Say What? Nate Diaz Is A New Father

This came out of nowhere. Nate Diaz is now a dad:

You probably didn’t see this one coming.

A report surfaced from TMZ Sports today that longtime UFC veteran Nate Diaz is a new father after his longtime girlfriend Misty Brown gave birth to a baby girl on June 6.

According to public records obtained by TMZ, Brown, who hails from Stockton, Calif., like Diaz, welcomed a healthy girl in a California hospital.

The two reportedly began dating in 2012 and have repeatedly posted pictures of one another on social media. A call to Diaz’ camp for comments on the newborn was reportedly not returned.

Diaz has been out of action since his ultra-close majority decision loss to rival Conor McGregor in August 2016 and has been rumored to be returning to MMA soon despite nothing concrete being officially announced.

There’s been no word if the birth of his daughter will delay that perceived comeback – or if it was even going to happen.

Five Reasons Nate Diaz’ Shtick Is Growing Old

Here’s why it’s time for Nate Diaz to stop playing all the games and fight:

The post Five Reasons Nate Diaz’ Shtick Is Growing Old appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Recently, the MMA universe has been entranced with the rumors that lightweight fan favorite Nate Diaz is finally returning from his self-imposed hiatus that’s approaching two years without a fight.

Diaz was linked to a bout with UFC legend Georges St-Pierre – at lightweight of all places – a fight that didn’t make much sense on paper but would have brought both eyeballs and dollar signs to August 4’s UFC 227 from Los Angeles nonetheless.

But Diaz, as he’s done with every single potentially huge match-up throw his way in the last two years, unceremoniously shot it down this weekend, stating that he wouldn’t fight St-Pierre because of some supposed shady business that went down when “GSP” fought his brother Nick in 2013.

Diaz claims he’s ‘interested in doing something’ but ‘nobody interests him,’ creating a scene where he appears to be waiting for the singular opponent who boosted his otherwise middling star power into the stratosphere with their record-setting, now-historic rivalry in 2016. However, while he waits for that elusive trilogy match, his shtick is simply growing tired as he calls out an entire division on Twitter and refuses to take huge fights most fighters wait their entire careers for by calling them ‘uninteresting.’

We broke down five reasons why Diaz’ teasing, entitled act is growing old. Check them out:

5.) He’s Calling Out Active Fighters While Refusing To Fight:

Diaz claims he wants to fight, going so far as to tease a comeback in ‘May or June’ earlier this year.

When that predictably didn’t materialize, Diaz got back on social media, the place where he’s been throwing all his blows as of late, to poke fun at Tony Ferguson for withdrawing from his main event versus Khabib Nurmagomedov at April 7’s UFC 223 due to a serious knee injury.

Diaz said Ferguson ‘couldn’t even make it to war,’ to which Ferguson clapped back that Diaz would first need to sign up to fight.

Like him or not, ‘El Cucuy’ has a point there, as it’s simply hypocritical that Diaz would call out a fighter looking to compete for a title for getting hurt while he sits on the sidelines doing nothing. He wants a big fight – or so he claims – but at this point, the fights with St-Pierre, welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, Ferguson, and former lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez have all been discussed or offered and he’s admittedly turned them down.

That’s why it’s hypocritical to call out the fighters who are actually focused on competing, and it’s growing old if it hasn’t been for months already.

Police Investigating Nate Diaz For Recent Clay Guida Brawl

Nate Diaz may be in trouble for his scuffle with Clay Guida…

Nate Diaz may be in trouble with the law after an impromptu rematch with Clay Guida while at a Combate Americas event last weekend.

The two reportedly got into a physical altercation while at the event to support their teammates respective fights, and was documented by fellow mixed martial artist Tyler Diamond. Some of the fight was captured on camera as well:

Deputies with the Sacramento Sheriffs Department responded to the melee and took an incident report from Guida, who accused Diaz of battery, according to  Sacramento sheriff spokesperson Sgt. Shaun Hampton.

Guida suffered a bloody lip in the midst of the donnybrook, and witnesses on scene report Guida bleeding from his face in the aftermath of the fight.

Diaz fled the scene before authorities arrived and may possibly face charges, according to police.

Guida took to social media shortly thereafter to call Diaz out:

Diaz and Guida actually already fought (professionally) back in 2009, where Guida took a split decision over the Stockton slugger. Guida has been tweeting quite a bit about a rematch with Diaz lately, which could have played into their backstage scuffle.

Guida is currently coming off of a nasty first round knockout over Joe Lauzon and will be taking on Bobby Green at UFC 225.

On the other hand, Diaz hasn’t fought since losing the rematch with Conor McGregor at UFC 202.

Kevin Lee Says Nate Diaz Is Running Away From Him

Surging UFC lightweight contender Kevin Lee may be coming off of the biggest victory of his UFC career, but he’s already set his sights on his next opponent.

After brutalizing Edson Barboza en route to a fifth-round TKO stoppage in April, Lee says he wants to welcome Nate Diaz back into the cage as rumors of Diaz’s imminent return have arisen.

With Diaz rumored to be in talks for a comeback fight at UFC 227, Lee says he’s focused on fighting the only man to beat Conor McGregor in the UFC (via MMA Junkie):

“I’m turning my focus to Nate. I think that Nate fight is out there to be had. He’s already run away from me once. Now they’ve got Aug. 4 coming up that he’s looking to get on.”

“I’m going to do a little bit of traveling, see the world a bit myself and kind of expand some more of that life to experience, which is just going to make me a better fighter. Coming back? I don’t know. I think the Khabib fight is the right one to make, but the Nate one is out there to be had. I know Dustin and Alvarez, they’re getting in it again, as they rightfully should. But we’ll how this thing shakes out. I’m going to turn my focus onto Nate.”

Diaz hasn’t fought since losing a decision in his UFC 202 rematch against McGregor back in 2016. Prior to that loss, Diaz submitted “The Notorious” in the second round at UFC 196.

Diaz has been on hiatus from fighting ever since the loss to McGregor, but sources say he’s in talks with the UFC for a return at UFC 227 in August. With every other top ten lightweight booked at the moment, that leaves No. 5-ranked Lee as the best option for the Stockton native.

How do you feel about a Lee vs. Diaz fight? Who would win should Lee get the fight he’s angling for?

The mixed martial arts (MMA) world has been abuzz this week with the news that Nate Diaz will reportedly return to action at August’s UFC 227.

As usual, however, Dana White is cautioning us to pump the brakes.

According to the UFC president via Yahoo’s Kevin Iole, the news of Diaz is no news, because the promotion has been offering him a fight every three to four months as they have been since he faced Conor McGregor at UFC 202 in 2016, and it’s the same denial it’s always been:

So White insists that Diaz isn’t coming back anytime soon and that there’s nothing to see here.

Interesting.

So interesting, in fact, that some would interpret that as an almost certain confirmation that Diaz will indeed be returning to the octagon sometime very soon. If and when he does, it would seem likely he’s matched up with one of a trio of top-ranked lightweights consisting of Kevin Lee, Dustin Poirier, and Eddie Alvarez.

All three of those fighters are elite lightweights who have won recent bouts by stoppage; Diaz hasn’t fought at lightweight since late 2015.

That may have Diaz rating as the underdog in all three match-ups due to his inactivity. To see how he matches up with all three, check out our match-up breakdowns involving Diaz right here.
