paulo Costa Is Brazil’s Next Big Star

Brazil has had more than their fair share of combat sports legends.

Royce Gracie, Anderson Silva, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Shogun Rua, and Lyoto Machida, amongst others, all had tremendous careers inside the octagon and went on to capture UFC gold, and there’s no doubt Silva will take his rightful place in the HOF as soon as he hangs em’ up despite two recent drug test failures.

The latest in a long lineage of Brazilian phenoms, Paulo “Borrachinha” Costa. The undefeated middleweight destroyer will be leaving Las Vegas with another victory, as he looked incredible against Uriah Hall. Costa improved to 12-0 as he landed body blow after body blow, finally overwhelming a game Hall in the process.

“Borrachinha”, however, did show some holes in his stand-up game. Costa was far too willing to trade with the faster fighter, and Hall continually found a home for his lead jab. Oddly enough, “Borrachinha” means “The Eraser” when translated in English; if the 27-year old can “Erase” the holes in his stand-up game, he could become Brazil’s next big MMA star.

10 Times MMA Got Into Bed With The Porn Industry

MMA has often climbed into bed with the **** industry – and the results weren’t always good:

The post 10 Times MMA Got Into Bed With The Porn Industry appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

“I’m a lover, not a fighter,” the old saying goes, but when it comes to MMA it seems that some stars are eager to prove that they can be both at the same time.

In this article, we’ll look at 10 occasions where the MMA and **** industries became intertwined, from the soft-core magazine shoots and hardcore movies through to the failed relationships and sex scandals.

Needless to say, it’s been a strange relationship. Enjoy.

War Machine

Ex-UFC fighter Jon “War Machine” Koppenhaver’s involvement in the **** industry would lead to his already controversial, unstable lifestyle spiraling even further out of control.

War Machine announced his intention to become a **** actor in 2009, signing with the L.A. Direct Models agency, and was soon featuring in his first movie with pornstar Riley Steele. He’d go on to feature in 12 films while simultaneously continuing his MMA career.

War Machine’s volatility would lead to his time in the industry being cut short, however, with a 2009 brawl at a party held in an L.A. club by pornstar Brooke Haven being a particular flashpoint.

The fighter was dating another pornstar at the time and reportedly slapped her in the face after seeing her talking to another man at the party before going on a rampage, striking multiple other people including **** actor Alec Knight, who was KO’d by a single punch.

In 2013, War Machine met famous **** star Christy Mack at a photoshoot for Hustler magazine and the two soon began dating.

Mack claimed to have quickly fallen in love with him, but only 4-5 months into their relationship she later stated that he became violent towards her.

They broke up and got back together several times the months that followed, but were separated in August 2014 when War Machine let himself into her home, only to find her and bed with another man, Corey Thomas.

War Machine flew into a rage, punching, biting, and choking Thomas before ordering him to leave.

He then set upon his ex-girlfriend, punching and kicking Mack repeatedly and attempting to rape her. The horrifying attack left Mack with 18 broken bones including a broken nose and ribs, missing teeth and a ruptured liver.

Despite her injuries, Mack was able to flee the scene, fearing for her life after War Machine went looking for a knife.

After a manhunt, War Machine was arrested and ultimately found guilty of 29 charges, including multiple sexual assault charges, leading to a sentence of life in prison with no opportunity for parole until he has served 36 years behind bars.

10 Most Shocking UFC Fighter Deaths

These 10 UFC fighter deaths shocked the sport of MMA:

The post 10 Most Shocking UFC Fighter Deaths appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Almost 25 years since the birth of the UFC, it’s with a heavy heart that we look back in disbelief at just how many fighters who once set foot in the Octagon, so vibrant and full of life, are sadly no longer with us.

In this article, we’ll recall the harrowing circumstances surrounding the death of 10 stars who had fought on the sport’s biggest stage, and whose passing shocked the MMA community to its very core.

Tim Hague

Former UFC heavyweight fighter Tim Hague’s premature passing at the age of 34 last year due to injuries sustained in the boxing ring was a painful reminder of just how dangerous combat sports can be.

Hague had compiled a 1-4 run during in the UFC between 2009-2011 and then moved on to successfully compete for other promotions like WSOF and King of the Cage in the years that followed.

Between 2015 and 2016 his form started to take a dramatic dip though, losing three fights in a row by way of knockout, then a 33-second TKO loss just a few months later in July.

That would prove to be Hague’s last ever MMA fight, but unfortunately, he didn’t hang up his gloves, turning to professional boxing instead.

He’d fight to a unanimous decision loss in the boxing ring that September, then suffered a first-round TKO loss in December. Undeterred, he then took an MMA-boxing hybrid fight billed as ‘superboxing’ in April of 2017 and was TKO’d in 40 seconds.

After that punishing succession of concussive defeats over a relatively short period, Hague should not have been licensed by the Edmonton Combative Sporting Commission to undertake another boxing bout just three months later against Adam Braidwood, an independent report would later conclude.

However, Hague was allowed to fight and quickly found himself outmatched by Braidwood, leading to him being floored no less than three times in the opening round.

The fight wasn’t stopped and so Hague continued to endure a one-sided beating in the second round that saw him dropped once more before finally being brutally KO’d.

Hague regained consciousness afterward and made his way out of the ring helped by his corner, but backstage he began complaining of a severe headache and was vomiting, leading to him being rushed to the hospital.

Two days later Hague was declared dead due to a traumatic brain injury.  Combat sports in Edmonton were subsequently banned for a year as a result of his tragic death.

Knockout Power II: The 12 Hardest Hitters In UFC For 2018

These 12 knockout hitters are the most dangerous in the UFC today:

The post Knockout Power II: The 12 Hardest Hitters In UFC For 2018 appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

The sport of mixed martial arts (MMA) continues to evolve at a rapid pace, with its combatants become more well rounded, skilled, and dangerous with each passing day.

That’s resulted in a new era of frighteningly efficient knockout artists, men and women who can put even the most skilled opponents to sleep with power punches the likes of which represent the full adaptation of modern MMA.

The UFC has always been about thunderous, entertaining knockouts, but it could and should be argued that the best knockout hitters of today can stop fights better than any previous iteration of the sport for obvious reasons.

With that in mind, we took a look at the 12 hardest hitters in the UFC today.

Enjoy.

Yoel Romero:

This top-ranked UFC middleweight has had ample opportunity to become a UFC champion, but lost twice to current middleweight titleholder Robert Whittaker and also missed weight prior to his brutal knockout of Luke Rockhold in what would have been an interim title bout at March’s UFC 221.

Much more controversy has followed “The Solider of God” throughout his UFC tenure as well, but his jaw-dropping knockout ability simply can’t be denied. Romero has stopped seven of his nine UFC wins by some form of knockout, and they’re almost always brutal. His devastating stoppages of Rockhold, Chris Weidman, and Lyoto Machida gives him a trio of KOs over former champions, and there’s a case to be made for him being the most frightening knockout artist in the UFC today.

Waiting opponents out and finding an opportunity to land a perfect knee, punch, or elbow, Romero lulls his opponents to sleep while figuring out their tendencies before ending the fight in shocking fashion, and for that, he deserves to kick off this list.

10 MMA Stars Who Had Plastic Surgery

Whether necessary or elected, these 10 MMA stars went under the knife for plastic surgery:

The post 10 MMA Stars Who Had Plastic Surgery appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Whether it’s for cosmetic, functional, or medical reasons, a number of MMA stars have opted to undergo plastic surgery over the years.

In this article we’ll take a look at 10 of them, revealing what procedures they had and what the end result looked like.

Pearl Gonzalez

If it had been left up to Pearl Gonzalez, nobody would have known that she had breast implants prior to her UFC debut at UFC 210 last year, but the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) had other ideas – and much to her embarrassment.

On the day of the weigh-ins, NYSAC officials informed the stunned Gonzalez that she wouldn’t be allowed to fight on the card due to her implants.

However, after taking a couple of minutes to get over the initial shock, Gonzalez told her team to stay focused and that she was determined to still compete.

The UFC then went to bat for Gonzalez and managed to smooth things over with the commission so that she could still fight on the card. Of course, by that stage word had gotten out about the situation and was being reported on far and wide.

“I don’t think I wanted the world to know about my surgery and to be talked about like this,” Gonzalez said at a hastily arranged press conference after her bout was green-lit, adding that, “I’m going to show the world that not only do I have breast implants, but I am a talented fighter.”
