UFC president, Dana White has hit out at critics of his following UFC 282, labelling Instagram users who brought up the topic of fighter pay in the promotion, as well as financial compensation for injuries suffered in camp and training, as “creeps”.

White, the promotion’s president since the Zuffa LLC era began back in 2001, discussed the recent shoulder injury suffered by former undisputed light heavyweight champion, Jiri Prochazka ahead of a scheduled UFC 282 title rematch with Glover Teixeira.

Slated to headline the final flagship event of the year for the organization in a rematch against Brazilian veteran, Teixeira, Prochazka had suffered a dislocation of his shoulder during a training session at the UFC Performance Institute, with members of his team unsuccessfully attempting to relocate the shoulder, ultimately worsening the injury as the Czech Republic native required a surgical procedure.

Sharing his thoughts on Prochazka’s debilitating injury, which is expected to sideline the former champion for at least a year, White urged fighters to attend a medical facility immediately if they suffer an injury during camp, claiming the UFC would financially reimburse the fighter afterwards.

“He (Jiri Prochazka) had some guys there at the gym – and destroyed his shoulder,” Dana White said during a podcast appearance on UFC lightweight, Paddy Pimblett’s YouTube channel. “So, I tell you, I told him – I told all the fighters, if anything happens to you, jump in a f*cking car and go to the hospital. We will pay for everything – let – don’t even risk it. Just go to the hospital.”

Dana White hits back at critics on Instagram

Beneath an Instagram post on Liverpool native, Pimblett’s account, multiple users questioned White’s stance on financially reimbursing fighters for medical expenses, as well as highlighting the notorious issue with financial compensation and fighter pay under the banner of the UFC.

Taking umbrage with comments fielded toward him, White replied on the post, labelling commenters as “creeps”.

“Nothing but CREEPS on this whole thread,” Dana White posted on Instagram.

Dillon Danis had to pay Bellator President Scott Coker for the rights to box KSI. Danis is best known as a former training partner of Conor McGregor who has gone 2-0 in MMA since 2018.

The MMA fighter Dillon Danis wanted to have a boxing match against YouTuber KSI but is still under contract with Bellator. Bellator promotes under Showtime while KSI promotes under DAZN. Danis planning to box against KSI on DAZN, Showtime didn’t like this. Because of that, Danis had to pay Bellator for the rights to do so.

Dillon Danis had to pay Scott Coker

In an interview on The MMA Hour, Danis explained the situation to Ariel Helwani. He said:

“I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about how I had to do that, because Showtime and DAZN are rivals, so I had to pay a hefty fee. It’s a lot of money. What I’m paying Coker to let me fight is more than probably every UFC [fighter makes]. I’m still with them. It would be different if I was with Showtime, because Showtime, they have a deal with them.”

Danis went on to explain that Bellator President Scott Coker was likely mad that his comeback fight was not in Bellator. He said:

“He wants me to come back to MMA, his star. Obviously, there’s no one in Bellator that’s going to bring that kind of noise. Who brings that much hype? I just think that he’s mad The big comeback should’ve been in MMA, which I agree, but why not just beat up a YouTuber for a f****** ton of money?” [Transcript courtesy of MMA Fighting]

KSI and Dillon Danis are booked for a match for January 14 on MF & DAZN: X Series 004. This boxing match is booked for Wembley Arena, which has a 12,500 person capacity. Wembley Arena has also hosted The Masked Singer and multiple Bellator events.

Jared Cannonier is letting the world know he’s more than happy to replace Paulo Costa against Robert Whittaker when the UFC returns to Australia in February.

After weeks of Paulo Costa telling everyone repeatedly that he hadn’t signed a contract to fight Robert Whittaker in Australia, the UFC announced that Costa vs. Whittaker was off the card. The news wasn’t a shock to anyone keeping track of Costa’s contractual situation with the UFC, but it did seem to catch Whittaker by surprise.

“They’re looking to reschedule me in March, April and this is very upsetting,” Whittaker said in a video posted to social media. “I’m sorry to all the friends, fans, and family that are heading over there to watch me do work, but yeah it’s out of my hands. I’m upset. I was prepared to train through Christmas, to train through New Year’s to put in the work. I’m already so deep into my camp and everyone knows that my camps are quite long, so I’m already so deep into my camp and work.”

But what if Robert doesn’t have to be pulled from the card entirely? What if Jared Cannonier, who just beat Sean Strickland this past Saturday, was interested in stepping in to face “The Reaper” in Perth?

Well, ask ‘What if?’ no more, because Cannonier is down for it.

“Hell yeah, I’ve never been to Australia before,” he said when asked on The MMA Hour about fighting Whittaker at UFC 284. “I’d love to go there and fight Robert again, and hopefully get the job done this time.”

Unfortunately, the UFC hadn’t reached out to Cannonier regarding the Whittaker fight.

“Yeah, I don’t get that either, you know?” he added regarding the UFC’s apparent lack of interest in the match-up. “So I don’t know. Maybe Robert wants to take time. I mean, maybe it was Robert’s decision. Maybe he wants to take more time off then since he’s not getting this, he wants to have more of the holidays, really go crazy for the holidays.”

Asked again if he’d fight Whittaker in Australia, Cannonier confirmed “Yeah, absolutely.”

For some reason we’re not expecting the UFC to follow up on this by themselves. But maybe if Robert Whittaker sees Cannonier’s interview, he can push the promotion to accept his offer and set up a rematch of their October 2020 fight for Perth. With pay-per-view prices making another hike, this doesn’t feel like the time to be fielding less stacked cards. And keeping “The Reaper” on an Australian card is a no-brainer.

The UFC middleweight world champion ‘Poatan’ Alex Pereira recently showed off some of his sharp kickboxing skills when he sparred with GLORY Kickboxing light heavyweight fighter Clyde Brunswijk.

Brazil’s Alex Pereira was a two-division champion in GLORY Kickboxing and was renowned for his knockout power and size. He vacated his kickboxing domain and jumped into MMA and joined the UFC. It paid off, as this year he earned the UFC middleweight title with a knockout win against Israel Adesanya.

The Brazilian middleweight striker Pereira was recently filmed sparring against light heavyweight kickboxer Clyde Brunswijk. See below for the full video:

Alex Pereira spars Clyde Brunswijk

Despite the Surinamese-Dutch Clyde Brunswijk fighting at light heavyweight, the middleweight Alex Pereira appears to have a size advantage over the kickboxer. In their sparring match, ‘Poatan’ appears to be getting the better of Brunswijk. On Instagram, the light heavyweight fighter thanked Pereira for the sparring rounds.

Brunswijk and Pereira sparred at the Days Gym in Almere, Netherlands. The Days Gym also hosts such notable fighters as GLORY lightweight world champion Tyjani Beztati. Plus rising stars such as Brandon Fos who has gone 6-0 in ENFUSION.

The sparring must have helped Brunswijk as he went on to win against Fatih Ulusoy at ENFUSION 117 on December 16. For the year 2022, the light heavyweight kickboxer has gone 2-1 between GLORY and ENFUSION. His most notable win was a TKO stoppage over Muhammed Balli at GLORY Rivals 2.

Overall in professional kickboxing, the Surinamese-Dutch Clyde Brunswijk has earned a record of 55-9-1.
