Headed into his interim welterweight title fight with Rafael dos Anjos at June 9’s UFC 225, Colby Covington is trying to get any publicity he can.

And in a sense, it’s working.

After repeatedly posing with adult film stars on Instagram, Covington recently claimed that he had a salacious tryst with four such women in an interview with Submission Radio (via MMA Mania).

Warning: Graphic language ahead:

“I mean, I had a foursome the other night. And I never thought I’d ever be in a foursome. That was awesome. Yeah, and I’m not talking with any dudes, I’m talking with three different chicks. These aren’t just any pornstars, these are the cream of the crop. They think I’m not focused and they’re like, ‘oh, you need to focus on RDA and your title fight in Chicago’.

“I’m like, what are you talking about? I’m having sex with three different pornstars, do you know what type of cardio that takes? Because you can’t just give them ten minutes, man, you gotta be putting it in and pounding that and laying the pipe for like a good hour. So, I mean, I’m constantly moving and flexing my testosterone on them for an hour straight. I mean, dude, this is the best cardio I could ever get for five rounds. I am cut from the same cloth as Michael Jordan and I’m gonna dunk my nuts on RDA’s face on June 9 live on pay-per-view.”

However, one of the pornstars allegedly involved in the orgy, 23-year-old Kelsi Monroe, recently got online to shoot down Covington’s claims as it pertained to her, insisting that she wasn’t one of the women involved:

“Oh hell no, Colby. Maybe you did have sex with three porn stars, but it was not me, so why is my fucking picture up there? Hell no!”

Covington continues to make headlines about for what appear to be all the wrong reasons, but to him, they’re probably all the right ones.

Any publicity is good publicity for “Chaos,” and he could turn that into a boost into stardom should he win a UFC belt against dos Anjos very soon.

He claims to be working on his cardio, but Monroe isn’t so sure.

Colby Covington Trashes Khabib Nurmagomedov In Grotesque Callout

Top-ranked welterweight contender Colby Covington may have his hands full with Rafael dos Anjos heading into their interim title bout at June 9’s UFC 225, but that isn’t stopping him from calling out UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Top-ranked welterweight contender Colby Covington may have his hands full with Rafael dos Anjos heading into their interim title bout at June 9’s UFC 225, but that isn’t stopping him from calling out UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The dominant Dagestani grappler recently defeated last-minute replacement Al Iaquinta to win the lightweight title at April 7’s UFC 223 following a chaotic series of events that saw him potentially matched against five different opponents in six days, but like many watching, Covington wasn’t impressed by ‘The Eagle’s’ victory.

Speaking to MMAjunkie Radio this week, Covington said that Nurmagomedov’s smothering style may work at 155 pounds – where he had had issues making weight – but it wouldn’t work up a class at welterweight.

In his mind, Khabib’s victory over Iaquinta let a lot to be desired, so he thinks Nurmagomedov would get slammed to the mat and be smothered himself in Covington’s now-patented, grotesque fashion:

“I think it works for the little lightweight division, but that (expletive) doesn’t fly at welterweight. You’ve got a real All-American wrestler, not some sambo dude, so if he comes up to welterweight, he’s going to get his head dunked and balls put on his forehead just like the rest of them.

“I don’t think he’s that impressive. He couldn’t even finish a real estate agent. That’s (expletive) sad.”

According to Covington’s assessment of the situation after re-watching the fight, Khabib would fail up a weight class because he’s simply too one-dimensional. He views himself as the opposite, despite not being known whatsoever for his striking:

I watched the fight a couple of times,” he said. “(Khabib) just goes forward and looks for takedowns and pressure. He doesn’t have any striking power. He’s not a well-rounded fighter like myself. I can beat people on the feet; I can beat people on the ground. It doesn’t matter.

“Guys have a lot more to worry about when they’re fighting me than they do fighting Khabib. He’s just one-dimensional. I’m the most well-rounded fighter on the planet.”

Covington has exactly two TKO stoppages in his 13-win MMA career, with one of them being a submission to punches.

Hardly the record of the ‘most well-rounded’ fighter on the UFC roster, and Covington is still considered one of the most wrestling-focused fighters at 170 pounds. He did outlast Demian Maia on the feet in his last bout, but the Brazilian grappling legend is hardly a fighter relying on knockout power, volume striking, or anything resembling the two.

What we have here, fight fans, is another case of Covington hyping himself with more hyperbole. And based on his next match-up, it’s working for him. Will it come crashing down in Chicago this June?

Heading into his interim welterweight title bout with Rafael dos Anjos at June’s UFC 225, rising 170-pound contender Colby Covington has been making a name for himself.

It hasn’t just been for his fighting skills despite a five-fight win streak, however, as “Chaos” has been inciting what his nickname suggests by calling out each and everyone who crosses his path.

Perhaps the main focal point of his talk has been directed at many Brazilian fighters, most notably former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum and more importantly, the people of Brazil themselves after he unleashed a controversial tirade when he beat Demian Maia by decision last October. He had to be escorted out by security then, and that may be the main reason his match-up with dos Anjos was moved to UFC 225 after originally being scheduled for UFC 224 in Rio de Janeiro.

All of the hype isn’t getting to former lightweight champion dos Anjos, however, as he recently spoke up on The MMA Hour to offer his view that he’s used to bullies like Covington and will let him do his talking.

Once the fight promotion is over, that’s when he’ll do his job in the cage:

“Man, I’m born and raised in Brazil in Rio, and I knew a lot of bullies in school,” dos Anjos said. “I never have a problem with that. I know he’s going to say a lot, but it’s part of his thing, part of the promotion. I’m going to let him talk and promote the fight. Then, fight night, I’m going to go there and do my job.

“I do this for myself, for my family, for my fans around the world. I’m not an emotional fighter. I just go there, I’m cold-blooded, and I do my thing.”

Always the calculating professional, the normally quiet dos Anjos doesn’t normally talk trash.

He prefers to let his fists do the talking, and although he’s promised to follow that path against Covington, he assured listeners that the loudmouth’s day was coming:

“He’s been crossing the line all the time. And he’s going to learn down the road.”

Dos Anjos has looked like a true threat to the 170-pound title with three straight wins over Robbie Lawler, Neil Magny, and Tarec Saffiedine following two straight losses to Tony Ferguson and Eddie Alvarez that prompted him to ditch the draining weight cut down to lightweight.

Covington, on the other hand, has used his over-the-top trash talk and social media feuds to fuel his rise on top of by far his biggest victory over Maia. There’s no doubt “Chaos” has shown a dominant wrestling game and an ability to hype fights on the mic, the top qualities of a certain former UFC title contender named Chael Sonnen.

‘The American Gangster’ was known to make things personal with Brazil as well, and Covington has done an efficient job of following in his footsteps. For now, he’s avoided a potentially dangerous scene in Rio, however.

Will he avoid another against dos Anjos in the bout’s new location in the ‘Second City?’

Colby Covington Is Now Calling Out Female UFC Fighters

Controversial UFC welterweight Colby Covington has trash talked his way into an interim title shot against Rafael Dos Anjos at June 9’s UFC 225 from Chicago, Illinois, but that hasn’t stopped him from continuing his verbal assaults.

Now, Covington is targeting Raquel Pennington, who told the press she wasn’t a fan of his brand of trash talk after sitting nearby him at last week’s UFC 25th-Anniversary press conference.

Pennington said she wanted to ‘slap Covington in the back of the head’ after listening to his over-the-top smack talk, but ‘Chaos’ recently revealed he isn’t buying it.

Covington says she’s mad at him for a much different reason, however ( via Flo Combat):

“Who is Raquel Pennington? What is she, 9-5 in the weakest division in the UFC? Let me tell you the real reason Raquel Pennington is mad at me. She’s mad at me ‘cause her wife, when she was at American Top Team, Tecia Torres, was always googly-eyed over me, staring at me across the mats. She must have walked in on her wife one day looking at my Instagram ‘cause I’m so sexy, American raw steel and sex appeal. There’s the real reason. She’s not mad at what I said at the press conference. She’s just mad that her wife has googly eyes for me.”

Covington is referring to Pennington’s significant other Tecia “Tiny Tornado” Torres, who according to Covington, made “googly eyes” towards him when the two trained together at American Top Team. Pennington and Torres two wed back in 2016.

Is this just another case of Covington’s trash talk or is he actually telling the truth about why Pennington doesn’t like him?

Former lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos will be fighting Colby Covington for the interim welterweight belt in Chicago and not in Brazil as originally thought.

Covington has made a name for himself with his sophomoric brand of trash talking, targeting Brazil and Brazilians yet without the subtle charm of Chael Sonnen. Fighters from the country lashed out at Covington, and it became abundantly clear that Covington wouldn’t be welcome in Brazil anytime soon:

“I’m the King of Brazil. I owe it to the fans of Brazil to go back there and put on a show for them. Brazil wasn’t ready for me, so Dana had to put it in the U.S.”

Covington will indeed instead fight Dos Anjos in Chicago at UFC 225, where the two will battle it out for the interim welterweight title as Tyron Woodley sits out indefinitely with an injury.

UFC President Dana White explains the necessity of creating an interim title in Woodley’s absence:

“He’s injured. He’s been out for awhile. We’ve been trying to get him to fight. He’s not taking any fights. He sent us a doctor’s note from the best shoulder specialist in the country, who said he’s out til August. We’re not going to be in a position where we jam up a division, so we’re going to do the fight.”

The bout was initially booked for UFC 224 in Rio de Janeiro, but was moved around Thursday. UFC 225 goes down on June 9th.

Controversial UFC welterweight Colby Covington has been looking for a fight, and former lightweight champion-turned-welterweight contender Rafael Dos Anjos has answered the call.

Dos Anjos says he has signed the contract for a fight with Covington at UFC 224, but Covington himself has yet to sign the dotted line:

“I was told Woodley was only able to fight at the end of the year, I can’t wait that long. I have kids, I need to keep going with my career and Colby Covington is the next guy in line. I have the contract signed on my side, we are just waiting on him.”

RDA is currently 3-0 at welterweight, most recently defeating former divisional champ Robbie Lawler in December.

Maybe the reason Covington hasn’t signed on to fight the Brazilian at UFC 224 is because the event will be held in Brazil, a country that has been the object of Covington’s ire in many an interview. The two are supposed to square off on Friday during a press conference leading into Saturday’s UFC 223 in Brooklyn.

However, that’s all changed. Shortly after dos Anjos said he was still waiting to meet Covington for the interim belt, news arrived from MMA Fighting that the fight was official.

The winner will take on champion Tyron Woodley after UFC 224 takes place on May 12 in Rio de Janeiro.
