UFC welterweights Sean Brady and Michel Pereira are set to face off on March 25th.

It has been announced that Brady and Pereira will join the likes of Holly Holm, Chidi Njokauni, and Maycee Barber on the UFC’s San Antonio, Texas card.

Pereira now has the opportunity to break into the UFC’s official top 15, having compiled an impressive five-fight win streak over the likes of Khaos Williams, Andre Fialho, and Niko Price. Pereira’s most recent victory came over the dangerous Santiago Ponzinibbio back in May, and appears to have found his footing in the promotion after a rough start to his UFC career.

As for Sean Brady, the 30-year-old will look to bounce back after his first career loss at the hands of Belal Muhammad at UFC 280. This fight came after 11 months his last and the jump up in class proved too much for the highly touted Brady who would be TKO’d in the second round.

Before the loss, Brady had compiled an impressive run, holding wins over Michael Chiesa and Jake Matthews. The Philadelphia native poses high-level grappling skills and even holds a win over jiu-jitsu legend, Craig Jones, in submission grappling.

The bout is set to be a real clash of styles with Pereira presenting an unorthodox striking style while Brady will likely rely heavily on his grappling skills.

Who do you think will win, Sean Brady or Michel Pereira?

The lineup for what is expected to be a blockbuster UFC pay-per-view at Las Vegas’ Sphere is expected to come together soon, and it appears one of the first names added to the card is the electrifying Michel Pereira.

The event — originally titled UFC 306 but now set as “Riyadh Season Noche UFC” — will be the promotion’s second celebration of Mexican Independence Day. While the first at T-Mobile Arena was a successful occasion last September, the mixed martial arts leader is looking to go above and beyond this time around.

On September 14, live sporting action will go down inside the Sphere for the very first time. Ever since confirming the venue for the second instalment of Noche UFC, Dana White has promised fireworks in an unforgettable night.

And when it comes to that level of excitement, you could do worse than having Michel Pereira making the walk…

Pereira & ‘Fluffy’ Hernandez Set For Sphere Showcase

The promotion has been tight-lipped thus far when it comes to which athletes will make the walk inside the Sphere, but Pereira appears to have let slip his inclusion.

In a post on Instagram, the #13-ranked middleweight uploaded an image of his in-game character on UFC 5 facing off with the man directly below him on the 185-pound ladder, Anthony “Fluffy” Hernandez.

In the caption, “Demolidor” revealed that he’s set to share the Octagon with the fan favorite on September 14.

“HERE WE GOOOO !! September 14th the Sphere Las Vegas will be LIT,” Pereira wrote, translated from Portuguese. “And Carrapato Hernandez is going to meet the Revestrés and Smoke Mix!! Michel Pereira x Anthony Hernandez!! HERE WE GO!!

Pereira (31-11, 2 NC) was most recently in action on home soil at UFC 301, where he thrilled the Rio de Janeiro crowd with a 54-second finish of Ihor Potieria. The result marked the Brazilian’s third straight win since returning to middleweight, with all three equalling just 3 minutes and one second of Octagon time.

Hernandez (12-2, 1 NC), meanwhile, has risen into the top 15 courtesy of five consecutive wins since a loss to Kevin Holland in 2020. That run started with a memorable submission of Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist Rodolfo Vieira and most recently saw “Fluffy” force a tap from Roman Kopylov at UFC 298 in Anaheim this past February.

Michel Pereira, Khamzat Chimaev, Colby Covington

‘Demolidor’ Michel Pereira is tired of waiting for the stagnant welterweight division. The Brazilian athlete recently called out Khamzat Chimaev, Stephen Thompson, Li Jingliang, and Colby Covington.

Brazil’s Pereira is currently on a five-fight win streak and is ranked within the top 15 of the UFC’s welterweight division. But has been unable to get a fight since May of 2022.

Michel Pereira specifically wants to fight at UFC 283 which will be hosted in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in January 2023 but no one has said yes to him. In an interview with Ag Fight, ‘Demolidor’ explained:

“I’d fight (Li) Jingliang, the one Chimaev almost killed. This fight was offered to me and I took it, the it was offered to him and he turned it down. I don’t know what those guys are thinking, the reason why they won’t fight me. I’d fight (Colby) Covington. I’d really like to fight (Khamzat) Chimaev, because he talks too much. I’d fight Thompson. The only ones I wouldn’t fight are (Vicente) Luque and (Gilbert) Burns. The rest of them, I’m ready for them, they can all come at me. I ask, but they don’t accept it. They’re sissies. Whoever wants it, I’m here.” [Transcript courtesy of Bloody Elbow]

Michel Pereira says welterweights are too picky

The problem, according to Michel Pereira, is that all the UFC welterweights are too picky. The Brazilian athlete is open to fight any of these gentlemen, but none have accepted him. He added:

“I’m training, I’m ready. My managers are trying to get me a fight in Rio, but it’s been hard to find an opponent. Those are guys are way too picky. I’ve been waiting for the ranked guys in my division to man up and fight me.”
