Former dual weight UFC champion Daniel Cormier says he looks like Dwyane ‘The Rock’ Johnson and the movie star seems to agree.

Cormier admits he has been struggling to keep the weight off during the lockdown. However, when an ESPN poster made him look podgy, Cormier intervened and asked for a bit more definition on be added which resulted in him looking like ‘The Rock’. Check out the poster below.

Speaking on the latest episode of ESPN’s “DC and Helwani”, the MMA reporter tells Cormier he is being roasted online for the poster, he says.

“Robert Pearson made us this amazing poster and you are getting killed for this poster because they all think that you made it and you made yourself look like The Rock. You have this nice slim figure, the neck, what’s going on with this poster?”

Cormier then went on to explain how the whole poster situation played out.

“So here’s the deal, I was shown three copies…the poster,” Cormier said. “The first one was a little pudgy, you know, then I said ‘Make him a little less pudgy’ and then he made him a little less pudgy.”

“And then I said ‘Shave his head. Make his face look like mine but like The Rock, and then I want my body to look like The Rock.”

“Don’t hate,” Cormier said. “People are hatin’ because I look like Dwayne Johnson. It’s not my fault that there’s a very strong resemblance between me and The Rock.” (Transcribed by Heavy.com)

While not many fans seem to agree the only man who counts does. ‘The Rock’ took to social media to address the poster and his “twin” Cormier, he wrote.

“Maaan this gave me a good laugh. Me and my brother [Daniel Cormier] are pretty much identical twins. Get over it people. Sheeesh.”

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has sent a message of support to UFC and MMA fighters during the coronavirus triggered lockdown.

The UFC has been forced to shut down operations despite the best efforts of Dana White to press ahead with fight nights. It is unknown when MMA will return to our screens, but the UFC President is currently working on converting a private island into the host venue of future events.

In the meantime, The Rock’ felt the need to send his sympathy to MMA fighters and tell them he expects fireworks when they return to the cage during a recent Q&A on Instagram.

“To all the fighters in the UFC, MMA, and around the world – specifically the UFC because I’ve been really following them closely, Dana White and I are very good buddies – I feel for you guys not being able to fight,” Johnson stated. “But soon enough, there’s a silver lining in this.

“Maybe it’s your training, maybe it’s your mental capacity that you could expand right now as you guys aren’t allowed in the cage as you’ve been shut down, but there is some silver lining in all of this and I hope you guys find it. Because when you come back, the velocity in which you guys come back, I expect to see some dynamite fights when you come back in the cage and I can’t wait. The moment I can be there, I’m going to be there cage side.”

‘The Rock’ made these comments after heavyweight contender Francis Ngannou called him an inspiration and offered the former WWE star a chance to train with him. Johnson then took the time to single out Ngannou for particular praise, he said.

“Francis Ngannou, let me tell you something, brother – you ain’t ready for me,” Johnson quipped. “I respect and love this guy so much. He is one of the top heavyweights in MMA, and in the world, and he is a dominant beast of a man. I can’t wait to see him fight again.” (Transcribed by MMA Insight)

One of many attractions for this month’s UFC 244 pay-per-view (PPV) event was the involvement of WWE legend and Hollywood megastar, The Rock.

Rock, real name Dwayne Johnson, helped hype the Baddest Mother F*cker Championship fight main event between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz. He also was to wrap the title around the winner’s waist, a job typically done by UFC president Dana White. Masvidal, a fellow Miami native of Johnson’s, wound up winning the fight.

Afterward, Johnson shared a bit of advice with “Gamebred” backstage. Speaking on “The Ariel Helwani MMA Show” this week, Johnson revealed what he told Masvidal after beating Diaz. (H/T MMA Fighting)

“I congratulated him of course and I talked to him about what this opportunity meant and how this BMF title that is somewhat polarizing in the sport of MMA — some guys were behind it and some guys weren’t — but again, this is this unique experience that kind of transcends weight divisions and the sport because it has such street cred,” Johnson said.

“There’s incredible champions who are incredibly disciplined and skilled in multiple disciplines of MMA, and then there’s the BMFs. So I was very happy for Jorge… So I reminded him what an incredible opportunity this is and to take advantage of it and continue to work hard as of course he is going to do.

“And also, he’s got a sharp wit about him which makes him very likeable. He loves to talk sh*t, as we all do down in Miami, but he also has a cool, sharp, smart wit about him and he’s got his head in the right place, and his head being in the right place is wanting to do everything he can to impact his own bottom line, impact the company’s bottom line, which will in turn generate more income for himself and the fighters. So he’s really making sure that his value is realized.”

Now, Masvidal has plenty of options for his 2020 return. He could wait for the winner of the welterweight title fight in December between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington, try for a money fight with Conor McGregor, or continue to pursue the boxing fight he has called for with Canelo Alvarez.

No matter what “Gamebred” decides to do next, one thing is for certain, the combat sports world will be watching intently.
