With the UFC having now secured a new broadcasting deal with ESPN from 2019 onwards, Dana White recently admitted that ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ show may finally be on its way out after a 27season series run.

As such, now seems like a good time to take a look back at what has become of every single one of the long-running show’s 35 ‘Ultimate Fighter’ winners to date.

Find out what your favorite past winners of TUF are up to now:

SEASON 1

Diego Sanchez

It’s a testament to Diego Sanchez’s durability that 13 years after winning TUF season 1 he remains the only fighter from that historic series to still be actively competing in the UFC, having amassed 27 fights (16-11) to date.

However, after suffering back-to-back first-round knockouts in his last two fights, it’s possible that the 36-year-old’s memorable career is now entering its final stages, though Sanchez has assured his fans that, “I’m not done yet.”

Forrest Griffin

Arguably TUF’s most iconic winner, Griffin’s fight with Stephan Bonner in the Season 1 finale was declared as the most important fight in UFC history by Dana White, while he’d also go on to win the light-heavyweight title too.

Griffin retired in 2013 at the age of 33 due to chronic injuries, but he’s since been inducted into the UFC’s Hall of Fame and now works for the UFC as their Vice President of Athletic Development.

So, Should We Hate Or Love What Ryan Hall Did At The TUF Finale?

So not too far back you probably came across an article that stated how traditional martial arts is the future of mixed martial arts. It’s an opinion that I still stand by wholeheartedly. The distance management, the selection of strikes, the variety and movement, traditional martial arts striking has all the factors needed to bring a fighter’s game to the next level. Brazilian jiu-jitsu wizard Ryan Hall is one fighter who has embraced the idea of traditional martial arts bolstering his game.

At The Ultimate Fighter finale Ryan Hall showed new wrinkles in his game against the veteran Gray Maynard in a match that ended up feeling decidedly disjointed. When the fight was contested on the feet, Hall demonstrated exactly what he’d been working on since teaming up with karate masters Ray and Stephen Thompson.

You could see the similarities in their styles from the way Stephen Thompson and now Ryan Hall bounced in the southpaw stance, circling and cutting angles and utilizing long range kicks of different variety to keep their opponent guessing. The biggest difference in their approach: where Thompson looks to knock out his opponent, Ryan Hall is looking to use his strikes to set up his grappling game.

That’s what the fight with Maynard so frustrating.

Hall consistently threw kicks that landed flush, particularly the hook kick that smashed into Maynard’s grill almost at will. The problem is right when Maynard chose to counter back with strikes of his own Hall was diving for the legs in hopes of catching the veteran in a submission. While it may be a smart and effective approach, the fact that it slowed down the action was more than irritating to observe. The crowd at the Palms didn’t appreciate the tactical approach to Hall’s game, and even when it was quite obvious that his strategy was working, it took the whole fight out of fighting. Yes, not all fights are going to be barnburner slug fests, but the point of fighting is to prove you are the superior combatant. Hall proved that his striking is effective, but when he faces someone who has equal parts striking and grappling, he’ll have to learn to bite down on his mouthpiece and endeavor to trade blows.

What did you think of Ryan Hall’s performance?

The UFC has been forced to make several changes to the upcoming UFC Fight Night 91 card, but this is the first that involves a fight completely being removed.

Officials announced that a planned featherweight encounter between Ryan Hall and Alex White will not take place due to White suffering an injury. The card will not receive another bout, and Hall will not get a new opponent.

Hall (5-1) earned his lone win inside the Octagon when he defeated Artem Lobov to become a winner of The Ultimate Fighter 22. White (11-2) has split his four UFC appearances evenly.

UFC Fight Night 91 takes place July 13 from Sioux Falls, South Dakota and features Michael McDonald vs. John Lineker in the main event.

VIDEO: Ryan Hall Turns Frantz Slioa Into a Pretzel on ‘TUF 22: Episode 2?

Being a Jiu Jitsu black belt with a penchant for heel hooks, it would be easy to compare TUF 22 competitor Ryan Hall to Rousimar Palhares, and we’re sure that many an MMA website out there already has. Thankfully, that’s where the comparisons begin and end, as last night’s fight between Hall (of team Faber) and Team McGregor’s Frantz Slioa proved outright that not all leglock masters are homicidal lunatics incapable of empathy.

As for the rest of last night’s episode, Dana White dropped something of a bomb (by TUF standards, at least) in announcing that not only would each coach be allowed to bring one fighter eliminated during the preliminary fights back (McGregor went with teammate/countryman Artem Lobov, obviously, while Faber took Johnny Nunez), but that the least exciting fighter will be kicked out of the house after the first nine fights conclude.

“I’m looking for guys who wanna fight,” said White. “I’m looking for guys who wanna perform. I looking for guys who wanna be world champions. That’s what this show is all about. We aren’t looking for guys who will hold onto a guy’s leg for three rounds and make it to the finals.”

You hear that, guys? The TUF house don’t need no stinking “strategies.” They just want dudes swinging them bungalows until someone goes down. So what if you emerge too injured to fight 3 times in 10 weeks? SUCK IT UP, PUSSIES.

In the trash-talking department, Urijah Faber told the “Notorious” one that he looked like “orange cotton candy.” McGregor quickly fired back by mocking Faber’s style, which he accurately described as that of “a 50-year old retired skateboarder.” Compelling stuff.
