Professional boxer, Jake Paul has reportedly agreed to an offer from the PFL (Professional Fighters League) to fight former UFC lightweight title challenger and welterweight contender, Nate Diaz in a mixed martial arts rematch off the back of their boxing match back in August.
Paul, who improved to 7-1 as a professional back in August in Texas, rebounded from a decision defeat to Tommy Fury earlier this year, with a one-sided unanimous decision win over Stockton native, Diaz.
And targeting a return to competition on December 15. next – Paul has been tipped to fight before the close of the year against a so-far unnamed opponent.
Jake Paul reportedly accepts offer to make MMA debut under PFL banner
“For the record: Jake Paul will not be boxing Nate Diaz again,” MVP posted on their official X account. “Nate Diaz and Jake Paul have received an offer from @PFLMMA to rematch in MMA in the SmartCage. Jake Paul has accepted the offer.”
Weighing up a return to mixed martial arts following his boxing debut loss to Paul, one-time lightweight title challenger, Diaz was the subject of speculation regarding a comeback to the UFC, in the form of long-awaited clashes with former interim gold holder, Dustin Poirier, as well as an overdue trilogy rubber match with Conor McGregor.
Calling for a boxing rematch with Paul first, Diaz then claimed he would fight the Ohio striker in a professional mixed martial arts trilogy fight.

With Bellator’s future currently up in the air, reigning heavyweight champion Ryan Bader was well aware that Saturday night’s Bellator 300 event could be his final opportunity to defend the title. Sadly, he won’t have that chance after his opponent, Linton Vassell, withdrew from the contest days before fight night.
With rumors of the promotion being sold to a third party swirling, Bader is uncertain where he or other members of the Bellator roster currently stand.
“I’ve had some talks with my manager about ‘what ifs,’ but really nobody knows what’s happening,” Bader told MMA Fighting. “So what you can do, keep that on the outside and take care of your job. Put yourself in the best position moving forward with a merger or who knows what happens. Are we all free agents? Are we merging with PFL? We don’t know.
“You can think of all different scenarios, but none of them may be true. What we have to do is keep our heads down and think about the fight in front of us, and put ourselves in the best position to get your contract picked up, or if you’re a free agent, a new contract. Being the heavyweight champion has a little bit of weight going into that.”
Ryan Bader Looks at a Potential Legacy Fight with Francis Ngannou
The prevailing theory thus far has Bellator being absorbed by the Professional Fighters League, a promotion that is looking to make a strong push in the next few years courtesy of an aggressive expansion in Europe and Africa. Not to mention the acquisition of former UFC heavyweight world champion Francis Ngannou.
Currently, Ngannou is gearing up for a big-money boxing match with Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia on October 28. Once that bout is in the books, ‘The Predator’ is expected to turn his attention back toward MMA, making his PFL debut in early 2024. No official opponent has been announced for his premiere performance inside the Smart Cage, but whoever earns the opportunity will walk away with a fat sack of cash, win or lose.
“[Ngannou] has a minimum [of $2 million dollars], and that’s anybody that fights him gets $2 million,” Bader said. “You go in there as a champion and negotiate your terms too, that’s a nice little payday and something you work toward. Something like that’s definitely on the line, so maybe this is happening at the right time for the right reason.
“Obviously we’ve got to see how things shake out, but it seems to be happening at the right moment. It’s one of the things I’m talking about. If this merger or whatever comes to happen, that’s a big money fight and it’s something that’s very, very interesting.”
Ryan Bader first broke onto the MMA scene after winning the eighth season of The Ultimate Fighter in 2008. Over the next eight years, ‘Darth’ would compete against a who’s who of light heavyweight talent inside the Octagon, including Jon Jones, Lyoto Machida, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, Rashad Evans, Glover Teixeira, and Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson.
However, it wasn’t until he ventured to Bellator in 2017 that Bader would hit his strike, capturing both the light heavyweight and heavyweight titles. In February, ‘Darth’ successfully defended the heavyweight strap against MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko at Bellator 290. A fight that could end up being his last for the promotion.
“I’ve hit a lot of those plateaus and peaks as far as winning the heavyweight grand prix while holding the light heavyweight belt. You can’t really top that,” Bader said. “[I beat] Fedor [Emelianenko], and being heavyweight champ for so long — so yeah, a lot of it is you want to make [money], and I’ve been making great money, and I want to continue making great money or even more money.
“I’m 40 years old. I’m not going to be fighting here forever. I’m not going to be fighting four or five more years. So yeah, that’s a big motivator, too. Go out and get these paychecks, but deep down the [competitor] in me wants to go out and win, and win titles, and do that kind of stuff also. They go hand in hand.”
Derek Brunson has now signed with the PFL and will compete in their light-heavyweight tournament after splitting from the UFC. Derek Brunson has now signed with the PFL and will compete in their light-heavyweight tournament after splitting from the UFC.
During his decade-long UFC career, Brunson spent a long time hanging around the middleweight top-15 and gained some valuable wins while doing so. The 39-year-old defeated the likes of Lyoto Machida, Uriah Hall and Kevin Holland during his tenure, but his time with the promotion is now over.
Brunson had been booked to face Roman Dolidze in November, but out of the blue it was announced that Brunson was out of the but and shortly after it was announced that he had parted ways with the UFC.
Derek Brunson signs with PFL
It was unclear why the fight had fallen through, or what Brunson would do next. Some speculated that the American would retire but it wouldn’t take long for some big news to drop.
Talking with The Schmo, Brunson’s manager Ali Abdelaziz announced that he had signed with the PFL and would be moving up to 205lbs to fight in the $1 million light-heavyweight tournament.
“Derek Brunson, he signed with PFL, he’s a PFL fighter,” Abdelaziz told The Schmo. “He’s gonna fight before the end of the year. He did a lot for the UFC. UFC did a lot for him. He had a great career, crazy schedule, fought (Robert) Whittaker, fought (Israel) Adesanya, fought Kevin Holland, fought all those guys, Darren Till. Now he’s looking to make his run at the light heavyweight title for PFL.” (H/T BJPenn.com)
Shortly after, Brunson took to social media to make his own announcement.
The PFL move is a fantastic opportunity for Brunson to make one last run and potentially collect a world title, along with a big payday, before officially calling it a career. it was just announced that Brunson would make his promotional debut at middleweight against Ray Cooper III on November 24.

Slated to make his professional boxing debut later this month in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, former undisputed UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou has saw his skills and abilities compated to that of a “zero fight novice” ahead of his boxing match with WBC titleholder, Tyson Fury.
Ngannou, a former undisputed heavyweight champion under the banner of the UFC, will make his first venture into professional boxing later this month in the Middle East – taking on Morecambe native, Fury over the course of 10 rounds in a professional boxing.
Sidelined from active competition since January of last year, Cameroonian striker, Francis Ngannou most recently turned in a unanimous decision win over former interim heavyweight champion, Ciryl Gane in the main event of UFC 270 to successfully unify the championships.
Francis Ngannou likely has no chance according to Carl Froch
“(Tyson) Fury’s not going to be worried about getting hit by that monstrous punch because I’ve seen (Francis) Ngannou on the pads and he looks terrible,” Carl Froch said during an interview with Best Gambling Sites. “He looks like what I’d expect a zero fight novice to look like. Slow, awkward, stiff. How is he going to get near Fury? He’s going to get his head absolutely peppered off.”
As for Fury, the undefeated WBC heavyweight champion has already put pen to paper on an official contract to make a return to the ring potentially just eight weeks after his fight with Ngannou, booking an undisputed heavyweight championship fight with fellow decorated gold holder, Oleksandr Usyk in the Middle East to boot.
