It appears as though Roy Nelson will be judged for kicking referee Big John McCarthy after his UFC Fight Night 95 clash with Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva in Brazil.

Nelson took the Brazilian out in the second round, but kicked ‘Big John’ after the stoppage and gave him the one finger salute after feeling that the referee stopped the contest too late:

“I didn’t want to hurt ‘Bigfoot’ more than I had to,” Nelson said during the post-fight press conference in Brasilia. “And I got taken by the moment, because it’s like I’m beating the sh*t out of somebody and you’re like, dude, enough is enough.

And for me, it hurt my feelings. And I apologize to Big John, but I wouldn’t take it back. It just hurt me, that I’ve got to keep on hitting a guy that doesn’t need to be hit.”

MMA Fighting obtained a document from The Superior Justice Court of MMA (STJDMMA) earlier today, which states that Nelson was notified of a 90-day suspension that begun on September 29th. Following the event The STJDMMA accepted a complaint filed by one of its attorneys

Nelson could be charged a potential fine of up to $30,000 and anywhere from a 30-day to six-month suspension for assaulting McCarthy.

The attorney is suggesting a 14-month suspension and $18,500 fine, however, the President of the STJDMMA still must evaluate the case. Nelson has been given business days to present his defense.

UFC heavyweight contender Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva had a pretty rough night at UFC Rotterdam this past Sunday (May 8, 2016). He faced fellow heavyweight giant Stefan Struve in the evening’s co-main event, in what proved to be a very quick and brutal fight for the Brazilian. After rushing in on the initial exchanges, Silva got caught with a nice two-piece combo before eating a knee to the chin that appeared to take his legs out from under him. As the fight went to the ground, Silva’s head was left exposed as he looked to take Struve down, and ‘The Skyscraper’ rained down elbows in the style of Travis Browne to get the stoppage.

Silva instantly appealed the KO loss, which officially came in at 16 seconds in the first round, but the referee’s stoppage was now in the books. Struve celebrated the victory, erasing the memory of his frustrating decision loss to Jared Rosholt at UFC 193 last November, but it was disappointing at best for the fallen Brazilian Bigfoot.

A tough loss to swallow, and the second of the sort in a row for Silva, as he drops to five KO losses in the last seven outings. There was a lot of talk about possible retirement for Bigfoot among fans, but the giant Brazilian heavyweight who holds wins over Alistair Overeem, Fedor Emelianenko and many other big names wasn’t making any announcements regarding the subject of his future.

But there’s been something else going on behind the scenes featuring Silva’s following in his native Brazil. It looks as though many of his home country’s fans have begun to turn tides on the well travelled MMA veteran, and it has infuriated Silva to the point he’s gone on a wild rant over social media.

UFC Fight Night 89 is now in the books, as the event took place earlier today (May 8, 2016) live on FOX Sports 1 from Rotterdam, Netherlands.

The card produced some fantastic fights, and some electrifying finishes which was proven true when the promotion handed out four $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonuses to Germaine De Randamie, Gunnar Nelson, Stefan Struve, and Alistair Overeem.

De Randamie took on Anna Elmose on the main card, putting her lethal striking skills on full display. After battering Elmose early on, De Randamie finished the fight with a brutal body knee in the first round.

Nelson then met the previously surging Albert Tumenov and came out firing, looking very sharp and elusive in the first round. It was in the second frame, however, when “Gunni” put his elite level submission skills to work, earning a rear-naked-choke victory.

In the co-main event of the evening, Struve faced off with powerful striker Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, but it was the Dutchman who lit Silva up, scoring a breathtaking 15-second knockout victory.

Overeem was able to keep the momentum going for the Dutch when he clashed with former champion Andrei Arlovski in the evening’s main event. After a first round that likely went his way, “The Reem” came out in the second and finished the job, picking up his fourth straight victory with a TKO stoppage.

Throughout the comparatively short history of mixed martial arts (MMA), there’ve expectedly been a host of fights that stand out as one-sided beatdowns from one man or woman to another.

The bout’s referee stopped some of these fights mercifully, a participant’s corner stopped some, and some went to a decision, but ultimately they all featured one-sided results

To be clear, we aren’t talking about one-punch or kick knockouts; those are a defined subset of a different sort. These bouts are just the most devastatingly one-sided contests in MMA history regardless of if they ended with a single knockout blow or not, and the magnitude of the fight was taken into account for judging.

They also not surprisingly feature some of the greatest fighters who’ve truly helped shape thee polished MMA picture we enjoy today.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at the 10 worst beatdowns in MMA history.
