Conor McGregor’s legal issues continue to pile up.

Back in August of 2016 McGregor got into some hot water after engaging in a water bottle and Monster Energy can war with Nate Diaz and his team ahead of their UFC 202 pay-per-view (PPV) clash.

Some innocent bystanders suffered as a result, as William Pegg is suing McGregor for at least $95,000 after the Irishman allegedly hit him with a Monster Energy can ‘in the back near his left shoulder.’

McGregor missed his scheduled deposition for the incident as he was in jail for his UFC 223 fighter bus attack. The deposition was scheduled for April 6th, however, on April 5th “The Notorious One” stormed media day in Brooklyn ahead of the PPV and threw a dolly through a fighter bus window, injuring several fighters in the process. He turned himself in to local authorities several hours later.

The deposition was set to take place in Las Vegas, however, McGregor was jailed in New York after the bus attack and was unable to make it.

According to a report from The Blast, William Pegg is not happy about this:

“In his emergency motion to compel, Pegg says the fighter has delayed the depo since September 2017. He explains the deadline to have it done is in October but McGregor refuses to give him available dates. Pegg says McGregor’s deposition was scheduled for April 6, 2018, but “McGregor did not appear for his deposition. Instead, on the night of April 5, 2018, he was throwing metal barriers and other objects at the UFC 223, at which he was not scheduled to appear.”

“He accuses the fighter of delaying the depo for months and is demanding the judge order the fighter to sit and be grilled about the case.”

Pegg is also demanding six figures in damages as well as $5000 for medical costs. He also wants the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champ to turn over his financial information in order for the court to determine how much McGregor should be fined in order to teach him not to do something like this again.

UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway has fought Conor McGregor and as such, knows the controversial Irishman well.

Most of McGregor’s UFC colleagues have excoriated him for injuring several innocent fighters two days before April’s UFC 223 during the now-infamous Brooklyn bus attack.

Count Holloway among the very few who still wish Conor the best; the featherweight champion spoke to TMZ and gave a brutally honest yet positive response when asked about McGregor’s legal issues.

To somewhat surprising results, Hollway said he actually felt bad for “The Notorious”:

“Conor’s got some serious stuff going on and I wish nothing but the best for the guy.

”I feel bad for the guy right now with his legal issues and I hope everything goes good for him.

”As a family man to a family man, I hope everything turns out good for him.”

McGregor has been dealing with the legal fallout of his actions that day in Brooklyn ever since, having to fly to New York City for court appearances multiple times by the time he wraps it up. At the same time, he’s balancing out life as a new father, after his longtime companion Dee Devlin gave birth to their son Conor Jr. last year.

Holloway and McGregor threw down in McGregor’s seond-ever UFC fight back in 2013, with “The Notorious” leaving with a decision victory. “Blessed” hasn’t lost since that fight and has picked up the featherweight belt in McGregor’s absence.

Holloway will defend his belt against Brian Ortega at UFC 226 on July 7 while McGregor is set to return for another court date on July 26.

UFC lightweight Michael Chiesa was one of several fighters who were injured during Conor McGregor’s wild bus attack just days before UFC 223. “The Notorious” and his band of goons flew to New York City and showed up at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn to confront Khabib Nurmagomedov, but Chiesa got caught in the crossfire.

The cuts to Chiesa’s face were so severe that he was pulled from his fight against former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, a win over whom would have placed him right at the top of the division. Chiesa vented on Thursday about the opportunities that McGregor’s antics cost him:

“I don’t really got a lot to say to the guy. I lost a title shot. I have proof. I was the highest-ranked guy on the card. I would have stepped in to fight Khabib at the drop of a dime. I’ve always loved the fight with Khabib. Bless his heart, he’s a cool ass guy. But this is a sport and I’ve always liked the way I matched up against him and I got f*cked out of that opportunity. I don’t really have too many kind things to say to [McGregor]. You work your whole life for those kinds of opportunities. Do I want mine on short order? No, I’d love a training camp. Like I said, if they walk in the door now and say, ‘Hey, do you want to fight for the title in the next 10 minutes?’ I’m out the door, I’m warming up, I’m ready to go.

“To lose the opportunity, that’s tough. You know how this sport works, guys. Opportunities like that don’t come along. I could strike along 15 wins in a row and still not get a title shot and I lost my opportunity and my dream. I hope that I’m gonna fight my ass off to earn it back starting on July 7 against Anthony Pettis. But yeah, tough pill to swallow.”

McGregor was arrested shortly thereafter and was charged with assault. The Irishman has been coming back and forth from court ever since.

Meanwhile, Chiesa will get his chance to take on a former champ in Pettis once again at UFC 226 in July.

The UFC needs him back in the cage immediately, but any real news about Conor McGregor’s supposed MMA return is difficult to find these days.

The former lightweight and featherweight champion is awaiting a court date in July to sort out assault charges stemming from his April 5 attack where he threw a dolly through a bus containing current UFC 155-pound champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, an incident for which he’s expected to ultimately not serve any jail time.

When that’s finally said and done, McGregor is expected to return for a massive megafight with “The Eagle,” although many are questioning if it will happen due to “The Notorious’” actions following his reported $85 million payday to box Floyd Mayweather last summer. However, he lives an extremely lavish lifestyle where even that much cash is drained quickly, so at least one person close to the situation thinks McGregor will have to return soon.

Khabib’s manager Ali Abdelaziz recently told TMZ Sports that McGregor is running low on income and has “agreed” to fight Nurmagomedov for that one reason. If he does, Abdelaziz said they would contribute to his monetary gains because they owed him something:

“Conor’s running out of money. This is why he agreed to fight Khabib.

“It’s okay,” Ali says … “We’re gonna contribute of him making some money, but at the end of the day we owe him an ass whooping. He needs to get his ass whooped from Khabib.”

The outspoken representative then gave a take on McGregor’s so-called attitude of being a ‘gangster’ by claiming it never ends well for those kinds of men:

“He thinks he’s a gangster,” Ali says … “I don’t think he is. But, when you think you’re a gangster, you’re going to get treated like a gangster. And gangster, they end in jail or get beat up.”

Abdelaziz’s words suggest he’s trying to goad McGregor out of hiding, something he’s only done for his court date recently. Talk continues to swirl about his anticipated match-up with Nurmagomedov from both sides, but at this point, that’s all it is – just talk. The UFC and its fans could definitely use a fight of that magnitude as pay-per-view sales have dried up to frighteningly low levels of late.

But both sides have begun ramping up discussions of the fight, and it does have some possibility of being booked soon, at least hopefully. Three dates are being targeted according to Abdelaziz – October’s UFC 229, November’s UFC 230, and late December’s UFC 232, yet he didn’t believe he would be able to get licensed for UFC 230 due to the fact it will happen in New York City, where he is facing charges.

Seems like a lot of red tape remains for MMA’s biggest fight to get booked. It won’t be for a lack of trying to make it happen from Khabib’s camp, however.

Former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor was in Brooklyn, New York today (Thurs. June 14, 2018) in court to answer for his actions in the city several months ago.

McGregor and a member of his entourage, Cian Cowley, were charged for their assaults on a pair of fighter busses during UFC 223 media day in Brooklyn on April 5th. McGregor threw a dolly at one of the bus windows that shattered glass everywhere and injured several fighters.

Some fights on the card were forced to be either cancelled or re-shuffled. McGregor is looking at three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief. Cowley is facing one count of assault and one count of criminal mischief.

McGregor’s manager, Audie Attar, spoke to MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani on the matter and revealed they are currently in negotiations for a plea deal with the district attorney (quotes via MMA Fighting):

“Today we’re here to focus on court, we’re not going to focus on any future plans until we handle this matter,” Attar said. ”Right now we’re in good negotiations with the district attorney, so we’re going to focus on that and we’ll focus on the future later.”

McGregor’s next court date is set for July 26th. When Attar was asked if he believes the matter will be resolved on that date, here’s what he had to say:

“Should be,” Attar said. ”Hope so.”

UFC President Dana White said to TMZ yesterday (Wed. June 13, 2018) that he plans to meet with McGregor on June 18th to discuss his fighting future. That doesn’t seem to be too much of a priority for Attar, however, who said the McGregor camp is currently focused on the legal matters at hand:

“We’re going to keep all that right now on the backburner and really focus on this matter only and we’ll focus on all that other stuff later,” Attar said.
