10 Biggest Post-Fight Meltdowns In MMA History

Check out the 10 biggest post-fight meltdowns in MMA history.

The post 10 Biggest Post-Fight Meltdowns In MMA History appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

From the very beginning, there has been a fair share of post-fight meltdowns in MMA history.

Whether it was MMA’s original bad boy, Tito Ortiz, nearly inciting a riot with the Lions Den after his victory of Guy Metzger or Ronda Rousey going AWOL after losing the women’s bantamweight title, post-fight freakouts are must-watch TV.

The term meltdown or even freakout is a bit subjective. So for the purpose of this list, we will define meltdown as ‘a sudden loss of control over one’s feeling or behavior.’

So with that in mind, we scoured the combat sports landscape to bring you 10 of the biggest post-fight meltdowns in MMA history.

The list starts here, enjoy.

Jon Jones

Daniel Cormier

Before Daniel Cormier became the undisputed “baddest man on the planet” by defeating Stipe Miocic at UFC 226 and thus becoming the first man ever to hold both the light heavyweight title and the heavyweight strap at the same time, he was one of the internet’s hottest memes.

Cormier met his longtime rival Jon Jones for the light heavyweight title at July 2017’s UFC 214 from Anaheim, California. Although “DC” faired well in the early going of the five-round fight, Jones was the better man on that night. He knocked Cormier out with a third-round head kick to regain the title before testing positive for ********.

Sadly, the image of a grown man in tears is what most people remember from UFC 214.

The crying face Cormier meme quickly became the web’s newest way to express one’s unpleasantries, joining the famous crying Michael Jordan meme in the process.

Bellator Reveals Opening Round Of Welterweight Grand Prix

The Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix bracket is official.

The post Bellator Reveals Opening Round Of Welterweight Grand Prix appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

The Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix tournament bracket is officially set and will kick off at Bellator 206 on September 29, 2018.

Earlier today (Aug. 6, 2018) Bellator announced the bracket seedings for the welterweight GP via Instagram. But the news didn’t stop there, as they announced Paul Daley as one of the eight men involved in the tournament.

Daley’s participation was in question due to his ongoing contract issues with the promotion, but now that is all squared away, Daley is in.

The bracket breaks down as such:

One one side of the bracket Michael “Venom” Page (13-0) will take on fellow Brit Paul “Semtex” Daley (40-16-2) in a grudge match years in the making. Joining them on that side of the bracket are two former champions in Douglas “The Phenom” Lima (29-7) and Andrey “The Spartan” Koreshkov (21-2).

On the other side of the bracket waits reigning welterweight champion Rory “Red King” MacDonald (20-4) defending his belt against Jon Fitch (31-7-1). The winner of that bout will take on either Neiman Gracie (8-0) or fellow unbeaten prospect “EZ” Ed Ruth (6-0).

It seems Scott Coker has thought this Grand Prix out well after all this isn’t his first rodeo. Yaroslav Amasov (20-0) will fight Lorenz “The Monsoon” Larkin (19-7) with the winner earning the coveted alternate spot should one of the eight participants be unable to compete. It should be noted that reigning UFC double champ Daniel “DC” Cormier won the Strikeforce heavyweight GP as an alternate.

All fights are expected to be five-round affairs regardless of where and when they take place on the card. Perhaps the most interesting thing about this tournament is that the welterweight title will be up for grabs a total of three times. So, in theory, we could see a new 170-pound champion be crowned three more times in 2018.

The welterweight GP kicks off Sept. 29 at Bellator 206 with Daley vs. Page; the event will be the first on the streaming platform DAZN.

Bellator star Lorenz Larkin was not pleased to see one finish at an LFA event over the weekend.

In case you missed it, heavyweight fighter Drew Chatman finished Irvins Ayala but then thought it was a great idea to do a front-flip on Ayala’s unconscious body after the fight was declared over at Friday’s LFA 36 event that aired on AXS TV at Morongo Casino Resort in Cabazon, Calif.

This led to the commission declaring the celebration a DQ and the ruling was overturned.

This moment caught the attention of a lot of people including Larkin. Keep in mind that Chatman basically lucked into a win at this event due to the fact that it appears by looking at the footage that Ayala accidentally knocked himself out to end the fight.

Larkin took to his official Instagram account to rip Chatman and his gym, which is owned by former UFC title challenger Josh Koscheck. He wrote the following in the caption:

“What a piece of shit you are drew chatman!!!! And @joshkoscheck you should be f-cking embarrassed as a coach and gym owner.”

He also went on a rant in the video posted on the social media platform, which you can see here (transcript courtesy of MMAJunkie):

“You f-cking piece of sh-t. I’ve never, ever in my f-cking life see any type of classless sh-t like that, and I’ve been in the game for a while. I hope – I know (LFA President) Ed Soares is one hell of a f-cking promoter, and he will handle it to the fullest f-cking potential he can.

But I hope no other f-cking promotions – no matter how you f-cking do in your career – pick your sorry ass up. And I’m so glad you’re not on the higher f-cking levels so I could get my hands on you, you piece of f-cking sh-t.”
